If that's the case we don't need him because we have alot of people that can play xhaka position and he's the least to be considered
The fact that we are looking at partey's replacement shows he's not needed
Exactly. It's the reason why I said his place is choked up and that we don't really too need him.

But if we want to get the best out of him without us criticizing him much then the best place is one of the double 8s

Anybody that comes now will first think of being a backup before even considering of ousting Partey. Nobody will come now and bench Partey no matter how good he's. Even if Rodri or Rice comes, na bench.

It's just like Odegaard-Viera scenerio. Even though Viera is good and is competing with Odegaard, he'll always always see the bench as he's doing now until something drastic happens to Odegaard

Same as Jesus/Nketiah, White/Tomi and all others
Lokonga is a good backup but not good enough to give a like for like performance with Partey. We need someone who can give us an equal performance especially as Partey's injuries will always reduce his availability.

If Lokonga starting anytime Partey goes to injury and there's a notable drop in quality, it simply means he's not a good backup. It's as simple as that. Anytime a Player goes to injury and the fans can't wait for when that injured player will come back, it means his replacement isn't good.

If White goes to injury, nobody will be afraid cos we have a very good backup in Tomi
If Odegaard goes to injury, nobody heart will start beating because we've Viera as a very good backup.
Same thing with Jesus/Nketiah

Contrast it with When Partey goes to injury and Lokonga wants to fill in for him Or When Saliba goes to injury and Holding is told to fill in for him.

Once people heart start beating or have reservations because a backup wants to play, just simply know that he's not a good backup and Lokonga always gives that vibes anytime Partey is out.

Viera is a joy
But he can do better than this
Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by daveP(m): 8:52pm On Oct 06, 2022
Bodo tried to be disciplined in shape. Glad the left side is leaking to make the average play of Marquinhos to be overlooked. Xhaka freekick is something i want to see again vs Liverpool. It's been long we get edge of box freekick.

6/10 1st half to me. Lokonga long balls are his highlight. Good passes on ground but nothing else.

Why did Viera not score thathuh

Honestly the line up self made me lose interest in watching the match. All them Gabriel, xhaka and Matinellie have no business in that line up.

Papa Wenger would have packed academy players and they will deliver

BBC pundit is predicting a win for us at 4-1 against liverpool.
His opponent is predicting at 2-1.
Hopefully Partey is fit and thiago doesn't play.
Also against liverpool, I prefer a Teneiry.

And yes Wenger would have fielded perhaps only squad player defenders with academy graduate to fill the other spots and they usually delivery.
Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Jodera:
I tuned in to watch ystdy game because I wanted to see how Marquinhos will fare and mehn, I was somehow disappointed. I wasn't expecting Saka or Martinelli-like performance from him but what I was expecting was just a potential. A potential of a winger who is fearless, can drive with the ball and would want to take on his man — just those attempts. But I was seeing someone who was afraid to drive forward or take on his man even with the space afforded but who was always looking to cross at the first opportunity presented. Maybe ystdy wasn't his day(it happens) but I just hope and pray that's not how he plays.

Lokonga is really a tidy player and his passing ranges where good as he kept things ticking. I love the way he opens up to show for the ball esp when we want to build from the back. Still a question mark about his quality in defensive capabilities tho as it showed in the game.

I don't get why Arteta was starting Martinelli when Nelson is fit. Maybe he don't want to rush him in from the start. If it's that, it's understandable so hopefully from next week, we'll get to see Nelson start. Else, it'll be a "not so cool" management from him in terms of managing our first teamers. Also Xhaka ought not to be playing games like this since he's now an undisputed starter. Europa games like these are the reasons we unearthed Martinelli and Saka which Arteta is a beneficiary from and saved us millions. Is Arteta saying there's no one person in that academy that he can give playing time in that Midfield?
Also I don't get the reason why he's putting G.Jesus, Saka and Odegaard. Maybe to get some run-out which isn't bad but doing that at the 50+ minutes is some kind of risk too high.

Nketiah had a very very nice game ystdy btw bar that miss. And oh, nice work from Jesus to setup that assist for Viera who also had a good game bar his unlucky shots. Turner had a nice game but his passes sha. cry
Shout outs to Tomiyasu and Tierney. They were really excellent esp Tomi.

Liverpool up next.
We need to take all three points. It'll do us a lot of good and confidence knowing how we're always coming up short against Liverpool.

COYG!! wink

It all proves that His most important chess pieces are Saliba and Partey for that game.

I mean what is team like Arsenal, Man u, Barca, Ajax and Juventus looking for in Europa? grin grin
See ehn. I think that's why whispers are going in among the big money bags. Ucl is under threat backstage. We'll see how things unfold.

Going by how Arteta is setting up his team, I doubt we'd see something like those again. Tierney and Martinelli could have been a great pair though. They were unplayable in some UEL matches that year.
Exactly. once they bomb forward together, the crosses always led to goals instanta.
