If u go to Computer village in ikeja and u stay long enough like spend few hours at a repairer or seller's shop u will witness these guys boldly coming to extort them with reckless abandon. It's the same thing in Balogun Market on the island and mostly all markets in Lagos.

Some people might argue that they collect taxes on behalf of the state Govt / local government but I can authoritatively tell u it's a bold face lie. These traders pay the fees and rates due to local governments who have special task forces that enforce collection, yet they still have to pay these agberos too who are collecting and not remitting to any government coffers.

That is the problem with giving legitimacy to these touts. If a container laden truck enters any of the Lagos island markets today, the owner of the goods will have to sort as many factions of the agberos that shows up and that cost will surely be transferred to the final consumer which is me and u. When I see people defend this nonsense I just smile and shake my head.
