Governor Sanwo-Olu Commissioned 3 Fire Stations today. by naptu2(op):
Jubril A. Gawat @Mr_JAGs

UPDATE: Governor of Lagos State, Mr @jidesanwoolu, today physically commissioned the new fire station in Ebute Elefun, Lagos Island, while he virtually commissioned the Omogbolahan Lawal Fire Station, Oniru and the Ajegunle Fire Station.

Governor @jidesanwoolu also commissioned the upgraded Fire Department headquarters in Alausa.

With the three additional assets, Lagos now has 21 fully equipped fire stations across the State.

The facility expansion programme was part of the recommendations that followed the 2020 comprehensive assessment carried out by the Lagos State Government in the emergency response department aimed at enhancing performance.

Governor @jidesanwoolu said before the end of the second quarter of next year, his administration would add another three fire stations in Ijede, Kosofe and Ijegun.

Governor @jidesanwoolu said the upgrade and rehabilitation of existing fire stations had been done to further consolidate the position of the Lagos Fire and Rescue Service Agency as a leading fire fighting outfit in the country.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Relations, @bolajiogunlende, said the Stations were designed to have their dedicated sources of power and water supply, with modern facilities for the convenience of firefighters deployed to the stations.

Director of Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Mrs. Margaret Adeseye, said the new assets would raise the capacity of the agency in emergency operations, adding that Ebute Elefun station would serve more than 20,000 population on Lagos Island dotted by high-rise buildings.

GM of Lagos State Infrastructure Asset Management Agency (@infoLASIAMA), Nike Adekanbi, described the newly upgraded Fire Department headquarters in Alausa as “an edifice built to last”, noting that the building expanded to strengthen the administrative capacity of the agency.

The new administrative building of the Lagos Fire Service, HQ now has 60 offices, with an expanded appliance bay, landscaping, perimeter fence and developed road network which was constructed by the Lagos State Public Works.

The new Oniru Fire Station in Lekki is not far from my house and I went there in August 2021 and took these pictures and made this post (it was part of a longer post about new infrastructure in that area).

Fire station

At long last they are going to build a proper fire station.

The number of fire stations in Lagos has been inadequate for decades. The Fashola Administration addressed this issue by opening many new fire stations in the late 2000s and early 2010s. However, some of these stations (e.g. the Lekki and Onikan Stations) were basically temporary or make shift facilities.

You can see a red shed and a small bungalow in the third picture below. That was the fire station that was set up by the Fashola Administration, but now the government is planning to build a more befitting station.

God help Nigerians make the right decision, So Nigeria can be run effectively like Lagos is been run . All of these giant strides Lagos is taking right from the days of Tinubu ,Fashola, Ambode and Sanwo-Olu is because Tinubu dared to dream and achieve his plans amidst the constraints he encountered as governor.
Lagos state is enough to sell Tinubu if not for tribalism holding us back, most Nigerians will ditch Abuja to work in Lagos.
If Tinubu hadn't put in place innovative policies such as LIRS , LAMATA, RRS , LASTMA, Lekki FTZ, Eko Atlantic, LASAMBUS etc it might remain as it was pre 1999 coz all these where founded in his tenure .
Why not elect someone who upgraded the mini Nigeria and made it effective.

My question is this: will they get to their destination quickly with the kind of traffic gridlock we experience on a daily basis on Lagis roads, or they will also follow BRT lane?

No Nigerian Should Take Tinubu Serious; His Health, Early School Are Shrouded In Secrecy – PDP Presidential Candidate, Atiku

This is most especially as it has been observed on several occasions that he (Tinubu) finds it difficult to hold things firmly.

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has made mockery of the health condition of his counterpart, Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking with TheCable through his Media Adviser, Paul Ibe, on Monday, Atiku said that Nigerians should take any presidential candidate whose health is “shrouded in secrecy” seriously.

Atiku made the comment while reacting to a recent comment by Tinubu, who while speaking on Sunday at an interactive session with members of the Tijjaniyyah sect in Kano State where he said he would give 100 percent of his time to Nigerians and would not be a part-time president who stays between Dubai and Nigeria.

Tinubu’s comment was apparently directed at Atiku who has been criticised for spending most of his time in Dubai since 2019 when he lost his presidential bid to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Ibe told TheCable that Tinubu’s comment shouldn’t be taken seriously and that “The president of Nigeria, the most populous country in the black continent, is not for comedians.

“The process of selecting a president is not a jamboree so the earlier the APC puts its house together and starts by having a council in place. They shouldn’t be taken seriously because of their inability to organise.

“Nobody should take the candidate of that party (APC) seriously. No one should take a candidate and a party whose health situation, early school, and early years are all shrouded in secrecy. No one should take such a candidate seriously.”

Recall that Tinubu’s state of health has raised serious concerns and questions amongst Nigerians and many have argued that he might have been afflicted with Parkinson’s disease — a disorder of the central nervous system that affects movement, often including tremors.

This is most especially as it has been observed on several occasions that he (Tinubu) finds it difficult to hold things firmly.
