We don't need you guys to come and be telling us what we already know! You guys should act. Fix the roads. Nepotism and corruption is the hallmark of this administration!!!

Nicely said. But most Nigerian roads are built using substandard materials, that's why there can't stand the test of time.
Re: Most Nigerian Roads Are Expired – FERMA Boss by owobokiri(m): 7:57am On Nov 14, 2022
We need a new policy on road construction Amin Nigeria. The old one there if any, is moribund. Such policy must d modern and must take into consideration the peculiar Nigerian environment vis a vis the soil texture and weather changes.
It must encompass every farcet of the structural demands associated with road construction in the country. This should include a definite upgrade on the quality of roads , the size and depth of the roads, the projected lifespans, even the color and other important assets that characterize modern road construction elsewhere. Thick black roads in tropical weather like Nigeria should be a no no..

Most states and federal roads in Nigeria have become conduit pipes for greater looting. I have seen Lebanese construction companies collaborating with governors to over invoice and inflate road contracts. We have situations where contracts for the same roads have been awarded several times at inflated figures as contractors and corrupt politicians alike, bind together to game the system. This shouldn't be so. An Independent Quality Standard Board should be set and every road must have a very solid design based on well enunciated policies. This way, any goovernor or Local Government Chairmen who flagrantly awards contracts without proper studies and certifications, should be forced to foot the bill with his own resources.

beautyhd:
Nigeria itself has expired.

Most vehicles are expired and plying on expired roads driven by expired drivers with expired licenses in an expired administration.

Mr Ferma boss, what’s the solution to the expired roads?
Re: Most Nigerian Roads Are Expired – FERMA Boss by iezeiyida(m): 8:25am On Nov 14, 2022
Yes. Especially the Federal roads in South East, which Buhari's government intentionally ignored because of his hate and intolerance for Igbos but I blame Jonathan to a great extent for that.

Charity begins at home, but GEJ didn't seem to understand that when he was in power.

We need digital toll gate system

UK, US, UAE all have digital toll gates that pays private contractors to manage Federal roads

A normal human being shouldn't be pained by paying N300 naira to service every 50km of Federal roads he passes

Nigerian Infrastructural deficit won't be tackled if we keep thinking Niger Delta "Oyel" is the only means of financing infrastructure

There was a time I studied in the UK. One day, I got into a car with some friends, (church things), and we went on the expressway. I noticed all the painted lines, with very thick paint. And I asked them, how come their own paint is still on their road? Our own Nigerian paint don clean comot tey-tey. They just replied that road lines are there, because it's regularly painted there.
Though this image is google maps, it is exactly as I saw it back then.

True that! I'd rather pay N500 toll to drive on a smooth, well marked, privately managed Lagos Ibadan expressway than drive on a pot hole riddled version managed by the FG. Whether it should be or not is another matter, but reality is that in Nigeria, what belongs to government belongs to nobody. The minute the road is completed, no body in the Ministry looks at it again until it falls apart and its time to award another contract.

Its also because in Nigeria in most cases we use normal paint. Whereas abroad they use thermo plastic paint that it hard and stays on the road for much longer. Its only JB and a few other bigger road construction companies that use the proper thing.

However, when it eventually fades off, they renew regularly. Also they drive in the lanes a lot more over there, so the tyres don't rub against it as much, compared to here where we drive anyhow. Our weather is harsher as well.

And they continue to collect road worthiness from car owners & drivers every year on top of expired unworthy roads.

It's time we start building roads using concrete pavings in Nigeria so that we don't have to rebuild our roads again for a long time.
