Because they can afford it

1.Russia is a exporter of indiustrial, agro, and other products...as well as gas. And oil. And has a higher tax to gdp ratio than we do.

2.Saudi has 40 million people, and an oil output ten times that of Nigeria. As such they have more oil money per capita than Nigeria. That is why they can afford subsidies.(We have 200 million people.). SLS pointed that out 11 years ago.

3.And even then they don't sell fuel below their equivalent of N200 .



Yes, because

1.They earn enough income from other sources to prop up their oil companies, export gas to the lucrative European market (Rossiya) or they earn far far too much money from oil to prop up their oil companies (Saudi)...plus cost of producing crude is lower in Saudi than Nigeria.

Remember Saudi produces ten times more oil than we do. Rossiya...8 times. More cash than we do, and in Saudi's case..smaller population.


Yes, when you force NNPC to sell fuel at N175 per liter when it should be sold at N492-500 per liter or more, a lot of corruption happens. Hinder people's ability to make a profit, then you support things like smuggling, sabotage, corruption, stealing, etc..because people like to make money.

You want cheap fuel. There is nothing worng with that....but the sad thing is, it can't happen because people want to be paid and people want to make profits. Bigi man and smallie man.

Paying subsidy is done at the pump so to speak...and is why we have smuggling. Because at the end, people are going to see that it costs N175 HERE, and N400 in Benin, Niger and chad and cameroon, and do the math.

This here shows how shallow U are... subsidy is not paid at d pump... marketers just say they have imported so litres of fuel & d govt pays d balance (currently NNPC is incharge of all these)..What I mean subsidy at d pump, they buy at original market price all d way to d filling station..a sort of credit should be given to citizen monthly to used on fuel 'only' like say 10k per month on only one vehicle per family....So it's useless to smuggle a full tank or even jerricans fuel to our neighbors cause as they lack access to dat 'credit' dat would subsidise d fuel
