I don't think the yohako CC is bad. That is if it's really mppt. Infact I prefer it to makeskyblue. The major mistake you made is buying a 5kw 24v instead of 48v. Hope your cables are minimum 35mm2 or higher? Get solar flood lights that charge and come on @ night. You can monitor your CC and know the highest watts you have gotten from your installed panel capacity before changing your SCC.
Famicare really suprised me,as their 3.5kva 24v my bro bought has an idle consumption of 18 watts! Which is even better than my axpert 3kva. Also its power factor is about 0.95 (yea we measured) an impressive feat considering most Indian low freq inveter are pf 0.8.

Thanks Namzy, I will confirm the specs of the cables and YES, I'm changing all the security lights to solar.
Honestly, I was not on ground when this was installed and I'm doing my research on how to read the CC and understand the wattage and the numbers, while I wait for the installer to return from a trip and put me through.
Sorry to bother but I will appreciate it if you can share a link on how I can learn the CC figures and understand what numbers to look out for.
Happy sabbath smiley

I won't iron with any type of inverter.

Except I have a lot of batteries

You can use normal regular pressing iron if you have enough panel and inverter capacity.
If its after sunset then battery capacity will be a hindrance.

it should work if you can get a charger that fits the voltage and current range of the solar panel

Thanks man.

I've looked at the manual and the carton, these technical details are missing.

Will a laptop charger do just fine or are there special chargers?

How does one know that this is still functional or good?

I'm still assembling so I'm buying them one by one.

Edited.

Get a multimeter and measure the voltage of the solar panel at the input terminal, a picture of the terminal will also be ok

It's brand new not yet used so there is a very high chance it works when you add PV to it (which is how you know it's good)

I'm curious to know how you measured the pf.

We were able to run an 1.5 ton lg inverter ac, microwave, freezer and fridge totalling about 3000w simultaneously and inverter display was 92% load. At least its more than pf 0.8 for sure

That's impressive from Famicare, a brand I thought is one of the worst thing to happen to Nigeria grin

Didn't think they have it in them to make products that are awesome. Thanks for the heads up.

I am not sure that this is the way to measure pf or inverter efficiency especially when you mix inductive and reactive loads together.

Also doubtful the accuracy and precision of any sensors or meters in a budget inverter.

This is the sort of (mis)approximation that may guide someone to make a subpar decision with a great degree of confidence.

To do this assessment properly, one has to separate between the pf distortion created by the loads and the energy conversion efficiency and measurement accuracy of the inverter itself - these are just a few issues to consider and things can get very complicated from here.

If I could put it in simple terms, a horribly designed inductive load will run inefficiently on an average inverter just thesame as it would run inefficiently on a premium and very well designed inverter - one cannot credit the energy/power losses to the inverter in this case.

Greetings to all Gurus in the house.

I need solar inverter setup for my three bedroom, 2.5KVA should be fine for the things I wish to power.

Average cost of 2.5kva from all the online vendors have checked seems to be around 900k to 1m. Crux is am not sure of the quality of what I would get hence I might have to go through the DIY option. Get all the materials needed and pay an installer to fix all.

Gurus in the house, kindly help with items I would need for this setup and likely amount for installation.

Thank you.

The inverter was not used to measure the load, rather a fangpusun bmv 700. The 92% indicator was on the inverter display. Before said inveter{famucare 3.5kva} was bought I thought it would do max 2800w but for it to exceed 3000 watts without overload error is a win for me

900k to 1m looks insufficient except some of the components are the mid range brands (this isn't condemning them though), going DIY doesn't exactly guarantee that it'll be cheaper too.
You can DIY step by step here and I'm certain you'll most likely be guided by the capable hands here.

NB: lithium apostles should take it easy...lol
