He viserys knows what he is doing, I think he said it when the princess was young that ruling the kingdom was not by might or power but by diplomacy. You don't go about killing doing vawulence, that's why deamon was Denied the crown in the first place. You need to consider how he got to the throne, man has to do it jeje.
In his weak self he still came to defend her, on death bed he told her she is her only child. I guess he still believe he killed her mother, chasing a male child when he already has all he wanted.

Also, shout-out to Maddie Evans as the maid Aegon harassed, Dyana. For such a short scene, she really did some great acting with not just her line delivery, but her expressions and body language as well. I was impressed.
