The parable of the Talents - Lagos Vs. Anambra! By Ayodeji Oyewunmi
.
"And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free"

I have decided to lay before all Nigerians the TRUTH by making a comparative performance analysis of Lagos & Anambra using key development indicators
Walk with me

The famous biblical parable of the talents is one i love so much cos its lessons can be taught by all generations.

This is the first of a 3 parts comparative performance analysis series;

Did I hear u say, oh Mr Ay, its unfair to compare Lagos state with Anambra, well
u maybe right, after all why would anyone compare;

Lagos the Toast of Africa - from the Portuguese, to the British, to the locals & Nigeria as a whole, everyone just want her
&
Anambra the state left in ruins after the civil war (imagine what's happening in Ukraine currently).

However, like the lessons taught in the parable of the talents, u still have to be accountable with the little u have, if u want to be entrusted with more.

So here we will be looking at the performance of BAT (2003-2007),

PO (2007-2014) using key development indicators.

Disclaimer: This thread is not for;

1.) Blockheads - If you are not teachable, just pass

2.) IGR boys - If ur understanding of development economics is IGR please pass. This is above ur pay grade

Everything i will be sharing are verifiable facts from verifiable sources.
Below are growth indicators often used by development economist to access low-middle income countries hence we will be using it here

1.) Gross National Income per Capita
2.) Life Expectancy
3.) Human Development Index (HDI)
4.) Health Index
5.) Educational Index
6.) Income Index

My data source is from the renowned Global Data Lab (GDL) - an independent data & research center at the institute of Management research, Radboud University, Netherlands
https:///QiNTogrb6c

GDL started compiling data from 2003, hence BAT's Performance is evaluated from 2003
1.) Global National Income Per Capita
BAT(2003-2007):

In 2003 at 8.887 & in 2007 at 9.218. Had a growth of 3.72% Lagos(2007-2014):

In 2007 at 9.218 & in 2014 at 9.303. Had a growth of 0.92%

Anambra(2007-2014): In 2007 at 8.823 & in 2014 at 9.220. Had a growth of 4.50% ✅

2.) Life Expectancy
BAT(2003-2007): In 2003 at 55.40 & in 2007 at 56.80. Had a growth of 2.54%
Lagos(2007-2014): In 2007 at 56.81 & in 2014 at 58.21. Had a growth of 2.46%
Anambra(2007-2014): In 2007 at 53.55 & in 2014 at 58.97. Had a growth of 10.12% ✅

3.) Human Development Index (HDI)
BAT(2003-2007): In 2003 at 0.610 & in 2007 at 0.630. Had a growth of 3.28%
Lagos(2007-2014): In 2007 at 0.630 & in 2014 at 0.644. Had a growth of 5.40%
Anambra(2007-2014): In 2007 at 0.569 & in 2014 at 0.659. Had a growth of 15.82% ✅

4.) Health Index
BAT(2003-2007): In 2003 at 0.545 & in 2007 at 0.566. Had a growth of 3.85%
Lagos(2007-2014): In 2007 at 0.566 & in 2014 at 0.588. Had a growth of 3.89%
Anambra(2007-2014): In 2007 at 0.516 & in 2014 at 0.600. Had a growth of 16.30% ✅

5.) Educational Index
BAT(2003-2007): In 2003 at 0.645 & in 2007 at 0.634. Had a DECLINE of -0.011%
Lagos(2007-2014): In 2007 at 0.634 & in 2014 at 0.702. Had a growth of 10.73%
Anambra(2007-2014): In 2007 at 0.560 & in 2014 at 0.686. Had a growth of 22.5% ✅

6.) Income Index
BAT(2003-2007): In 2003 at 0.647 & in 2007 at 0.697. Had a growth of 7.73%
Lagos(2007-2014): In 2007 at 0.697 & in 2014 at 0.710. Had a growth of 1.86%
Anambra(2007-2014): In 2007 at 0.637 & in 2014 at 0.697. Had a growth of 9.42% ✅

From the above 6 indicators used in measuring public governance performance in low-middle income country, PO outperformed lagos of Fashola & BAT in ALL
Factoring IGR, investments in lagos since colonial days & the civil war, its safe to say Peter Obi is in a league on his own
So comparing Lagos with Anambra in terms of the globally accepted developmental indicators is an INSULT to Anambra state & the leadership of Peter Obi.

As if that were not enough, let's look at the departing gift Peter Obi presented to Anambra state & BAT to Lagos state
To proof that his education at Harvard Business School, Kellog School of Management, Oxford & Cambridge weren't just for fun, PO in his handover note left local & foreign investment savings in billions of Naira & cash savings for the state as can be seen as attached & verified

As seen in one of the image in the last tweet, the investment had a MINIMUM 2years maturity period before the state can sell part of it for liquidity

In attached images, u can see how the next government generated funds from the investments PO made on behalf of the state.
These are funds, Peter Obi could have easily stolen like many governors in Nigeria shamelessly do.

Show me any servant leader in Nigeria's history at least since 1999.

Meanwhile He did all of this and still chose to deprive himself of ALL entitlements as an ex-governor.

Contrast that with BAT

He left 27 billion naira in the treasury & a whopping 100billion naira debt for which his successor increased to over 400 billion naira.
The self serving leader also proposed huge renumeration for himself as seen in the image below

Dear Citizens of Nigeria, this day life & death has been presented to you, choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;

Anyone who is honest with himself and without tribal sentiments would agree that Tinubu is way more qualified for the presidency than Peter Obi. But Tinubu's age outrightly disqualifies him, no arguments there. That leaves Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar and whoever else has a good manifesto

Imagine if Anambra state had a wharf and was directly importing and exporting goods to other countries....

The money that Tinubu controls till date...He will never be poor.....

He doesn't need to be a president to be respected.....

Plus, he is not fit and should not come and turn Nigeria to his family business....

And you believe this gibberish?
Lagos is the 5th economy in Africa.
Anambra survives by hanging to the feeding bottle of the federal government of Nigeria.
Without FGN,Anambra is dead.
Lagos is just like a country in a country.
All the former governors of Lagos did pretty well but Lagos never became a worthy Economy in Africa even when Nigeria was stupendously rich until 1999 when Lagos began to grow economically facilitated by Tinubu and his formidable team....Fashola,Ambode,Sanwo Olu..
No be beans to be the 5th economy in Africa.

Inspite of the fact that Lagos was Capital of Nigeria for 77 years fa!! I think Tinubu shouldn't use Lagos to campaign but to use his tenure instead. Trains bought by SANWOOLU is not used to praise Tinubu. Meanwhile that company that made the trains were in existence during Tinubu era

A whopping amount of N14 billion was expended on 417 road construction projects spanning 250 kilometres across the state in the first three years of his administration. 255 of these roads were already completed at that time while others were near completion.

Construction of Adeola-Odekun

Dualisation of Ikorodu-Itokin-Epe Link Road

Dualisation of Ejigbo-Ajao Estate/Airport Road.

Dualisation of Mende/Opebi Link Road.

Expansion of Badagry Expressway.

Also during the first three years, six strategic roads were upgraded to dual carriageway status complete with streetlights, drainage channels and walkways. They are Ikotun/Igando Road in Alimosho, Kudirat Abiola Way in Ikeja, Akin adesola Axis in Eti-Osa, Itire-Lawanson Ojuelegba-Yaba Road in Mushin, Surulere and Mainland LGAs, Awolowo Road in Eti-Osa, and Lagos Island Local Governments Areas, and Moshalashi-Agege Motor Road in Mushin Local The government began laying the foundations for the megacity goal of the state and this brought about the revival of so many sectors in the state of which transportation was one.

Asiwaju resuscitated the moribund Lagos State Ferry Service by rehabilitating the grounded five ferries in the fleet namely; MF Babakekere, MF Jubilee, MF Ologe, MF Topo, MF Illo, and MF Omu all having the capacity to transport over 1000 passengers.
Asiwaju carried out the dualization of Oregun road.
Asiwaju created the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transportation Authority (LAMATA), a public-private partnership agency, as a way to reform the transport system in Lagos to create a world-class intermodal integrated transport system for the megacity goal of the state.
Revival of the light rail network by Bola Ahmed Tinubu as part of the Greater Lagos Urban Transportation Project. The blue line of the project was designed to run 27.5km from Marina through Okokomaiko with 13 stations and an end-to-end journey time of 35 minutes. The redline is designed to run from Agbado to Marina, it will share the right-of-way of the Lagos-Kano Gauge.

Dear Citizens of Nigeria, this day life & death has been presented to you, choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;
Selah
Why can’t you present that life and death to your parent and relatives

all his indexes can be seen in the reason why most of them join night buses on a daily to relocate to lagos.the health index shows in the difference between the teaching hospitals of both states,it also shows in the Infrastructural developments between the two states.it shows in the continuity in successive government of both states,it shows in the security architecture of both states...infact e choke.

I'm a Yoruba Muslim,I m supporting tinubu because of tribaslism.
I sincerely know atiku and obi is million times better than tinubu infact tinubu is worst than buhari and has also promised to continue the hardship were buhari stoped plus his Boko Haram ticket.
But I'm supporting him more especially as he will steal ss/se oil and gas money and use it to develop our region plus employ we yoruba muslim and some Yoruba Christian's as head of all organization.
Also we will benefit and share middle belt land if they are finally conquered with the Boko Haram tickets tongue tongue tongue tongue

I'm a Yoruba muslim but Lagos is is a no man's land,my father even told me so.
Moreover Lagos is also the commercial capital in Nigeria so you shouldn't ask that question.
What more igbos and ss are now the latest owners of Lagos.

anambrarians are not running to Lagos to take refuge, there are Anambra people in jigawa, kano, calabar, gombe, south Africa, Netherlands,ph ,Edo state ,taraba just the same way they also live in Lagos. You hardly see a taraba, gombe, edo, south Africa indigene shouting that Anambra people are trooping to his enclave.... it's only the Yorubas...

There are many Lagos indigenes here in Anambra but you hardly see Anambra people shouting ;why are you trooping to our state.

popular actor segun arinze whose father was from badagry in Lagos was born in onitsha, Anambra state.
this is just one of the many Yorubas (lagosians included) who took refuge in Anambra...

but again.... Yorubas are still primitive

A whopping amount of N14 billion was expended on 417 road construction projects spanning 250 kilometres across the state in the first three years of his administration.
255 of these roads were already completed at that time while others were near completion.

14 billion spent in dualizing an already constructed road....
he will always find a way of attaching his achievement to an already existing one..
That why there are only a handful of his pictures commissioning projects
