Lush100:I think Zinchenko should play. Going by how we do overload that left wing, Salah will have no choice but to defend. Playing Tierney because of Salah will carve out our Midfield. At the bolded, was it deliberate or a mistake? This is like the 3rd time I'm noticing it now. |

daveP:Going by how Arteta is setting up his team, I doubt we'd see something like those again. Tierney and Martinelli could have been a great pair though. They were unplayable in some UEL matches that year. |

iamoyindamola:If we don't pay him, another club will poach him and pay him even higher. Do u think a club like Man utd that pays Sancho( who is not even better than Saka by any standard) as much as 350k weekly will not offer Saka 250k the moment he rejects our our offer? |

iamoyindamola:I fully support this. Give him straight 200k from 30k and Martinelli will be looking for 250k when he wants to sign his. Jesus might look for 400k when he wants to upgrade his too.. If the 200k is made up of add-ons, it'll be better, at least it'll motivate him to play more better. It'll be somehow for us to lose Saka like Rashford or Martial because of high wages. Arsenal should be wise about it so that we don't lose Saka to our due to him not extending as well as not giving him exorbitant wages so that he doesn't lose focus |

Jodera:If Saka's contemporaries like Halland, Sancho are rumored to be earning 375k and 350k respectively ( being very important players for their respective clubs like saka is for Arsenal) ; tell why u think Saka's agent would not be out to.get something huge for his principal in this contract negotiations. I wouldn't mind us giving him the 200k if it will include add-ons like u rightly said o. Afterall the pepe wey we carry big money sign and big money salary no just dey Enjoy proceeds of his fraud at the club ![]() |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Jodera: 11:19pm On Oct 04, 2022 |
BlueRayDick:Halaand is the most sought after striker in the world so it's really understandable for him to command such a wage. His numbers are so damn unreal and ridiculous prior to man city so him going into any big club, it's expected of him to command such wage. He's an anomaly in this case not the norm. As for Sancho, Man u are acting like magas giving ridiculous contracts to people not deserving of it and this is due to their desperation or sort. Imagine Antony of ystdy wey no dey even command shirt for Brazil neither is he posting unreal numbers earning 200k. This is having a rebound effect on that team and it's one of the reasons why it might be long before they get it right. It's one of the main reasons we're getting it right too(shedding off unnecessary high earners) Let's take a look at G.Jesus. We need him, he's 25, he's got experience and talent yet he's earning 194k(less than 200k). That's how it should be. If to say Saka dey sign 6yrs contract, I wouldn't be too disturbed but for just a reported 3-4yrs contract(especially if it's 3yrs), I'm surprised especially the rebound effect it might happen if he wants to extend again or others wants to extend. |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Roland17(m): 11:52pm On Oct 04, 2022 |
Jodera:My questions for you are simple.. Has Saka done enough with Arsenal to command that sort of contract? Does he have international notoriety and respect amongst his peers to command that kind of contract? Has Martinelli or any other player for that matter done anything remotely close to what Saka has done for us since he transitioned to the first team? We are talking about our most valuable player here not a one hit wonder! I believe the man has earned his contract, reward him accordingly. |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Jodera: 12:37am On Oct 05, 2022 |
Roland17:He's done a lot for arsenal but it's not just about giving him a contract that might make him lose focus or be a platform on how others would want their own wages to be like(rebound effect). We know how the Ozil and Auba saga panned out and these aren't one hit wonders either. I'm not against him earning the 200k, what I'm wary about is the effect it might have on him and on the squad too. I was thinking it'll even be 150k from his 30k(5x what he's earning) for the 3-4yrs, then if he wants to extend again, well be talking about 200-260k or thereabout depending on how in-form he is. The 200k as base wage for such short duration doesn't feel too right. And just to add, the Martinellis, Tomi, Saliba and others are all earning less than or slightly above 100k if I'm not wrong. How their increment will be might surely have an impact on how they see the jump of Saka own, especially if they continue such exceptional performances. We all know how agents can act |

Jodera:We don’t have to punish Saka for meeting criteria for such contract. That is why I asked, has Saka done everything for Arsenal to deserve such contract conversations? You are talking about a contract that will make him lose focus, I mean no one goes into contract negotiations with that mindset in professional sports. If the player has earned such demands and possesses the value, then he should get it. It’s not up to me and you or Arsenal to determine if such amount will affect his performance, he is an adult. Would you rather under pay him and have a disgruntled player who happens to be your most valuable player? Martinelli of which day? Martinelli has absolutely no moral or performance right to ask for anything close to what Saka has asked for. If I am not mistaken, this is Martinelli’s brightest start to a season. Arteta and Edu have shown that they are going to be shrewd when it comes to contract situations and only players who have earned it should get it. Tomi/ my boy Saliba and others have not done half of what Saka has done consistently since he transitioned to the first team. We are talking about an England regular and first 11, finalist in the Euros with numerous individual accolades to go with his skill set, play making abilities, versatility and availability. This isn’t the time to rob Peter to pay pay Paul. There is absolutely no cause for concern when it comes to rebound because every player will be graded based off performance and value. The last thing we want to do is drag this contract and make Saka disgruntled because the other players in the locker room know this is the most valuable player on the roster and are keenly monitoring how you are treating him. If you decide to treat your most valuable player's contract situation with levity, be rest assured that the other young players will listen to the noise outside and you would have successfully sabotaged our season. Arteta knows Saka almost single handedly saved his job despite running him to the ground. |

Jodera:I don’t think u understand the effect of having disgruntled employees who feel underpaid in an organization. Let me tell u, the moment an employee sees his contemporaries who aren’t as important as he his in his work place at theirs earning way higher salaries ; such employee will be looking for ways to change jobs . You can’t even blame the employee for not being loyal at that point cos he has a right to seek for higher pay elsewhere . Saka has earned the right to get an improved contract in that region of 200k in this inflated market ; when the time comes for Jesus to get an improved contract it will be the work of his agent to negotiate whatever his services are worth at that time . |

I understand Chelsea are monitoring G. Martinelli. They can monitor all they want like evil spirit, we are not selling ![]() Arsenal have also commenced contract extension conversations with my boy Saliba As we are aware Saka the GOAT has indicated he wants 200K/ Wk with a UCL qualification clause. Anybody remember last season when I said this was going to be a big consideration for Saka before he signs? Well, here we are! Personally, I don't like contract negotiations during the season. I'd rather during the offseason because they can become a huge distraction for the player and the team during the season. I also understand Pep and Klopp are closely monitoring Saka's contract situation. I hope we can resolve Saka/ Saliba's contracts before the WC. I hate when players leave their clubs for National team assignments with unresolved contract issues. A lot that is out of our control happen when players are with their national teams. #COYG |
