@ bolded is by their govt. not parents. Most parents that do,take loans, sell stocks and put their properties up as collateral to secure loans unless they members of the elite or ruling party that again would be from the govt. cofers.

Do you have stats to support this claim?

I'm not speaking for every Chinese student and I'm not denying the gov scheme exists, but all I can say is the students I went to uni with had family money. And they were not elite or ruling class. Just wealthy.
I doubt the Chinese gov would fund shopping sprees, fancy dinners out and nice cars - which is how the majority of the Chinese students were rolling.

Sir you are not in a position to dictate to a family how they want to live their life...no one has the power to do so. No country in the world gives visa to a family man and say only later can your family join....

You think because inhumane treatment get to fly in your little world , then that should be the norm. Thankfully life doesn't work based on your thought process
how many countries do you know? Irish student visa no depandants only PhD student ! Germany block accounts ,US interview

If an Indian went to same uni with the Wayas, Otedolas, Dangote and etc, would you expect the Indian to say Nigerian students are sponsored by their families and don't sell their properties or others to fund a better education? Are the above not elites or benefit heavily from current and past govts.? Dont children of Nigerian elites drive fancy cars, close malls to shop, hire best of the best NHS doctors and so on?

You dey mind them?

The gatekeepers trying to sound politically correct. Now I know why the likes of Suella are doing too much - offspring of immigrants herself.

Reminds me of decades back when few Black Americans were opportuned to rise up the wealth ladder. They started feeling n acting like whites looking down on their fellow blacks. Now, after realising the folly of their parents, the children of these wealthy ones and other new entrants into the Upper class are now ‘ buying black’ - making a conscious and deliberate efforts to support black businesses and communities.
Because, if they don’t support their own, no one will.

It's the typical Britico arrogance and hypocrisy. Imagine someone saying ihs is chicken change. If dem born dem well make uk govt cancel ihs fees and stop receiving international students, all the gatekeepers here will remember their original country when hunger go wire them. The standard of living in Western nations will drop once they want no foreigner on their soil any longer. Is it not the amount of borrowing to fund tax cuts that cost Liz Truss her Job. That tells a story of the true position of things. The gate keepers don't know how bad the uk economy is which they are trying to even out with net migration. They thought Boris didn't know what he was doing. Olodos!

Ignoramus, most of the Chinese if not all are sponsored by their govt as a deliberate effort for them to learn western technology and go back home to develop their ever expanding economy where ready jobs are available. Does Nigeria have any plan for that.

They plan for it hence don't breed like rats ( 1 child policy) in Nigeria we have ptdf ,nndc ,amenesty office ,state scholarships boards , common wealth .all sponsor Genuine students that don't have to start selling pots , pans, towels to JAPA . It may be anecdotal evidence from my own experience. However, Chinese students are historically known to come in with and spend money in the UK. So much so that Cameron negotiated a special visa deal for rich Chinese

Lies grin they are not self sponsored, there are current allegations that they are sponsored by the Chinese govt to steal Western technologies. Reason most are studying tech and engineering courses.

We are here to debunk your narratives. Even in India there are govt backed loan schemes for their people to study in the uk. Na naija govt mumu pass, how many of those govt scholarships are accessible to the large Nigerian population. Your problem is you are not happy seeing fellow Nigerians making sacrifices to improve their lives without govt support.

Stems course is what we need ! Are they actually improving their Lives or down grading it ? From a bank manager with a driver an a house in lekki ( 5 bedrooms ) to be hanging inside a 1 bedroom with 4 depandants and be entering bus up and down !how is it improvement ? From driving a benz 2018 ( Automatic ) to driving a dead manual Mazda in the Uk ? From eating fresh organics healthy food to froozen GM food ? From warm free weather to Freezer that you need thousand of pounds to keep warm ? From see you doctor now now to been number 7m of the NHS waiting list? From been respect in your community to be look down upon by right wing oyinbo . It seem your definition of improvement is upside down . If You can maintain the level of life style you enjoy in Najia and add it then na rubbish.

True smiley

.. but then lots of people move for different reasons known to them

There's no reason a well paid Manager should make the jump unless he feels or knows he will get a better chance abroad (which they will end up getting after the initial hustle jobs)

Most people who move, I daresay 80%, arent exactly in this bracket though, so will be looking at a better life than obtainable in Nigeria

Tories would surprise you ........... wink

I wouldn't be surprised if he gets it.

Most people are analysing the situation from a moral standpoint but the MPs would be looking at it from a practical standpoint of who can help them retain their seats in the coming general election?

They know that BJ still has the support of large tranches of the tory base, as opposed to Rishi who has several factors against him ranging from his race to the perception that he backstabbed BJ and is thus very unlikely to mobilise as many votes.

Lol, I said that ihs fees is peanuts compared to the actual cost of treatment (obviously if you never require treatment then it may seem exorbitant and an unfair tax which is understandable). Furthermore, student ihs fees are cheaper than the ihs fees on other visa routes.

You have lost touch with the current realites in Nigeria, who told you there's enough organic food in Nigeria, foods that are laced with poisonous pesticides and all. If you've been away for too long from Nigeria let me burst your bubbles, all na buga. Those people living in lekki don't have confidence in the sustenance of their jobs or business in the next five years. They have witnessed their peers crashed from grace to grass is split seconds due to bad economic polices leading to loss of jobs and businesses. No one wants to go down like that you hear? So all those lekki bank manager thing are not sustainable with nothing to fall back on.

Nigerians are not stupid. Those who know are truly comfortable and who in the next 10 years or more they are still fine are not making these moves and not all Nigerians live in lekki or even Lagos.

The 115k is more like an expenses fund that is paid to the exPM's office, not actually to the individual. So they need to have an office set up for a valid reason, for example I believe Cameron has an office that does research and other work into Alzheimer's etc.

I have studied and done.

Wettn remain my children go study. If dem like make dem study tourism or whatever, their choice it is. Mine as a father would be to support them as were possible.

What you study don't mean you can break into that field even with very high competition, it is what you as the individual has uniquely to offer.
