Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party (LP), for the 2023 general election, has called on political parties to halt their campaigns in the midst of the current devastating floods that are affecting several states in Nigeria. He stated that there should be concerted efforts among the political class towards preventing the floods.

Obi announced in a tweet on Wednesday that he was suspending his campaign for the presidency in order to bring awareness to the catastrophic floods. He noted that if candidates from different political parties can afford to buy expensive presidential forms, then they should be able to take action to assist those who have been affected by the flooding.
