Across the length and breadth of Nigeria, there are local industries making significant contributions to the economy of the country.

One of such important industries is the mortar and pestle-making industry which has lots of factories concentrated around Otukpo community of Benue State.

These factories, which are owned and operated by enterprising young people, use modern tools to produce mortars and pestles from wooden trunks.
Their products are found in homes across the country where they are used for pounding and crushing food ingredients in the kitchen.

of cause you know the implication of this on our environment, the popular locust beans trees is what they use to produce the mortar, it may interest you to know that no any locust beans tree is standing again in Idoma land because of this local mortar. off cause we are all missing our local okpehe delicacies

He may be doing that after school. I know a mechanic that his two children always come to his shop to learn mechanic after school.

How many people still use mortar and pestle in recent times? I hope they plant at least a tree for every tree fell.
