GloriousGbola:Say you're applying for a job, is a 5-10 minute interview actually sufficient to show 100% how capable you're? Of course it's not, but interviews are necessary because it shows a glimpse of what you're potentially capable of. Besides, if you're able to talk on anything for 10 minutes straight, guy you go know who sabi and who no sabi. |

The candidate representing the Republican party in the November election in a district in Texas skipped debate and still mopped the floor with other. |

afrodoc2:Are we not seeing stark illiterates as Bachelors degree holders? If you did NYSC you will wonder how some people graduated. Even on this NL see many people who call themselves graduates write or reason and you will see they have nothing upstairs Our CLO could not write a speech, even when written for him to read na wahala In my NYSC days, I was teaching Maths, the other corper teaching Maths too a graduate of Business Admin will come to me to solve JS 2 maths for her and she will just go to the blackboard to copy and paste what I solved for her it was from her I first saw this miracle 203 divided by 10. She used the 0 behind 10 to cancel the 0 between 2 and 3 to get 23 i.e 2 |

raumdeuter:Wahala. Currently serving in nasarawa state and i prepare the lesson plan and note for the whole school simply because the rest of the teachers can't do it or can't do it without errors. The principal even stopped me from going to the classroom to teach and my work is just the lesson note and lesson plan. |

raumdeuter:Cosmas Maduka and Aliko Dangote all have educated people on their team. I don't think they would accept an SSCE holder to manage a part. And yes, maybe the US or UK don't. But if you dig out their profiles, I don't think any would have just a pre school cert. A degree is not too much to ask for one to administrate the affairs of millions of people. Let's not downplay education because of few that got through life without it.. For every Dangote and Cosmas, there are millions that didn't break through |

afrodoc2:We have a large number of the uneducated. If we don't place a premium on requirements, anybody with large followers and a F filled WAEC is eligible. If anyone wants to rule, they should pay the price of a degree. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by larride(m): 4:08pm On Sep 21, 2022 |
izzou:This is true. The minimum should start from a degree for Executive and legislative positions. I'm disappointed it was not included in the new electoral act that was signed into law. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by raumdeuter: 4:09pm On Sep 21, 2022 |
izzou:No president is also going to rule alone, He will also gather people of various intellectual abilities to help Tinubu knows accounting, he doesnt know law for Attorney General and Ministry of Justice, he is not going to know Engineering for ministry of works, He will still appoint people there like he appointed Osinabjo a prof of law as Attorney General and Aregbesola an Engineer as works Obi is a Philosophy graduate, Do you think he will be applying his Aristotle and Socrates Philosophy in governance? He didnt even apply any of these to get his businesses to succeed I am not downplaying education. I support SSCE minimum, but not Uni degree, why must you have a Uni degree if your path in life does not need a Uni degree I want to be a car mechanic, welder, Actor, Wrestler or painter, Why must I go to Uni? So by choosing these pathways that do not require a degree even though I am successful, I am disqualified from being president because some people went to study Russian r Latin in University and are still queuing for Govt job and Npower |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by izzou(m): 4:10pm On Sep 21, 2022 |
larride:Thank you. That minimum of SSCE is just too low for a position that is charged with making laws. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by raumdeuter: 4:11pm On Sep 21, 2022 |
izzou:Any reason why they shouldnt be eligible? Governance is by assemblying people who can do the job, Its basically administrative work. A president isnt going to do many of the things that will fix the economy Under OBJ when the economy grew small, OBJ was a soldier who never heard of any Economic theory before but he was able to assemble smart Okonjo, Soludo etc to do it All those Nigerians without Uni degree are no less Nigerian than you. They have their own concerns too and its not less than yours |

raumdeuter:You are the one attaching a particular field to a degree. I am saying a degree is fine. OBJ isn't an economist, but he's educated to see potentials in Okonjo, Soludo etc. Do you think an SSCE holder would have seen that? Or Tinubu's experience and success in identifying potentials to run Lagos has nothing to do with the fact that he had a degree? There is a difference between a degree holder and an SSCE, even if you don't give them questions relating to any field. Their thought process is not alike. Na Nigerian educational system cause am sha. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by raumdeuter: 4:17pm On Sep 21, 2022 |
larride:Why should a degree be need for executive positions if he can communicate properly in official language Degree is not a measure of intelligence |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by raumdeuter: 4:19pm On Sep 21, 2022 |
izzou:A Secondary school holder like Maduka and Dangote can see the need for experts to run their business, Same way OBJ and Tinubu can see it If OBJ without a Uni degree can see it, why cant any Emeka, Ade or Alli without a degree see the same thing Dangote never went to a Uni I am sure he knows more about economics than many who had graduate degrees |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by izzou(m): 4:22pm On Sep 21, 2022 |
raumdeuter:Like I said, for every Dangote, there are millions that failed. Its quite unfortunate that Dangote and Maduka are not on the ballot. We are talking about someone who is in charge of Legislature, and we are saying an SSCE holder is fine? No bros..... |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by raumdeuter: 4:27pm On Sep 21, 2022 |
izzou:You don't need to be a lawyer to be in charge of legislature. You will have dozens of Law and constitution experts writing the legislation and reviewing for you Saraki was Senate President he was a doctor, |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by izzou(m): 4:29pm On Sep 21, 2022 |
raumdeuter:You are making my point for me sir. Saraki did not just have SSCE when he was Senate president. Like I said, you are the one attaching a particular field to it. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by larride(m): 4:30pm On Sep 21, 2022 |
raumdeuter:I disagree. Degree is definitely a measure of intelligence especially academically. Someone who attends a higher institution is well exposed academically to someone who only has a high school leaving cert. For executive, while they will appoint others into positions to assist them in the running of the administration, they themselves must be able to contribute intellectually. Those they will appoint will be appointed based on their "Academics and Experience" competency. For legislative, the least we can do as a nation is make sure that those who sit and make laws that affect everyone of us is very literate. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by raumdeuter: 4:32pm On Sep 21, 2022 |
izzou:Anyone can be a Senate president, you won't be writing the laws yourself. Its to delegate people to write it. I just hate the idea that few of us who went to Uni think we are the only ones that matter or our lives matter than those who didnt. Just like you have your concerns about feeding your family and serve your nation, the farmer in Nasarawa too wants to feed his family and serve his nation Point is Saraki doesnt know about law and constitution more than you did after Secondary school |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by raumdeuter: 4:37pm On Sep 21, 2022 |
larride:Running the nation is not an academic exercise, It has little to do with academics, And more to do with real life. A senatrs job is to represent his community and table what concerns them to Senate to make laws to fix it. You don't need a Uni degree for A Senator in Enugu without a degree knows they are facing erosion, A Senator in Zamfara knows they are facing bandits, A Senator in Ekiti knows the need good roads Those Senators do not write laws themselves. They have Professors who do it for them. Nothing stops a Secondary school holder from hiring SANs to write laws for him to present on the floor for debate |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by larride(m): 4:38pm On Sep 21, 2022 |
raumdeuter:But realistically, those that will even get to serve wont be up to 1% of the population. Theres nothing wrong in holding them to high standard. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by izzou(m): 4:39pm On Sep 21, 2022 |
raumdeuter:I have not said I matter more than another person. The bar is too low, and we need to be honest about it. If a Farmer in Nassarawa feels he can rule Nigeria, let him pay the price and get a degree. For every knowledge he thinks he has, he has added more. There may be few exceptions of SSCE holders that did well in life, but the probability is low, and that risk is too high to take as a nation |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by larride(m): 4:40pm On Sep 21, 2022 |
raumdeuter:And this is the problem that we keep having, plenty laws that are ineffective because those who are meant to debate the letters of the act have nothing upstairs. That needs to change sir. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by raumdeuter: 4:45pm On Sep 21, 2022 |
izzou:If you are not better why are you qualified for presidency and a farmer is not despite being able to communicate? Why should we keep it at Uni why not PHD, Double PhD, 4.9/5 CGPA or an advanced degree in Robotics so we can get the best of the book smart people Actually many SSCE holders do well in life, Many Uni grads do not do well and are actually job seekers As long as the farmer can communicate effectively in the language majority hears that should be enough. A Uni grad is not more intelligent than a SSCE trader. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by raumdeuter: 4:47pm On Sep 21, 2022 |
larride:Ability to debate and prove your point can be achieved with SSCE as long as you can communicate effectively, There are many on this NL who are just seeking admission or in personal business and they write and debate better than people with Uni degrees There was a guy I wan harass on Chelsea thread one time and he confessed he was just getting admission into UI. But the way he made his argument, you can see he is very smart. Even better than many people who are graduates of many years on that same thread |

raumdeuter:I like the way you balance things. No bias at all You can keep attaching course fields to it. When you pick a good example, you'll still see you're making my point |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by izzou(m): 5:09pm On Sep 21, 2022 |
GloriousGbola:He's doing well in life. That's all that matters. So he would even be better than Tinubu and Obi combined |
