al-mutʿah means "pleasure marriage"

In this marriage, a man(single or married) who traveled from Surulere to Badagry can Legally contract a woman to be his TEMPORARY WIFE. He will give her a garment (gift or cash), have series of sex with her, then abandon her, and move on to another.

This is a private and verbal temporary marriage contract. It is all about sexually enjoying yourself.

One such time, a companion of the Prophet (PBUH), Abdullah ibne Masud narrates: “We were on an expedition with Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) and we had no women with us. We said: Should we not have ourselves castrated? He (the Holy Prophet) forbade us to do so. He then granted us permission that we should contract temporary marriage for a stipulated period giving her a garment.” (see Sahih Muslim book 8:3243).

This is why the Muslims men today will take a woman to a hotel, lodge for 3 days or more. He might even refer to the woman as his wife. Afterwards, they will never see each other again. Many in the Arabic world do this each time they go to free countries. Funny enough, they take even virgin women, deflower them and go about looking for other virgins to deflower.

Marriage is also called a union. It served a huge purpose and continues to. Years ago a nation could be spared invasion if they have a marriage alliance with the invaders. Marriage affords one partnership, care, love, and assistance. The reason why many people suicide is because of a lack of care. Some people come into your life and then your heart builds dependency on them. The loss of such a person can be almost impossible for many to bear.

In many Muslims countries, a man is the bread of the woman because the society denies her the opportunities to education, job, protection. If such a man should leave, that woman is doomed. In Bangladesh, that is the story of many Muslim women as well as many other Islamic states. So marriage to those women means, life. For a man to walk in and walk out means that her life and that of her offspring is totally ruined.

Your idea of marriage is suited for the free world where feminists create a space of pseudo-equality with men. In the real Islamic world, a woman is doomed for life when she is deserted. That is how evil this act is. Cos' virginity is highly priced. A woman without it is as good as a slave.
