That's how politics is all over the world. It brings service and development to the people due to the competition. The problem with us Nigerians is that when they stop doing it after getting elected, we still vote them back to office due to tribal and religious bigotry.

Hold your leaders accountable, and vote leaders who will not bully and intimidate you when you try to hold them accountable, but respond to your criticisms with changes to save their reputation
