This is a question that so many people are not clear on and i have decided to explain it here.


Ijaw is an Ethnic Nation that comprise of different sub ethnic groups under it all of one ancestry.


These sub ethnic groups have clans under them, these clans have communities under them
and the communities have different villages and settlements.


The largest one is Izon. the other ones are Kalabari, Nembe, Okrika, Ibani, Ogbia, Obolo, Oro Engenni, Abua, Epie etc. They are all Ijaws because they share one Ancestry not necessarily because of one language. It is now that we are arranging on a central dialect different from the Kolokuma Ijaw had settled for of which this one will be of the interest of all Ijaws even as we prepare for Ijaw Republic .

Put them as one and you know that Ijaw is very large.

The whole tribe name was Izon before but white people came and changed it to Ijaw and now the real name Izon is now stereotyped to the largest group among these nations of one Ancestry.

Yet Igbo still popular and still a major tribe.

Secondly, Ijaw are tenants in Ondo. Apoi are not even Ijaws sef. As a matter of fact, the history of Apoi are actually Yorubas from Ile ife meeting with the Ijaw hence Apoi. Their root stemmed from Ile ife. Their language, their names and their ancestral roots are from Ile Ife.

Only the Arogbo are Ijaws and they're settlers!

Western Ijaw is Ondo Edo Delta Ijaws.

Central Ijaw is Bayelsa and Ahoada West Ijaws.

Eastern Ijaw is Rivers Akwa Ibom Ijaws. Oro is not yet added until they see us and clear the issues on ground. But they are Ijaws even they agreed.

From the history of Apoi. Their early migration was from Ile Ife (they're Yorubas) before the Ijaws settlers from Baylesa came to meet them. Hence, they're not Ijaws. The whole area occupied by both Apoi and the Arogbo settlers is called Ese Odo which is a Yoruba name. So what are you saying exactly?
