Troubling Signs For PDP/APC:  Why Rivers Residents Are Queuing Behind Magnus Abe In Droves

* SDP is gaining new members, particularly in the suburbs.

A major political shift is currently taking place in Rivers State, with thousands of residents from the oil-rich Niger Delta State flocking to the SDP in support of Senator Magnus Abe's gubernatorial ambition.

A significant portion of the APC and PDP's voter base in the State appears to have finally screwed up so badly that they are abandoning the parties in massive numbers. According to a recent poll, voters' support for both parties has significantly decreased over the past three months. If this trend persists, it may have effects that go beyond the upcoming general elections.

It is observed that even in Port Harcourt, Okrika, Gokana, Khana up to Bonny, Degema, Ahoada east and west and other areas of Rivers State the Israelite movement is very noticeable.

Nearly five months before the gubernatorial election, the PDP is still unable to resolve the ambiguity surrounding Siminalaye Fubara, its governorship candidate.

Due to an alleged ongoing dispute with the EFCC, Fubara, a former accountant general of Rivers State, is rumoured to be holed up in the Rivers State Government House and is unable to leave, not even for political campaigns.

Fubara's credibility is a persistent problem, and the ongoing conflict between Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and the PDP NWC and its presidential candidate isn't helping either.

Although some swing voters have attributed the movement to the long-standing popularity of the SDP candidate, Sen Magnus Abe, who they say has demonstrated his leadership qualities over the years, they also believe Rivers State would benefit from Magnus Abe's experience and capability.

A middle-aged man simply identified as Alfred, who lives in Okrika, a Rivers State suburb, says he had no choice but to join the SDP because it is the best alternative party to save the state in the upcoming governorship election.

He claims to have defected from the APC in the aftermath of the party's primaries and the imposition of Tonye Cole, whom he labels a lackey of former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi. According to him, the PDP was not an option because its governorship candidate is shrouded in secrecy and has questionable financial records, making him untrustworthy with Rivers State's resources.

While the SDP has offered few policy solutions of their own, Magnus Abe has been working hard to exploit the shortcomings of the PDP and APC.

His street credibility is growing by the day, and most locals credit it not only to his humanitarian work, but also to his availability, which they claim puts him ahead of the PDP and APC's Gubernatorial candidates.

According to Abiye George. 'In Rivers, the APC and PDP are woefully out of touch with the populace, which is why voters are flocking to the SDP in droves,' he told reporters.

"We know Abe from the struggle of Odili's administration to the present day; his services to Rivers State are indelible and will last more than a generation; he deserves the Governorship."

Magnus Abe is well-known to most clans in Rivers because of his long-standing ability to blend in with the local communities, SMA has a very commendable structure spread across the State.

Additionally, the SDP has made progress in places like Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni, Ikwerre, Emohua, and Omuma. The coming weeks will provide a clearer picture of what is to come.

SIM is winning this election in a landslide and Obi would be winning the Presidential Election. Everyone I know is talking about Peter Obi and SIM Fubara. Rivers people are voting based on individuals and not Parties this time. No one talks about Tonye except in Kalabari heartlands. He is only being promoted by some elements of IYC and remnant of old guards in APC and that does not win election in PHALGA, OBALGA and OYIGBO.

Abe would have had a slim chance if he has ported for LP and run on the coattail of Obi.

#1. Yes he can, by the Special Grace of God.
Umo Eno is having Certs issues&the case is in court, from all indications he may not come out clean, except judgement is twisted in his favour.
Pastor Umo Eno is not popular in the Political scene, &he has questionable character in his private business before actively joined politics a couple of years ago, he is a product of CABAL, positioned to retain power by proxy, core PDP faithfuls/members are not in tune with the Governor's choice, some of them are pretending to support Umo Eno but their mind is with OBA whom they know for a long time to be a man of cheerful giver also they feel Governorship suppose to be rightly zoned to Itu/Ibiono axis of Uyo Senatorial District, where they have not produce a governor before for equity&Justice, &this is OBA zone. OBA is popular, he is not new in politics or the Governorship race, he has the requisite experience in Leadership, he has the Capacity, Street credibility, he can deliver that much needed services, he commands massive followers across the state, the people of Oro Nation, Eket &Annang Ethnic groups(Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District), Eastern Obolo people are with him as well, he has since picked his Running mate from Oron in person of Assistant Inspector General, AIG Asuquo Amba (rtd) after widely consulted, Oro Elders&Stakeholders preffered &gave him his running mate with backups.
His campaign is chaired by Sir Emem Akpabio an elder bros to senator Godswill Akpabio. Other members of his campaign Team are Top-Notch political juggernauts in the State who were formally stunch PDP members, last week Uyo Senatorial District Elders&Leadership Forum, made up of respected Ibibio elders &one of the decision making body of the District endorsed him openly.

#2 PDP is not longer a religion in Akwa Ibom state since when the new electoral law2022 was signed, &with OBA's defection to YPP, it has been massive defections to YPP in the state in the last couple of months, other PDP aspirants who contested the Guber tickets have since surrendered their Structures to OBA in YPP, embracing the BallotRevolution &echoing the "Service to the People" mantra of the party. The State party chairman of YPP&OBA's team have been moving round the 31LGAs to setup YPP chapter &ward offices &structures in the grassroots, to further bring the party closer to the electorates in the rural areas &I tell you it has been a wonderful experience, wide acceptability, Wards &chapters level office holders in PDP have resigned officially to join YPP, to further support the Governorship ambition of the 5-Star Distinguished Senator OBA. Those who were denied tickets in PDP in different elective positions in the PDP Primaries due to impositions of candidates by the cabals in Government House have since joined&picked YPP tickets to contest in the forthcoming elections next year. E.g Mr. Ephraim Inyang the Governor's former trusted ally&kinsman is the YPP Eket Senatorial District candidate, most of the State House of Assembly members are YPP minded, few have picked YPP tickets to run for second term &numerous political appointees have concluded plans to defect probably by December, 2022, while some will remain in PDP to play the spoilers game. Electorates are looking at Personality with Capacity & antecedents not party, Which OBA fits the bill.

The PDP reconciliation committee set up by the State Chairman & leadership of the party in the State to appease aggrieved party members who couldn't make it in the Primaries, did not yield any tangible success.

Don't worry when the Governorship campaigns starts next month, you will know the stuff OBA is made of, we thank God for sparing the life of YPP National leader, Senator Ifeanyi Uba, the CEO Capital Oil last week, over the attack in his state, were he lost some Personnel attached to him, Senator Uba has promised to be fully involve in OBA's Governorship plans with serious commitment, YPP National Chairman, Emmanuel Amakiri will deploy strategies as well.

Note, Senator Bassey Albert Akpan (OBA) &Senator Ifeanyi Uba are the two YPP Senators now @the Red Chamber both of them are Chairman &Vice Chairman, Senate committee on Petroleum (Upstream) @this current 9th Assembly.

OK, I love details so as to let people understand exactly what's going on in our political clime, if I had given you a brief answer, probably you may have thought that Senator OBA is wasting his time, energy & money on a very unrealistic ambition.

Now back to your question: His Excellency, Mr. Udom Emmanuel is human &he has tried his best in Governance &in building on the Sucesses of his predecessors, interms of continous expansion of key Infrastructures in Roads, Health, Security, Power generation, Aviation Development, prompt payment of salaries to Civil servants etc. &his delibrate efforts in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) so as to drive-in the much needed industries the State is yearning for. I sincerely appreciate him for Ibom Air, etc.

Inspite of all this, he still has his shortcomings, like I said before he is just human, mistakes here&there, nobody is 100%.

1. little or no much efforts in Human Capital Development of the people to cushion the effects of hardship among citizens till when the industries he has manage to bring is fully operational, &we have observed that the effect of the few Industries available is not being felt by the people. What we had expected is Interest free loans or grants to the teeming youths to starts business in this regard.

The State Worship Centre he is building costing more than #20Billion of the State's money would have gone a long way to handle Human Capital Development services to the Unemployed people, especially young graduates. Unfortunately, there's nothing anybody can do about it, we just have to bear the agony being Unemployed & hardship.

Answer: Senator OBA was Chairman Inter-ministerial, Direct Labour Project committee where he delivered over 5000 direct labour jobs across 31 LGAs of AKS under then Gov. Akpabio, he used this office to empower youths with contracts, job services deliveries&medium-scale supplies, with this gestures he turned boys to men, as a result of money in circulation &patronage a lot of young men got married, some used money realized from the contract to setup their own businesses, few bought cars, Landed properties, while those who were capable, build their houses.
So during Gov. Akpabio's time even if were selling in a kiok in the street that money will reach you somehow through buying&selling.
So have you seen the ripple effects? Senator OBA is not new in Human Capital Development.

2. Interms of education there is still need for improvement all round compare to the last administration, we need to institutionalize Scholarships to support our young undergraduates &grauduates who needs to further their education to Msc or Phd, which is also part of Human Capital Development.
Gov. Udom recently awarded scholarships to 500 undergraduates for the first time in 7years in ASUU strike period, probably because he has heard of Senator OBA's exploit&achievements in that regard just to please people during this build-up to elections.
Answer: Senator OBA has sponsored about 481 students in tertiary institutions all fees paid into school account directly in your name till graduation, then paid semester stipends in your account, it is on records for all to see, his empowerment programmes to his consistuents which he represent @Red Chamber is always massive, business grants, equipments for vocationals&artisans, Keke&mini buses to those who requested, saloon cars &SUVs for those who needs them to operate Bolt Taxi business are what he gives from time to time.

3. No improvement in the area of Agriculture despite financial commitment &efforts by his Government, we still depend heavily on stable foods from neighbouring states, giving rise to high inflation of food prices in the State. According to new reports by National Beareu of Statistics, the State ranks high in inflation rate in prices of food stuffs, Transport & other services compared to other states. No functional rice &garri mill, tomatoes farming etc admist media hype, it therefore means that the mills are in functional, he took a couple of Industries to his village &does not employ thousands of teeming youths as claimed by his media boys, the industries does not go round to other parts of the state either, and they are at the mercy of the Governor, so many people feels the Governor is a self-centred person, greedy&stingy that he cares about his place cos of what he has been able to arrange perfectly well in his home town.
He seems to award more roads for construction in his 2-term as Governor, but many is still under construction he awarded since 2015 &the people are not finding it funny, judging the money that comes to the State from FAAC, the people of the state even try to compare him with Gov. Wike who completed more quality roads with flyovers on a record time, but he has come out to tell the people to be patient & that all roads will be completed before leaving office.

Answer: In Agriculture, Senator OBA has presented his well articulated Blueprints for it &he lays it bare for all to see during his consultations. And he has explained how he intends to achieve it, using peculiar food crops grown in each LGAs to drive home Agricultural productions.

• i was told from a reliable source that in the last 18momths Gov. Udom hasn't paid impress to teachers, as a result no motivations among teachers, some schools are in deplorable conditions, despite huge allocations to the State.

• Retired primary school teachers&next-of-kin from 2011 are yet to receive their pensions&Gratuities from 2011 till date to a tune of #38Billion. Other previous Governments have paid from 1991-2001, Then Gov. Akpabio took over &Paid 2001-2011, Ten years plans each, so we expect him to pay 2011-2021 just like his predecessors, but he hasn't, in this hard times those retired senior citizens needs this money to survive &this in a way has a ripple effects in stimulating the economy of the State, because money will be in circulation, but due to numerous complains, agitations &peaceful protest, he released just only #1Billion, & you know, it can't go round, remaining #37Billion which is being locked down! to further impoverish the people the more, some of those who are entitled to this monies have died without benefits, some are in terrible health conditions.

Answer: Senator OBA being a Service Provider, &with his party's SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE slogan, he has promise to clear all entitlements owed to these senior citizens, &I tell you, he ain't joking.

• High debt profile of the State, despite huge allocations, Federal Government bailout funds, impressive IGR, excess crude oil money shared among States, AKS still owe huge debt.
Answer: Senator OBA having being a Commissioner for Finance at the age of 35 under then Gov. Akpabio was able to manage finances, infact under his watch the State's IGR got improved.

• Opposition Parties are saying, There's no sincerity in his financial appropriation, that he is full of Lies&propaganda interms of the cost of some of his projects, they expect him to state clearly how much is expended on each of it, who owns the Industries, is it PPP or wholly owned by the state? &how much the State stands to gain or benefit in such investment or venture.
He once said, that the Worship Centre will be funded via NGO, personal donations etc, but findings reaveals that he uses State funds to build it at the detriment of poor AKS people who needs help!

Those who are close to him says that Gov. Udom is too elitist, doesn't like to mixup with common people, &that he is bringing someone that will maintain the Status Quo, it will be all about the Cabals.

Answer: Senator OBA is a man with Street Credibility he mixes up with people right from his days as a banker to when he became Commissioner, now Senator, he relates &help less-privileged, physically-challenged, poor&the down-trodden, reasons he commands large followers, fans, & it cut across all strata of society in the State.


Another is The Ibom DeepSeaport issues, where it was reported that he was trying to shortchanged Oron People by taking it elsewhere to satisfy himself but I heard that has been settled now, ain't privy on what was agreed finally,

There are two important bill on his table for him to sign so as to further give rights to the People:

1• To recognize Oro Nation, that is the people of Oro Ethnic group of the State as an Oil&Gas bearing communities but since 2015 he yet to sign that document, so feels they're marginalized by his Government, reasons they consider Senator OBA.

• The AKS Youth bill sent to him by the State House of Assembly sometime in 2018 or thereabout under RT. Hon Onofiok Luke as Speaker is on his table, but he is yet to assent to it so it can become a Law or an Act. The youths feel betrayed.

Answer: Senator OBA is a Youth friendly Personality, anything required to help the youths, he is always at the forefront, as chairman Senate commitee on Petroleum(Upstream)he was instrumental to the Petroleum Industry Bill which has now become an Act! Part of the act is a certain% must be paid to all Oil&Gas bearing communties for development which Oro Nation is entitle to, as Governor, he will append his signature to it so that Oro Oil&Gas bearing communities will benefit from the Act, that he has promised the people when he paid Consultative visit to Paramount Rulers of Oro Ethnic extractions, he will also do the needful on the Ibom Deep Seaport since approval have been gotten already, thanks to President Buhari & Gov. Udom.

So the above shortcomings is what the Young Progressives Party (YPP) intends to correct &promise to deliver Positive Change Agenda through the Blueprints/Manifestos he has arranged for the people of the State, he will present it to the people &intimate them of the party he is using &its Logo during wards&LG campaigns &that he will implement with immediate effect once he takes over at the Hiltop Mansion come May 29th, 2023.
