Nigeria is a sovereign country and our Laws are made by us here!
As far as Nigeria is concerned, spousal rape does not exist and is NOT a CRIME!!
It can be a crime in other countries, but not in NIGERIA, and I'm a Nigerian Lawyer called to the Nigerian Bar, so I'm guided by the provisions of the Laws in Nigeria.

Having cleared that, I'm sure you know there's another law in Nigeria today called the VAPP Act, which is actually gender based. If this woman's lawyer brings the VAPP Act into the case she'll walk free or get a light sentence. One of the things that Act targets is spousal rape because it's happening.

What if the man is a drug addict and always violent on the woman, because I don't understand how you reconcile with someone after months of separation and want to still force yourself on the person the same day.
