You don’t even have eyes or read and understand I never told you I am a doctor, maybe your eyes Dey pain you… a hospital with good management won’t be wasting time during an emergency to allow people making video instead of focusing on how to address the emergency situation of their patients you failed to understand that part.

In an emergency every seconds counts most especially when the patients is bleeding you’re here defending such act maybe you are one of those auxiliaries workers because a doctor will understand the point I am trying to prove here

You did not watch the video.

Go and watch the video, read the report of the hospital, including the part where they referred him, and also read about why a GCS of 3 is bad....even if they had 'done something'...and a one minute video does not give enough information to make a judgement.

Good night.

Yeah, with the explanation from the hospital, a lot of things make sense. It was obvious the nurse was talking to the person taking the video , not to her colleagues

Also bleeding from nose and ears indicates severe head injury. The guy needed a neurosurgeon urgently which was why he was referred. The Glasgow coma score being low and the fact that he was probably drinking made the matter worse.

The guy did not die of negligence. He died of a severe head injury. I betcha that the trauma was too severe for anything to be done.

Drive carefully everyone
I'm not even sure he had a seat belt on, judging from the destroyed vehicle

The Glasgow Coma Scale[1] (GCS) is a clinical scale used to reliably measure a person's level of consciousness after a brain injury.

The Glasgow Coma Scale assesses a person based on their ability to perform eye movements, speak, and move their body. These three behaviours make up the three elements of the scale: eye, verbal, and motor. A person's GCS score can range from 3 (completely unresponsive) to 15 (responsive). This score is used to guide immediate medical care after a brain injury (such as a car accident) and also to monitor hospitalised patients and track their level of consciousness.

Lower GCS scores are correlated with higher risk of death.

Looking at Rico in the video, I don't think he could have passed any - eye, speak or move
Is it possible to have a GCS score that low and still be 'vomiting copiously'?

Story!!! It could not have been the friend or good Samaritan who was laughing stupidly. Certainly, they were not the ones cracking jokes and making light of the situation. It was the staff of that hospital.

The videoing could have been done by anyone - maybe those that brought him. However, the nurses were not serious. One of them was reprimanding the others.

You missed the bit where the nurses were calling on the videogrammers to help them carry the patient to a bed.

Please go back and read my comment, this time slowly.

This story does not add up. How can the person who rushed him to the hospital will all of a sudden start video recording and laughing, if he didn't care, he wouldn't have brought him there in the first place.
Secondly, was it the lady who fainted after seeing his condition will now be recording him on video and be laughing, and refuse to take him to another hospital?

Why assuming for people that are alive. The hospital has made a counter accusations and according to the video, looks like they are right. Police and the government is involved and they’re questioning both parties. The police had interviewed who made the video and posted it online. I don’t think the hospital will make such lies now. A phone was used to video and posted it. The phone has an owner so chill and wait for updates. Let the friend or Good Samaritan deny it first

From this hospital's account of events, he obviously had a basal skull fracture.

This has really slim chances of survival anywhere in this world.

Octopusssy:

The vomiting was a reflex due to increased pressure within the skull following intracranial bleeding (bleeding within and around the brain).

How can a nurse who is supposed to take care of the patient who was brought in almost dead, be videoing and laughing about it, and also refused to give a helping hand when called on to.

Is she not scared that a disciplinary action will be taken against her

For this particular case, it was wrong to ask a patient relative to help move an unconscious patient. There is a standardised protocol for moving a trauma patient, especially one who is unconscious. The way he was placed on the chair with no neck restriction shows the hospital is a joke.
The said hospital does not have the necessary equipments or technical know-how to move such, they acted based on what they have available.
They have a couch for the patient to be moved on but they didn't have enough man-power to move him on the couch, reason the nurse called for help.

And they have to refer cos they know they couldn't handle the case in their hospital

The video also showed the ineptitude of the hospital even though the hospital staff may not have done the video. A patient who was brought in unconscious with a GCS of 3/15 was placed on a Chair like that? The hospital didn't have a stretcher? No cervical collar to stabilize the neck incase of a cervical spine fracture.

E shock you? There are no standards in Nigeria.

Agreed. Sounds to me he never would have woken up even if he was in a foreign hospital. Bleeding from the nose, ear, and mouth plus vomiting is a sign of significant brain trauma... likely brain swelling or bleeding. He needed to have had a head scan immediately but too bad...

You are accepting negligence as a standard. An orderly in the hospital knows not to sit a head/neck injury patient upright. Minimum they could have down was keep him supine with his neck in a collar.

Why Diclofenac injection is their medication of choice for pain management in a patient with possible internal bleeding is another question they should answer.

P.S if his GCS was 3/15 and he was bleeding from his orifices he probably was not going to make it anyway. The hospital still needs to really improve on its emergency care however.

I wasn't in anyway accepting any negligence.
The hospital was not equipped for severe trauma cases, they were not ready for this, so they acted basically on what they have and referred.

I have no Idea, that any diclofenac was given, I didn't read that anywhere

I agree that the hospital needs to improve on their emergency services

Diclofenac injection is mentioned in the press release from the hospital.

Regarding handling severe trauma i do not expect them to have the ultimate in terms of equipment but not having a wheeled bed or even an ordinary stretcher for keeping the patient supine is not good enough. Sitting an unconscious patient upright in a chair is so wrong. It probably did not make a big difference in this specific case but might do so for other patients.

Yes they really need to improve not only on the quality of their equipment but also training of staff (doctors and nurses). It is not always by buying expensive equipment.

When you talk of the hospital not having the necessary equipment to move a traumatised patient, you make it seem as if we are talking about a bulldozer. A hospital stretcher is what i mean. With the size of that hospital and being a specialist hospital, they do not have a stretcher or any flat platform to move patients? It's a pity!

Didn't you hear the nurses calling on someone to come help them carry him?

The same dead brain youths like you are the ones defending and making excuses for the failed systems and dead brain leaders in the country who should be in retirement or psychiatric homes. Your empty brain cannot tell you that the so-called hospital where nurses are calling for help as if they were in the street or the scene of the accident, when the victim was already in the care, is a failed system.
