Let me digress a bit but still on the same issue Talking about funding of our universities, something is not just adding up for me o, and that is; what has TETFUND been doing since its creation I know about some beautiful edifices being erected in many Nigerian universities by TETFUND from the time the ASUU-FG agreement of 2009 was signed till date. I also know some handful of lecturers that have been sponsored abroad for postgraduate studies by TETFUND.. Yet, ASUU keeps complaining of FG not injecting 1.3 trillion naira into the system. I'm sure that if proper checks are done, it would be revealed that more than 1.3 trillion naira has been spent by FG since that agreement was signed. I'll like someone to help me reconcile the difference between TETFUND and ASUU'S demand for 1.3trillion naira. Again, about laboratory equipment and sundries in our universities, why can't TETFUND also channel some of her spending in that direction? If beautiful structures can be built, why can't lab equipment be procured using same channel? Or, is it a case of people not being able to sit down and prioritize their expenditures? I'm asking all these because we need to be sure what ASUU is really up to? Like if what they want is pay raise, why not go straight to the point instead of lumping up issues and making everything appear complex? Read the link below and see the argument FG is making: https://www.vanguardngr.com/2022/09/resumption-vcs-succumb-to-fg-open-attendance-register-for-varsity-lecturers/ |

Haywhy3579:They are fighting for the betterment of education in Nigeria. There's money to sort ASUU but FG has little interest in giving money to sort education. I saw this online: ❗Yesterday I confirmed that African leaders are the richest in the world.❗ They arrived at UN in newyork each in a convoy of over 20 powerful vehicles hired from American car hire companies. I was shocked to see European leaders arriving at UN for the UN General Assembly in small cars and some arriving as a group of European leaders in Coasters.. The Prime Minister of UK arrived in a small car with the Prime Minister of Norway while Prime Minister of Italy arrived in same small car with prime Minister of Luxembourg one of the wealthiest economies. The Germany chancellor arrived in a Mercedes benz with Prime Minister of sweden and prime Minister of Denmark, and three of them sleeping at a budget hotel in Manhattan. African leaders took over very expensive hotels in lower Manhattan which is the headquarters of the Wall Street and the most expensive area in Manhattan borough. Each African leader is staying in a separate five star hotel with his delegation of politicians from his country. The African leaders plus their entourage are buying expensive items in newyork. Prime Minister of Israel is sleeping in a budget office far away in Queens borough of newyork while Dutch Prime Minister is in the same budget hotel with Prime Minister of Malta and President of Czech Republic which is a highly developed nation..The Prime Minister of Slovakia is sleeping in Harlem in newyork in a budget office together with leaders from Jordan. The most shocking part of it is that African leaders took over atleast 39 five star hotels in newyork, the same Africa leaders are engaging European leaders asking to help them to increase financial support to respective African nations. I my self saw a Germany chancellor looking at African leaders arriving in big motorcades in total disbelief..he was shocked but still he went ahead to meet them. African leaders in New York are in pomp and proving how rich they are.. It was estimated that the presidential entourage of over 100 delegates from Nigeria to the present UN general Assembly was the highest in the history of the assembly it self. It was also estimated that each delegate will cost the government not less than 10 million naira in estacodes and other allowances. At this critical time of economic hardship, spending billions of naira to take more than 100 delegates to an assembly where the president is the only relevant person speaks volumes to the ineptitude of the government. It is such a shame that the same government with such embezzlement audacity continues to tell Nigerians that there is no money to fund education. 3 Likes 3 Shares |

We are in trouble in this country. I never knew there was a "National Board for Arabic and Islamic Education," headed by a professor, and populated by over 5000 employees, spending N8 Billion annually, to conduct examinations for 1000 students. |

And I know 3 of this professors, one was my project supervisor... And I can say that the three I know all died of Natural causes, they were not poor or unable to cater for their medical bills... Maybe they were not able to go abroad for medical treatment but they are not poor people, if Nigeria medical system was better maybe they still be alive today 2 Likes |

Sweetplum:Corruption in government does not justify corruption in the academe! How has the university managers and ASUU accounted for the monies they have been generating. I included ASUU because they are parts and parcel of the university management. I'm not trying to absolve government of blames but we need to tell ourselves the truth at all times if we must solve our problems 1 Like |

E lecturer, were you going to let this evil govt play them like this? How could this govt negotiate with bandits but can’t negotiate with lecturers rather resort to intimidating them with court order? This ASUU strike still lingering,is a huge determining factor in APC's chances of winning the election next year. Yet dumb fools whose children are bearing the brunt of the strike will still zombishly troop out to vote APC, the party of destruction. |

What are they professing? Their places will naturally be taken by others who are eminently qualified. God knows their is an ample supply of qualified hands to take over the offices they left. There can not be vacuum in nature. |

Haywhy3579: You are a confused human. You don't actually have a direction you stick to based on your previous posts. In one of them, I see you campaign against Obi and one of your points against him is that he owed workers for 6 months but here you are, condemning lecturers because they are asking the government to fulfill its part of agreement both parties made. Ain't you confused? Secondly, I see you are a strong supporter of Tinubu. Lols. A very energetic and healthy young man supporting a very sick old man for presidency!!! It's your choice though but why do you want to jackpa? I see you applied for US visa because you claimed there is nothing in to wait for in Nigeria. So you support Tinubu for president but you don't believe Tinubu has anything to offer. Na why you wan jakpa now! Guy, you gas wait and experience Tinubu government oo. You ain't going no where, mahnn. Lols |

Jman06:Fine. Let's assume ASUU is corrupt. Let's assume all other agencies are corrupt. De-market this political arrangement. Reduce costs cos if political office holders with only SSCE qualifications and he's just going to Abuja twice a week to sleep at the rep or senate is warming more than 10 profs, ASUU and other bodies ll groan. Look at the amount they are paying police, army, teachers, etc. It's not sustainable in Nigeria economy. So let political salary drop and let everyone know that the economy is poor. Strengthen EFCC and ICPC. Let them choke anyone found wanting including ASUU. |
