I'm so happy for today's game. Arteta and the team seems to have learnt how to control the game from a winning position and that's something that's been underrated. I'm really impressed how we weren't looking for more goals after being 2 goals up with a man advantage. So glad we didn't naively fall for Conte's plan Saliba is a gift to us mehn. His composure, reading of the game and maturity belies his age. Gabriel on the other hand was a bit jittery esp after that PK but he grew into the game. His rush of blood was what caused that Penalty cos there was no reason to lunge into that tackle on Richarlison. He needs to thank the attack for bailing him out again ![]() White have been very impressive this past few weeks and today's game will add to the reasons why Arteta perhaps isn't wrong to stick with him on the right wing. His overlapping on that right wing really helped in Saka cutting infield to create damage. His understanding with Saka is finally coming to fore. Zinchenko had a good game as he added much strength in midfield. Richarlison subpar game today also helped him Partey is always Partey. Just glad the long shots his being trying for the past two seasons finally clicked in one of the biggest and most important matches. Hopefully, this will be the beginning of more goals like this from him. ![]() Xhaka really had a very great game and capped it off with a good goal. Only blip in the game was his involvement in spurs first goal but aside that, a tremendous performance. Odegaard was unusually subpar today. His ball control, passes and movement was somehow off today, maybe due to having less days to train with this squad as he was one of those who came back late. Hoping to see more from Odegaard next week against Liverpool. Saka was really impressive today. Gave a torrid time to both Perisic and Lenglet and look to combine more Midfielders and our attackers with White acting as a perfect decoy with his overlapping runs. Good shot which partly resulted in the second goal. Martinelli was good but I think sometimes his decision making needs to be better. Also he needs to look up more and pass. Great run with the ball and layoff for Xhaka's goal. Jesus— What more can I say from him? His persistence was what caused that second goal. I don't know of any arsenal player of past who might score that goal except maybe Sanchez. Great game overall, was a menace to Spuds defenders throughout. Best signing for arsenal in a long while. Great 3points Great game. Liverpool next!!! Coyg!!

iamoyindamola:Not for me. He wasted a lot of play with excessive dribbling. This is what Pepe used to do and we will insult him. The dribbles did not produce much in this game. I wanted to see quick ball movement and touches not excessive dribbles that put us under pressure. |

BlueRayDick:The goal was advantage Arsenal. Cos that looked like a back pass. If he held it, that would have been a pk, right? Either way, good pressure. He's free from the suspension las las. A busy October ahead!! |

daveP:No, it wouldn't have been a Pk. It wasn't a back pass, reason why LLoris wanted to catch it but it slipped under him. That goal really calmed our nerve cos it came early in the 2nd half which gave us advantage to play our game |

daveP:That's one good thing about Jesus, he's always putting pressure on defence and always ready to pounce on any error . He’s a total and complete upgrade from Lacazette |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by BlueRayDick: 6:40am On Oct 02, 2022 |
daveP:It’s one of Xhaka’s weaknesses that caused that goal. He lacks that ability to control the ball and turn with it immediately. I’ve seen Zinchenko do it severally without any issues , but Xhaka seem to be unable to it hence that loose ball he played back. |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Lush100(m): 7:02am On Oct 02, 2022 |
Jodera:. It was a back pass (but under that circumstance it would not be penalized) Hence illoris was not sure what to do, Which led to him fumbling. Gabriel Martinelli has improved in bringing the ball down. Saka is back (I now see why they call him english messi) and G.Jesus is a complete striker. Liverpool next. Hopefully at least a draw but we can do it against dem if Partey is alright, the tactics are spot on and the mentality is right. G.Xhaka is looking reborn. Immediately he took that ball of Martinelli, I knew he would not miss that goal because he is a precision player. If to say the guy get speed, he would be a devastating player. |

| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Jodera: 7:47am On Oct 02, 2022 |
Lush100:Well, since the ball ricocheted from Romero's leg onto LLoris, as Romero was looking to control it. I would be very very surprised if that's given as a backpass. Liverpool is at one of their lowest form and we're at home with a full squad to boot. We need to have that mentality that we can win them. No better opportunity to win them than now and if we do, it'll give the boys renewed hope and confidence. Xhaka is actually reborn mehn. This is kudos to Arteta for bringing the best out of him. For a player who most fans(me included) wanted him to either be relegated or shown out of the club to have this massive turnaround In form and winning most people over should tell you the kind of improvement he's had. I'm really happy for him We're now seeing the best of Saka again as the understanding between him and White is growing. That guy dey terrorise every left back he's meeting (and I'm not kidding). The only person I know he's found it difficult to terrorise since his time here is just Robertson of Liverpool. Martinelli have really improved. It's been long we have the front 3 functioning well at high standard. Can't remember the last time we've enjoyed this luxury I just hope we win Liverpool and with rested players and full squad, I believe we would |

iamoyindamola: ![]() But Tbh, person needs to talk to Gabriel to calm down on his rush of blood sha. There was no reason to lunge into that tackle like that. Gabriel wasn't like this before oo |

| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Jodera: 8:09am On Oct 02, 2022 |
iamoyindamola:I'm not entirely letting go of Xhaka sha cos he had a blame in that goal too. Xhaka very poor ball control(or was it a poor pass) in that dangerous area was the very reason Richarlison won that ball again in the box which later resulted in the penalty. Gabriel was mostly at fault but it very well started with Xhaka |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Jodera: 8:12am On Oct 02, 2022 |
iamoyindamola:I think you're being too harsh on Odegaard sha. He's just returning from injury while he's came back late from international break. He might not be physically fit ystdy. Moreover, he has stood his own ground on many occasions against physical teams right from last season |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by BlueRayDick: 8:25am On Oct 02, 2022 |
As early as 6.30am today I still watched the replay of the match on Dstv channel 203 and all I saw was Xhaka losing the ball due to his loose touch in the box thereby causing the penalty . Anybody who plays ball and has understanding of football will know that Richarlison was going to shield the ball at that point he won the ball back due to Xhaka’s loose touch . At that point there’s nothing Gabriel can do, he either engages ( which obviously will be a foul cos Richarlison will shield the ball and only his leg will be there for the taking ) or he abstains from tackling will mean Richarlison will have a free pass through our defence . If anybody would disregard Xhaka’s miscue prior to the goal and focus completely on Gabriel , it speaks nothing but agenda . Even the commentator mentioned it when the penalty was to be taken that Xhaka’s loose control in such area of the field is dangerous and would always have consequence especially when u play against a Tottenham that parades Kane, Richarlison and Son upfront. |

BlueRayDick:Exactly what I explained to Sod. No how anyone wants to blame Gabriel for that penalty without first talking about Xhaka. His poor ball control at that dangerous area was a big no no. But then Gabriel himself no try reason why I blame him too. Saliba have already covered up to block that shot or engage him as he was better positioned. Gabriel should never ever have lunged into that tackle esp when it's in the box. |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by BlueRayDick: 9:59am On Oct 02, 2022 |
Jodera:I’m all in for blaming both Xhaka and Gabriel for the goal ; but putting the sole blame on Gabriel who only did what most defenders will do in that situation is a no no . Gabriel is not blameless for not timing his tackle well, but so also is Xhaka at fault for putting the defence under pressure in that kind of position. Thank God we won sha . |
