Impossible! undecided

▪︎Jesus Christ warned His followers never to set themselves up as the Gentile rulers - politicians - over any of the others - Matthew 20 vs 20 - 28 & Mark 10 vs 42 - 45 & Luke 22 vs 25 - 27 undecided

▪︎ Jesus Christ also indicated that those who are His followers are no longer to work for food that perishes but rather for food that endures to eternity which only He can give to them, and the work He calls on all of His followers to do is to believe in the one who sent Him - John 6 vs 25 - 35 undecided

▪︎ Jesus Christ also warned His followers that they can't serve two masters in the Kingdom of God - Matthew 6 vs 24 undecided

Basically, you cannot serve the world(its politics included) and serve God at the same time. undecided
What do you mean by impossible, was Daniel not a politician..how about Joseph, David just to mention a few Bible men...pls stop taking scriptures out of context to misled people

How many of those you have listed above were indicated as disciples/followers of Jesus Christ in scripture? undecided

I suggest you take your own advice then and learn to consider that which is written in scripture in the context that it is presented so you do not continue to ignorantly mislead even your own self there. undecided

The political docility of Christians of the early church could be traced to the fact that Israel and some gentile nations were under the colonial rule of the Roman Empire and Christians were taught to be in subjection to the authorities that be at best, they were to pray for those in power and could not participate in the politics of their time.
This might have been responsible for why Christians hesitate to be actively involved in the politics of our days, whereas, the God we believe and serve is interested in the way the world is governed (Romans 13: 1, 1Timothy 2: 1-2, Genesis 1: 28).
I often hear people say 'politics is a dirty game' and i have experienced it in my school, local government and even in my church.

Irrespective of your religion, you'll alway get dirty.

Jesus confirmed that Satan is the overall ruler of this system of things! John 14:30
No wonder Satan could invite Jesus and offered him a political seat! Luke 4:5-7
The first century Christians are no part of the world {John 15:19; 17:14} because they are fully aware that Satan is in control of all the political seats on this planet {1John 5:19} that's why we are to continue praying for God's kingdom {Matthew 6:10} when Jesus will come and destroy all human governments {Daniel 2:44} until then we must stay away from the dirty game called POLITIC so as not to get stained! James 1:27 smiley

How do we influence if we allow unbelievers rule us?

Are you a Christian?

Well if you claim to be one know that the man called CHRIST only influence his disciples but as for unbelievers Satan influence them {2Corinthians 4:4; 1John 5:19} so until our Master Lord and King comes to take charge we must lay low!

You are making the same mistake that Prophet Samuel made of Jesse's children, when he looked at the stature and countenance of Jesse's first born and concluded that he must be the anointed king, whereas he was wrong.

So just by looking at Osibanjo, you assumed that he can't be corrupt? Bro, you may be surprised that if he is put under detailed scrutiny, he may come up as dirty as the rest.
From my comment, how did I assume that he is not corrupt?

Yes,

Yes again

Another Yes

A BIG YES

A thunderous YEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS !

Either by appointment or election different people were, haas been and will be. E.g in the bible : Joseph was, Daaniel was with three emperors, e.t.c the politician who beg for the body of Jesus for burial was a disciple. many early amerian senators and presidents we're geniune christians , go to south korea and see many members of Paul youngishow church are top politicians and geniunely christians.

That politics in Nigeria is very corrupt does not mean politics is sin. many geniune christins in nigera are very docile, afriad , steorotipic, myopic. Manny of the top pastors make them see politics as sin,

I have alot to say on this that I can't write

You are really daft about the Bible, so it's only the words of Jesus that is in the Bible...that means the old testament is of no important from what you are saying... Romans 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

God doesn't design man to determine what is right and wrong for his fellowman {Genesis 2:17} we must all rely on God's standard since man can't successfully direct his own step {Jeremiah 10:23} but since most humans prefer human rulers {1Samuel 8:5-6} then the human rulers demean their subjects {Ecclesiastes 4:1; 8:9} and God will not yield to their cries for help! 1Samuel 8:18

Jesus Christ Himself was not a politician, nor did He hold top office during His time yet His influence on the world we see today cannot be compared to that of any other. Same goes for that of His followers. Not a single one of them made policies, fought battles or even had jobs but we hear of them most everyday in today's world. More importantly, unbelievers have been ruling from even during the time of Jesus Christ yet that did not in anyway deter Him from influencing the world as He has. undecided

Those who claim believers have to rule the world do so of antiChrist sentiments, and have no Truth in them. undecided

1. Well, you are told that God is True and that Jesus Christ is the Truth - John 14 vs 6 -, the very Word out of God's mouth - Matthew 4 vs 4. So it follows that Jesus Christ is the standard as far as God's Truth is concerned.undecided

The Word out of God's mouth was revealed to men through God's prophets so it follows that God's Truth was spoken even in your Old Covenant. You need to carefully analyze these things to understand what is revealed. undecided

Scripture, however, is a compendium of the thoughts of men, of demons and even Satan himself, lies, and also of the Word of God. Meaning everything should be validated against that which was revealed by God to realize Truth from lies. So essentially, it is wrong to claim that Scripture is Truth. undecided

Think carefully about these things to realize what what in fact spoken to you. undecided

Jesus Christ was human, so were His disciples, yet they were not politicians, nor did they work for bread that spoils. So why must the standard be different for you?, undecided

A Christian is called to live, not according to the world and its politics but according to the Kingdom of God and God's Law and Truth. So, to hold on to politics of this world is to claim dual citizenship, and as Jesus Christ explained, you cannot serve two Masters/Kingdoms/Laws as a citizen of the Kingdom of God. undecided

There are people who by destiny are called to serve in government and advance God's kingdom in such sectors...not everyone are called to the five fold ministry. So when Christians run away from politics automatically they are giving the people of the world to take advantage of them and this is what has been happening for a long time. comments like yours are erroneous because a genuine believer can be a politician and not corrupt if that's is what he or she is called to do. As corrupt as Babylon, Daniel stood out in his days and there are still politicians today we may not know who are still full of integrity and do their job with the fear of God.
We shouldn't discouraged believers from going into politics just as you won't discouraged a believer from going into the academic world to fulfill his purpose.

1. I am afraid there are no such people. In the Kingdom of God, all are called to become more like Jesus Christ and not like any other. And since Jesus Christ did not occupy any political offices in thus world, it makes no sense to assume that those called by Him would. Also, He gave strict rules ruling out such ideas to begin with in His Law and Gospel. undecided

2. Daniel was part of God's Old Covenant Law of Moses, an agreement which applied to the children of Israel in the Land of Canaan- Deuteronomy 30 vs 15 - 20. That agreement allows the people of Israel to engage in politics of this world according to the standard set by that Law. However, you on the other hand are called to the agreement that is Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ made it abundantly clear in His Law that none of His own are to engage in the politics of this world , nor serve two masters /laws/Kingdoms as they are all of them of the Kingdom of God and not of this world. undecided

Your problem is that you read only the synoptic gospel and use it to interpret everything, is it only the words of Jesus that is in the Bible, what about the Epistles of the apostles, are they not relevant... infact if you follow only what is in the synoptic gospel you will be shortchange and I think that's what is happening to you....I don't have time to come and expound scriptures in this forum and you sound like a Jehovah witness because I know they don't involve in politics

1. I am afraid you are thoroughly mistaken there. I read all of scripture, including that which is not contained in the bounds of your Bible. And I judge all things according to that which is written of God's Law as decreed by God Himself. So, in scripture, you are told that God is True, implying the Word out of God's Mouth is the Truth, the standard by which all, even that not contained in scripture, is to be weighed against. So, I do just that, I weigh all claims against that which proceeds out of the mouth of God and voila....I have God's Truth vs lies of men/demons/Satan, even in scripture. undecided

2. Even what you call the Epistles are words of men meant by the authors to be validated against the Word of God. On several occasions, some of the authors remind you of this by insisting that what they remind are not as commanded by God but views of theirs shared. undecided

The Epistles combined don't even contained 95% of what is the gospel and Law in the Kingdom of God and so those of you who cling to the views expressed in them as if Law do so against Jesus Christ who warned you against imbibing the doctrines and traditions of men using His name - Matthew 15 vs 1 - 14 & Mark 7 vs 1 - 14 . Also, when it comes to views, God's Law is that by the accounts of 2 or 3 witnesses shall a truth be established....where 2 or 3 witnesses are gathered in the name of Jesus Christ (Truth) there He(Truth) is in there midst. However, most of the claims contained in the Epistles - those which obviously do not contradict Jesus Christ- aren't substantiated by any other witnesses, so you follow them against God. undecided

3. Here is one thing I can at least tell you. Ignorance is not bliss in the Kingdom of God. undecided

By its very nature politics is not for christians. It's not possible to be a Christian and tolerate the deception, diabolism, manipulation etc involved in politics. Christians can hold ADMINISTRATIVE/EXECUTIVE positions though.
This also applies to people that think a Christian can be a traditional ruler. It's not possible (at least in Yorubaland where I'm familiar with. I don't know about other regions).
