Either he carry you to work or not he will still buy petrol, pay insurance, road tax etc. Way to appreciate him is once a while he fuel his car just to say thank you. Believe me the guy asking for money to help drop a colleague at work can’t think of asking for money doing that in Nigeria. Anyway na condition make crayfish bend grin

The uk does not encourage high earnings. 40% tax if you earn over 50k. So most people are in the 25k to 33k bracket. Why dem no go stingy. Fuel is not even cheap there yet you want free ride Stranger is also supposed to buy winter jacket for you. You must be mad. The factory manager guy too has seen how the Indians are doing it, he doesn’t really hate his fellow Nigerians per say he is just looking for the next promotion. To most factory workers it’s a temp job and you probably would have moved on in 6m to 1 year. For him to remain a manager he has to be seen as an action man

. Did a calculation of my Canada salary using uk rates. Was like 180 dols difference. So i can agree its similar. The 40% is for the portion of income over 50k gbp, the previous 49,990 is taxed 20%

Guy I go soon buy my car and I will carry people free. I don't know why u will charge people to the same direction u are going. That is a sign of greed. Imagine if nobody is going to that direction u go still drive that the same car empty to that place

The reason is that, they don’t really have much savings, they spend as they earn over there.
This UK stinginess didn’t start today, I started hearing it when I was small and since then I got discouraged about UK. All my relatives in UK are like that when compared with those living in US and Europe.
Op you will soon join them, the spirits of UK stinginess never hit you

You don't compare Nigerian system to the UK, people are free to charge for taking you to work everyday here, i used to pay an Asian work mate £20 a week for taking me to work 4days a week, we were about 3 he takes to work and we are happy to pay that.

I understand that it cost him money to maintain his car and i'm not expecting him to be dropping me everyday for free.

Charging me does not make him an evil person .

I understand too that’s how UK system is designed and nobody is saying is evil but what most of us are saying balls down on the cost of living make them behave that way, here in Nigeria when I got my first job after youths service a colleague of mine who live close to my house pick me up to work everyday without asking for anything for a year. I’m sure he can not do that in UK comfortably.

Not outrageous. Imagine your fellow Nigeria man charging you 20 pounds for just a day because bus does not goes to that route. Charging people is not bad but when u start charging outrageous money like uber or bolt driver then the person is gready

Am not even saying he should do things for me free but we Nigerian like to exploit people. When I told my white colleagues that the Nigerian guy usually charge us 10 pound just for a trip and 20 pounds for to and fro the white people where displeased saying the guy suppose collect 3 pounds from each of us instead of 20 pounds since he is going to the same route with us. Like I dey tell people I prefer to enter uber or bolt that I will pay 15 pounds to my house than to enter my fellow Nigeria car that I would pay 10 pounds because the uber guy is been tax for taking me home, he is paying the uber company for getting him client and also making profit to feed himself. So why should my fellow Nigeria guy charge me almost like uber money and charge me twice of bus?

My brother no talk am abeg. Driving in uk cannot be compared with naija. Insurance minimum is 2000 pounds, mot dey, fuel na 2 pounds per litre, maintenance dey. You sef no go happy to drive anybody.

My brother you're lying, I used to think like you until I started helping two Nigeria/Senegal guys after work. morning they wait for me along one supermarket where I pass to pick them up, after work they will jump inside my car like they're washing it for me. This are not my issues, my problems are when I discovered my car felt heavy and I burnt more expensive diesel more than when I used to drive alone. I discovered I visit petrol station often than before, I don't have mind to ask anybody anything cos am good on my own. secondly, they're seeing me as a big guy, hailing me Oga boss and sweet name's. But At the end of the month they Pocket their salaries and I buy diesel of 60€ each month, pay insurance about €1400 and Car Tax of €200 yearly respectively, every two years of revisions 70€ which is to check if it's roadworthy. Do it a year no be person go tell you.
