Question for the house
Is black engine oil another cheap alternative to wood treatment oil?
And I have decided to stock the greenhouse with 300 AMO snails (POL) and 200 table size snails.
No you will still need to mix it with the pesticides

so far I have gotten 80 blocks and 2 bags of cement, I plan to source for my snails locally I.e picked from the bush...

You don't rear snails picked from the bush sir. There are hybrid snails meant for production

Small gutter so waste water won’t stay stagnant.

I hope.you treated your soil?
Good you made the gutter. But hope.it goes round the whole pen? If not ants will kill all your snails in one night. If your gutter goes the pen, pour a mixture of water and engine oil in it. This will prevent or trap ants and insects that might want to cross into the pen.
Again I ask, hope you treated your soil?

Wish you God's speed

yes it’s treated. I left the trench because of the oil mixture. I won’t be introducing the snails until a month or 2… I have to let the crops and banana grow abit. I will use that pending time to battle insects.

You can teat your soil by heating process,to kill whatever is in the soil.

The way is normally done is;place a frying pot(the one use in frying garri) fill it with black sand and put on fire, stair it every 10-15 minutes, allow to heat for 45 minutes to an hour with good fire under, being down to cool and repeat the process for all the soil you intend to use.
After that, your soil is good to be introduced into your snail pen.

NOTE: You can use drum if frying pot is not available.

I don't subscribe to the soil treatment idea. This is because snails grow everyday in the wild untreated soil. They grow and do very well without any soil treatment and in spite of millions of ants in the bush. Can someone justify the idea of treating soil please?

Did you plant banana in the cage? Are you going to roof the cage? What happens if the banana grows tall?
