In all this, one thing I know is that any tribe or tribes in Nigeria planing the down fall of another, will go down faster before their plan will even begin.

A voice note isn't my problem.

My problem is that a presidential candidate wants to remove import restrictions in Nigeria.

Like what the Bleep?

Within 2 months of such stupid policy the dollar reserve in the central bank will be empty.

Millions of employees will lose their jobs.

Even people that produce biscuit will close their factories.

It's scary in this e-commerce era where I can order for 1 million crates of eggs abroad, 200,000 cartons of frozen chicken online, and throw poultry farmers into joblessness.

Nigeria will suffer the worst balance of payment deficit ever known to humanity.

Wow. Just wow!

Importation is not out problem.

We are not importing the right things.

People buy our crude. Refine and sell to us for higher price.

People buy our cocoa, refine and sell chocolate to us.

People buy our palm refine and sell back to us.

DO u get where I'm going with this?

We are importing finished products and exporting raw material currently.

That's a recipe for failure. You can't block importation to help local consumption. Demand and supply doesn't care about your feeling.

Shift us from consumption of finished product to exporters of finished product.

Currently we import fuel when we have crude. Why not refine here in Nigeria.

Corruption.

So. U see. We need to get a president ready to work. And I'm sorry we don't need a sick president.

You must be coming back from the moon to believe that nonsense written by the APC.

Where is the building of refinery every year?

Where is the constant power generation?

There is import restriction on cement that is why Dangote and Bua can successfully run their factories.

There's import restriction on noodles, that is why dufil (indomie) exists.

There is import restriction on some categories of pharmaceuticals, that is why emzor exists and employs pharmacy graduates every year.

There's import restriction on poultry that is why poultry farmers have jobs.

Removing import restriction contradicts the wish for Nigeria to become a producing economy because our fragile local manufacturers will be competing with manufacturers from countries with comparative advantage.

Nigeria will be a dumping ground.

At least you responded politely...

Do you think the import restrictions on cement is well thought out?
What is the benefit to ordinary Nigerians?
Don't you think it favors just the companies owners and not the masses because it would have made the prices of those goods cheaper compared to the exploitation people are currently facing.

You are talking about indomie, compare the prices of noodles when the sector had no restrictions to this period.

Just tell yourself the truth, what is the benefit to ordinary Nigerians OR are the prices after better than the prices prior to the restrictions?

What Nigeria needs is selective restrictions for some sectors and open market for some sectors.
I guess you are comfortable with the present pricing of the current set of Telcos, Cement companies, rice, sugar, etc?

Sectors with high prices(big players, big industries etc) should be make unrestricted to give room to competition which may give rise to lowering of prices, and sectors that are majorly occupied by start-ups, SMEs should be restricted to allow them grow, just as other reasonable leaders are doing in other countries.

This is not a rocket science, remove the hatred and political differences and you will understand what Peter Obi said very well.

This is not a rocket science, remove the hatred and political differences and you will understand what Peter Obi said very well.

The price of dollars in the Nigerian money market is high because of scarcity of dollars.

If Dangote produces his cement in Nigeria in Naira and pays its workers in Naira and you buy in Naira, no dollar is lost in Nigeria.

If Dufil produces indomie in Nigeria in Naira and pays its workers in Naira and you buy indomie in Naira, no dollar is lost in Nigeria.

Importation of cement or indomie means that you will lose hundreds of millions of dollars annually, that can be used for other things, to buy the same cement and noodles that could have been produced in Nigeria without you losing that amount of dollars.

Importation reduces dollars in the economy thereby making the Naira lose its value consistently.

This is the simplest topic in economics. grin

Corruption is the reason why Nigeria is still importing petroleum products and has no functional refinery after nearly 24 years of return to democracy.

Importation of refined petroleum products is the biggest consumer of our Forex. Fix that problem and Nigeria's economy will improve.

How then do you say importation ranks higher than corruption as a cause of Nigeria's terrible exchange rate?

Who else has noticed that a lot of empty vessels always fight logic and embrace idiocy using the worn-out statement highlighted above?

A case of "you cannot refute my lie that I insist must be true".
If I were either of these two governors, I would add this line to my denial statement “even if I did say what is being erroneously ascribed to me, then so be it as I owe no apologies” because the good lord knows this long denial statement sounds and looks too apologetic for my liking. The southeast is too inconsequential to start stressing myself debunking lies they themselves purposely concocted to cause mischief and to assassinate my character. One idiot did this to Dr Hamzat by purposely saying the later said what he never said but I really like the fact that he hasn’t come out to explain the misquotation of his rally speech grin

You've confirmed my conclusion.

Nigeria loses dollars to importation of refined petroleum products- a direct cause.

Your claim that Nigeria is "importing" petroleum because of corruption makes corruption a remote cause.

A direct cause ranks higher than a remote cause.

Our refineries are no longer functional not because of corruption alone. A government has no business running companies. The socialist/welfarist management of the defunct refineries is also a major reason for their collapse.

What is the comparative advantage?
What is that advantage that the locals cannot also implement?
If cost of labour, storage, import, duties, taxes and transportation of the foreign market is not enough to make local production profitable then let us import, instead of prices of items going through the roof.
