you are absolutely right. it is better to let this country go completely bankrupt

let us continue with importation economy. let us import even toothpicks, rather than have native industries

the countries people are all japaing to for economic succor , do you see them importing basic foodstuff?

where do you think all this pressure on the naira is coming from?

maybe dangote should also subscribe to that thinking - why should i build a refinery when there are pipeline vandals, hostile communities, etc?
. Countries people japa to ensure security for their farmers and still import rice

You stop importing food when you have the capacity to produce excess…

90% of rice eaten in Australia is still imported while they slowly increase their own production.

We’ve not even produced toothpick enough for 200million people, it’s rice they are banning

It's not possible to defend this government and sound like a sane person. In a country that has not managed security you're talking of farming. How do you farm with herdsman threat on your neck everyday, to transport your produce to the market or cross country with fear cos of insecurity

No plan no coherence everything is just to ban, ban, ban
When you want to fix something that’s not broken, you better make it better.

As it stands, price of rice is never going down but minimum wage will remain the same

This is what happens when you have people in power that don't possess any form of human kindness and compassion

How do they expect the average person to survive growing costs of gas, electricity, food, rent at the same time without commensurate increase in income

and in your mind, it is solely because of rice?

https://www.investopedia.com/terms/b/bot.asp

for years, different cbn governors depleted our foreign reserves to defend the naira. now there are no foreign reserves left, ad our income has shrunk.

THIS WAS INEVITABLE. this is what sanusi warned about repeatedly.

let us continue to import everything, and we will soon see the naira drop to N2000/dollar.
The naira didn't drop this fast before the saviour that is APC.. But after apc came to save us from being import dependant the whole naira went crashing...

Lmao.... You met dollars at 250 and took it to 800 in 7 yrs.. To make it worse you added a needless ban to boost local production through your CBN farmers borrworers programme that was a mess that it took CBN till 2022 to start tracking people they dashed money to... grin..

You dey mad

You are a fool I'm sorry.. Because your policy on growing our own food seems to be the reason you totally ban importation.

Now the food growth has shown to be useless because people are having to spend more on buying home grown.

What was the necessity for it? Did Nigerians ever cry to the government that we importing food affected our daily lives?

When you refuse to bring your conversations to the reality of the everyday Nigerian, you think yourself a smart person..

I've told you.. Each time you talk here= value lost

You dey mad
any ADULT will tell you that this was coming.

no matter who was in the seat , the naira would have fallen because every previous CBN governor was bolstering the naira with our foreign reserves

now our foreign reserves are depleted because the price of oil has fallen, our oil is not in that much demand as before, and our production has been halved

but while our income has fallen, our demand and appetite for importation has remained the same.

what is happening now is that this govt is taking some of the hard decisions that we should have taken when we had seven ears of corn. if this nation had built and completed rice mills 10 years ago , when we had a much better stream of income, we would be in a better place now.

you cannot run an import based economy with no exports and expect to have a strong naira.

why did you not list us, uk, canada, japan?

on the one side, you are all wailing about unemployment, but on the other side, you are supporting importation of everything - which places jobs in the hands of the foreigners . no nation becomes wealthy running importation. if peter obi comes in without a plan for indigenous production, but more importation prone business - on the excuse that it is too hard tom locally produce, you will see the naira drop to n2000

What is it with the destruction of alcoholic drinks in some northern state? You destroy alcohol yet, collect vat, what do you call this? You destroy citing sharia law yet collect vat of what you forbid. Sod09, bluyraydick, gloriousgbola, a40 how do you see this? Maybe amoto94 can explain to us the ruling of sharia on this matter.

Do you think if Naija rice is 15k per bag people will think of foreign rice going 4 46K or talk about its impacts ....huh?

Presently local rice is 40k wch cannot be overlook......

When trying to fix what is not even an issue...you start it slowly......

What is d sense in shutting d door to rice importation why you are not strong enough to feed yourself...

Jonathan was cursed for corruption but food wasn't much of an issue....

if dollar is N700, and you are importing rice, do you expect the price of rice to rmain low

stop talking about looking devilish - that is the way nigerians talk in the face of inevitable facts

have you not seen the prices of ALL imported items or items that require imported materials go up?

i posted a link to balance of trade, which should explain it

importation without corresponding exports is a vicious cycle - where the value of your currency will continue to drop.

importation is not a business model

Bros I will start with I don't take alcohol and it happened in Kano an Islamic state.
I kinda support the measure because logically people shouldn't be taking alcohol outside of their home.
I read Rico had accident under the influence of alcohol and died, imagine he was driving trailer into a crowd

But I have issues with those hisbah police they are one of the most useless police don't be surprised those asshole target some certain tribe or location majorly dominated by another tribe
That police is driven with biase and tribal, they also favour rich alhajis to the poor abokis

My point is Ambode started it and will surely be one of his leading project which he would have finished
Same with agric ikorodu road but sanwo olu is having as carry over and no one will blame him if he touch those projects last because he surely have his own projects too
Next year ain't sure for completion then
Sanwo-Olu has actually continued almost all of Ambode project, the mill is almost ready, would be surprised if operations doesn't start next year.

Go back and read my post slowly or get someone who's at least smarter than you to read it to you loudly, maybe just maybe it will sink it.
