Military special forces in a private hotel, when US Consulate has staff quarters and Abuja has many military facilities and barracks
with this magnitude of evacuation, you can sense the intensity of the intelligence they av access to, this is a category 3 heightened security level when it gets to Category 4 all US diplomats will be on d next avaliable chartered flight to JFK, d consulate would shut down and US marines would assume War Time mode, it would be a completely restricted area and use of deadly force would be authorized

They don’t want to be associated with their embassy because of the covert nature of their mission but they have no problem with taking pictures and posting it all over social media and telling whoever care to listen that they are US special forces in the country.

Guy, make una dey reason small before posting nonsense now.
You mustn't insult people who disagree with you. Anyone who has some knowledge on how the US miltary structure works will know there's a possibilty they are indeed military. Most persons here comment based on movies and not reality.

First not every "special force" is DEVGRU, SEALs, DELTA, or CIA special forces. Those are the groups who pursue classified missions and have their whereabouts enmeshed in secrecy. There is the US Army Special Forces known as "Green Berets". They are not necessarily public but they don't act in uttermost secrecy. Active members are known to the public and their pictures are not redacted. Green Berets are involved in training military forces in West Africa including Nigeria for years now, mostly in the Ex Flintlock. When there is an elevated threat to embassies or attacks, Green Berets are deployed to provide security with the permission of the host nation. Might or might not be true but It is possible that those are a Green Beret team of 12 who are in Abuja just in case they are needed. Most Operations and exercises in Africa are carried out by Green Berets.

Below is a picture of Green Berets somewhere in West Africa earlier this year.

Every idiot now has an opinion.
You think special forces will line up in the hotel lobby with no one watching their backs and you will be taking pictures.

Look at their positioning, none watching their flanks and their 6.

This one wey rice don cost pass Igbo girls, those men are probably here to teach you how to plant rice make hunger no kill una for December.
Playing too many video games results in this kind of thinking. Here is a gentleman that fully expects a group of military men to be armed and to approach a city hotel reservation desk in battle formation, glancing left and right, while making hand signals when there is in fact NO threat in the immediate area.

Please sir, leave those video games to the teenagers. They are works of fiction whose correlation with actual reality is tenuous at best.

Have a good day and God Bless America!

Special forces and CIA agents stay in their places of choice which they believe have cleared security.
You need to watch more American movies than those Yoruba films of Odunlade and Toyin tomato
cleared security with some random guy on Twitter seeing them and recognising them? Movies are very different from real life. America will never show you how they operate in movies. They just wear glasses and form superhero just so people like you hail them

Una with fake news na 5 and 6, them write special forces for their forehead? Military men on special assignment overseas don’t wait in line, they are always cleared ahead of their arrival, most times they are picked up at the tarmac and driven off, mumu post.
una too like mumu talk. if they want to operate covertly they will be airdropped in the middle of the night.

Special forces can reside anywhere. These are military men, but their mission is most likely classified, meaning there is no point engaging these gentlemen in conversation.
Smart!!!!

Special forces stay in military zones , CIA can stay anywhere in fact they work better with the civilians
Which military zone? Do you think US will allow its special force to hang around Nigerian military camps with soldiers who are already members of Boko Haram?

Not for the reasons you stated though, but you're hundred percent right in the fact that they don't stay in Embassies. They stay in hotels because embassies are a dead giveaway. Hotels are more private. In 2014, a team of specialists were sent to Abuja to assist and coordinate a proposed rescue plan for the Chibok girls then. They all stayed at Hilton Abuja and not at the embassy.

I don't know if these guys are indeed military. But a remarkable coincidence here is their physique and the fact that they do indeed make up a complete ODA squad of twelve. Some carry camo bags too.
I heard the plan to rescue the chibok girls was leaked by the Nigerian side, so they came back.

To all those saying they can Lodge in a private hotel if you've watched 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi you know they can't stay in an hotel... If truly they are special forces then their mission is to protect the embassy and in any possible scenario evacuate the embassy staffs and other US citizens who will be directed to go to the embassy for safety. So how would they protect their embassy by staying in an hotel. Make una dey try watch real life events that are used to make action movies
