The Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), the highest decision-making body of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos, has reportedly appointed Musiliu Obanikoro, a former minister of state for defence, into its ranks.

Obanikoro, an ally of Bola Tinubu, presidential candidate of the APC, was also a former ambassador to Ghana.

His appointment into GAC was announced on Twitter by his son, Babajide, who is a currently a member of the house of representatives.

The younger Obanikoro also said [b]Demola Seriki, ambassador of Nigeria to Spain, and Femi Pedro, a former deputy governor of Lagos, were also appointed into the council.

[b]“Congratulations Daddy @MObanikoro on your well-deserved appointment to the Governance Advisory Council (#GAC). Your appointment to the highly placed Council is proof of your well-documented work ethic,” he tweeted.

“Hearty Congratulations also to Ambassador @DemolaSeriki, @femipedro (Former Deputy Governor of Lagos State), Mrs Sarah Sosan (Former Deputy Governor of Lagos State), Mrs Adejoke Adefulire @Adejoke_O_A (Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals).

“With the #GAC comprising these extremely cerebral individuals, it is clear that the party is in competent hands and will continue to work towards a great future.”

Meanwhile, the development comes months after the former minister lost the party’s ticket to represent the APC for Lagos west senatorial district in the 2023 general election.

Obanikoro lost to Idiat Adebule, former Lagos deputy governor, during the primary which held in May.

The former minister had expressed reservations over the conduct of the primary, and described the process as fraught with malpractices.

He had also said Adebule was not qualified to contest the primary.

One of the evidence of Asiwaju's forgiving spirit. I recall his days as Commissioner of Chieftaincy affairs then and that ministry was so influential due to his closeness to Asiwaju until he went rogue and started fighting Asiwaju. He retraced hus steps and here he is today. I expect Engr Ogunlewe to be there too.

Don't mind them. Lost count the number of times I have tried to educate their ignorant azzes about the power and importance GAC.

What people don't know is that GAC advises the Governor but are also in place to check his excesses so no single person can derail Lagos.

Same GAC ratified the removal of Ambode but ignorant IPOBians will be shouting Tinubu's name up and down.

Perhaps if they learn to appreciate, rather than hate, they can copy the model of Lagos to use in reforming Obi's Anambra. Lol

Tinubu is a fantastic mentor. I have personally learnt a lot from him about shunning distraction and pettiness to remain focused on your goal.

His magnanimous and forgiving disposition means that even those who felt they were his sworn enemy will align with him in future because Jagaban has won them over with his 'big brother' forgiving charm.

Very good skill to have for anyone who want to lead productively and effectively.

Pragmatically intelligent people know that politics is about permanent interest and not permanent enmity or friendship.

Tinubu is best at utilizing that to meet his political goals and remain dominant while many are long gone and forgotten.

Party of criminals. Same Obanikoro that APC accused of corruption. All your sins are forgiven once you join APC. A party that spent millions of taxpayers' money prosecuting and convicting two ex-governors only to turn around and grant them pardon cannot be taken seriously.

Orji Uzor Kalu was convicted and jailed, only to be freed by the same APC that came to power on the mantra of fighting corruption. This administration is nothing but a cesspool of corruption and impunity. The government official that stole over 100 billion naira is still walking free while ASUU is on strike.

We may never know the depth of corruption and damage APC has done to this country until another party takes over.
