The floods in Kogi state have created a major crisis for millions of people and done immense damage to the infrastructure of the state.

The roads are blocked, lives have been lost, homes have been swept away, panic has set in and chaos reigns in parts of the state as a consequence of fear.

The Governor of the state, my friend and brother Governor Yahaya Bello, is doing his very best to stem the tide and restore normalcy but it appears that he has been left on his own to manage this ecological and humanitarian crisis by the Federal Government.

I call on the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari, not to neglect or abandon Kogi state and to direct the relevant agencies, including NEMA, to swing into action and come to their aid.

I urge and implore him to intervene in this humanitarian crisis in a positive, impactful and meaningful way.

The good people of Kogi state deserve all the help they can get from the Federal Government including financial support and intervention and the formal declaration of a humanitarian crisis.

The Federal Government and the nation cannot sit by idly and watch this tragedy, caused by nature and the elemental forces, destroy the infrastructures of the state and not intervene.

My heart and prayers go out to the Governor and people of Kogi at this difficult time.

Many of us are deeply concerned, are with you and are praying for you.

Stay strong and know that you are not alone!

This too shall pass and all shall be restored.

May the souls of those that have lost their lives in this crisis rest in peace and may the Lord strengthen and comfort their families and loved ones.

It's advisable for people living in such area to relocate to mainland, travelers should try to observe the weather before making their move along flood affected areas

Politicians have two bus stops, one election and the other. In-between is stealing and lording over the people. The day our votes begin to count, the country will start moving forward. The money he wasted in his presidential campaign and sensitisation is enough to arrest this situation.

Some motorists have decided to follow Minna road. It's a longer but better option.

The irresponsibility shown by politicians and government in Nigeria is mind boggling. They couldn't even stop the traffic and redirect vehicles to use alternative routes or just ask them to return if there are no alternative routes? They just allowed long line of vehicles carrying thousands of people to be endangered in such manner?! All those people stuck in the middle of that crazy flood are like sitting ducks living by grace. Because if the water level rises a bit which is very possible, they will all be washed away!!

Even now, if the government is responsible both the federal and state, they would have brought in helicopters to start airlifting some of the stranded passengers to safe grounds. Yet the writer was even praising Yaha Bellohuhhuh? What has that fool done to help these stranded travellershuhhuh

Yahaya Bello said once tinubu becomes president, the flood will disappear.
I think you’ll have to prepare to stay much longer than expected.

That should be the road through Jebba axis? Hope the road is better now. It was an absolute shambles some years ago why I passed through it.

The road is not that good o but motorists still use it. I passed it from Ilorin to Abuja two years ago.

Did he actually say that? By the way, I don't put it beyond him. Nigerian politicians are renowned to be absolutely braindead. Just trying to confirm if he said that.

Shame? That's a word conspicuously absent from a Nigerian politician's lexicon. Seems you've not been studying them. I used to tell people that the problem of Nigeria is not corruption. The problem is the absolute lack of shame on the part of Nigerian rulers. They don't seem to understand what it means to be in a position of responsibility (the muppets actually see their offices as position of authority, rather than of responsibility).

This is the cause of the fuel scarcity that surfaced in Abuja earlier in the week. The fuel trucks were caught up in the road block. God help Nigeria.
