Arsenal made and executed 26 passes to the build-up to Partey's goal against Tottenham. Seems this is becoming a theme. And on the flip side also, Partey and Xhaka have still not lost/drawn a game outside the top 2 of last season. We're becoming Formidable!!! ![]()

Roland17:The tackle was rash but necessary. It's only unfortunate that the penalty was scored. With three Spurs players in good positions to score, he did what he had to do. I believe you won't deny this. |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Jodera: 2:58pm On Oct 03, 2022 |
Spy360:It's the rule of defenders that you don't slide inside the 18yard box until you're 100% sure that you'll get that ball. That situation was never even 50% for Gabriel to slide that ball plus it is not a very dangerous ball the way you're painting it. Even Roland mentioned that Saliba was already positioned to engage Richarlison same way I was saying too. Someone who's reading all these your talk would think Xhaka gave Richarlison free run to the keeper with Kane already stationed for a tapin reason which was why Gabriel acted that way but it's very very far from it. I dropped a link up and If you watch it carefully, you'll see that Saliba was already positioned to engage Richarlison while Partey and Zinchenko was already positioned to cut out any passes to Kane and Son. This probability of Spurs scoring was greatly reduced until Gabriel increased it to 99% with that foolish lunge |

Jodera:This is your perspective. But it's not correct for me. So I'll simply let it slide, probably until something similar occurs again. |

Spy360:My perspective? I dropped link for you to see for yourself. Anyways, It's good we let it slide. |

Oga, Gabriel was closer to Ricarlson than Saliba, Gabriel position was in a more defence position to our own goal than Saliba. Gabriel was on the same left hand side than Saliba. And you say Gabriel should stay while Saliba should go and meet Ricarlson. The tackle did not work yes. The tackle led to penalty yes But the correct thing was for Gabriel to ENGAGE Ricarlson . How he now does it may be contentious. Saliba was a in secondary position to defend that ball but Gabriel was in a primary position to defend that ball. |

"It was a great goal. We knew before the game he was going to be free in those areas and we practised that a lot, to find him in those areas, and he made a great shot"..... Odegaard Evidence of training manifesting on the pitch! Everyone knew Spurs would want to drop deep and hit us on the counter (which is their normal game play) thereby exposing themselves to outside the box shots. Great work and great shot from Partey at first time of asking. I always love when training ground moves always yield the goals. |

That Partey goal was his first outside the box goal in 57 attempted shots since joining the club in 2020. Hopefully, we'll see more accuracy from him henceforth ![]() Our Midfield dominator ![]()

Jodera:The link you dropped was the highlight. We all watched the game before the argument started, so the highlight won't change anything. Lus.h gave a pictorial representation yet you refuse to accept that the positions of the Tottenham players were dangerous enough to lead to goal. I can't make you see further than that, so I accepted it as your own perspective. Afterall perception is not reality. |

Spy360:I believe we're done with this talk since you said we should let it slide.. My own is that I've learnt it's good for a defender to recklessly slide a player inside 18-yard box and that causing penalty is good. So let's just leave it laidat |

Abeg...e don do ![]() Thing is Xhaka and Gabriel were the culprits. Even Saka shared part of the blame. A simple pass from Saka wouldn't have led to that goal we conceded. Xhaka also failed to clear the ball and put he defence under pressure. Gabriel made the right decision by challenging Richarlison if not the latter would have a free pass but his tackle was not good enough. Make we die this matter and let's talk about upcoming matches especially Liverpool. |

Tierney or Zinchenko against Salah ![]() I would go with Zinchenko. |

Jodera:Also, I think it is the fact that Spuds doubled Saka/ Martinelli throughout the game and that meant someone was going to be open at the top since they parked their train inside the box. |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by iamoyindamola(m): 7:02pm On Oct 03, 2022 |
Roland17:Arteta should tell martinelli to pass the ball more Anytime they double up on saka he will release the ball fast to free up his team mates but martinelli was dribbling around although he also paid off with xhaka goal |

| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Jodera: 7:12pm On Oct 03, 2022 |
Roland17:Yeah, I think that was their plan plus they felt confident of arsenal players not always taking outside 18 shots. I know how many times they left Ben White and Odegaard free spaces to take shot knowing that they must give either a pass or chipped through balls. Las las, the Partey shot shock dem ![]() |

We Don watch match finish since 2.30pm on Saturday, but see us still arguing amongst ourselves who caused the only goal we conceded when we scored 3 good ones..... ![]() It feels so good that we are arguing over a game that was won sha and not us fighting each other with bitterness over another loss. |

Jodera:How do u go from the most despised arsenal player to a player that turns in one good performance after another every match? Xhaka needs to introduce us to his juju man ![]() |

mostob:I believe in "if something isn't spoilt, there's no need to fix it". If Zinchenko can do it against Richarlison and tottenham, then he deserves to start against Liverpool. I just need Partey to be fit. Actually ehh, we need to beat Liverpool oo. Have arsenal ever beaten klopp since he came to England? Just once oo, and that's under Arteta 2-1 win |

BlueRayDick:Lol, Omo, there's no greater story than Xhaka I'm telling you. From most hated, most booed(I don't remember Arsenal fans booing a particular player) to one of the most loved players. Mehn, him suppose write another book on his time at Arsenal after him retire ![]() |

| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by mostob(m): 8:07pm On Oct 03, 2022 |
Jodera:We beat them via penalty in the community shield. Liverpool are not that strong again. I just pray Tiago doesn't play. Going by the match up, we suppose beat them this time around. |

mostob:Yeah, even in Carling cup too. Tho I wasn't specific but what I actually meant was In league duels sha. I think it's just that once I think Thiago will play since he's fit (played against Brighton) But their form haven't been that impressive and I just hope we capitalise |

Against liverpool, Na Teneiry dey my mind. If xhaka and Partey are fit and firing Zinny may not be that needed. Sincerely, I am hoping we beat liverpool, They aren't that strong this season But one thing is, they have goals in their locker, So we have to match them, |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Roland17(m): 10:10pm On Oct 03, 2022 |
iamoyindamola:This is what I was trying to show you on match day. Imagine if Saka was busy dribbling and did not release the ball to White that set up Partey for the 1st goal? How about our 2nd goal? Saka dribbled his way into the box and made a quick decision to test the goalie with a shot which Lloris fumbled and Jesus pounced on it. Imagine if he was still trying to re-dribble? The time Saka tried to hold on too long to the ball dribbling after being doubled, it led to a counter that caused the penalty. I counted at least 3 times Martinelli over dribbled and we lost possession leading to counter attacks. We were just lucky that Spuds did not capitalize or our defenders sniffed it out. Against a team sitting really deep, you need to be quick in making decisions so that they don’t reset. |

Jodera:Saw a clip where the exact same style was attempted on Chelsea. Like exact same moves. Difference was White was not involved in the Chelsea own but was against Spurs. Mendy couldn't catch it but it went off bar. Very close. |

Its somehow that Sanchez and Monreal had a lively pairing than Nelli is currently seeing. Infact Kolasinac too before he was giving rubbish moves. If Nelli is going to be effective,he needs his own Odegaard on that LHS. Else, all we have will be space with few goals. Nelli too needs to be conscious of Xhaka. That 3rd goal was cos he was dispossessed and ball fell to xhaka. Well, lets put that match behind us abeg. We get Bodo Glimt and Liverpool, i think. |
