In October 1973, Egypt and Syria launched a surprise attack on Israel over its occupation of the Golan Heights and Sinai Peninsula, two Arab territories. With the now-defunct Soviet Union (read Russia) backing Egypt and Syria, the US automatically queued behind Israel.https://www.thecable.ng/now-that-the-north-has-found-oil/amp

Oil money is good but becoming worthless with the depreciating global oil prices and greenhouse effects of fossils fuel hence the increasing diversion from these ones to better efficient and renewable energy sources. From all ramifications, the discovery of the "black gold" have indeed been a curse to a country like Nigeria. After about 62 years of forced nationhood as a result of crude oil, all the enduring legacies are products of colonialism by the western imperialists. In fact Nigeria needs to be recolonised again. |

Racoon:Let them recolonise your father's house. Leave Nigeria out of your madness. Stupid slave. Nigerian leaders not doing well enough? Okay so let's hand the country back to foreigners whose VERY REASON FOR COLONISATION is to LOOT our resources. That is the fundamental motive for all colonisation throughout history. To LOOT the resources of the colonised territory, to enrich the coloniser's country. That is what you are calling for as a solution to our problems? I mean, the way some of you reason is just baffling. |

Stop being misled by hypes NNPC had always declared that oil had always been in the north, just not in commercially viable quantities. Nigerians and over-senstionalism. This over-sensationalism began with fraudulent NNPC, FG and then the chief culprit Buhari himself. Allow me demystify the labyrinth and open you guy's understanding. Yes, oil discovery in the north is fantastic. But, then, a refinery is been developed to refine and process the crude ol at a refining capacity of 120,000 Barrels per day. Now, note, the entire crude oil in the " basin " or should i say territory is One Billion Barrels. Let's do some maths to find out why NNPC/Buhari and the so called elites masquarading a little thing as though a big deal are nothing but sun-scorched urchins. When you develop One billion ( The entire crude in the reserve basin ) by the quantity of refining capacity of the refinery per day, we have One Billion/120,000 per day. This figure leaves us with 8,334 Days Converted to years, this leaves us with a figure of approximately 23 years I mean is Buhari and NNPC mad to make so much fanfare over nothing ? angry I'm disgusted that our so-called southern elites never saw this lie. Anyways, thank God for me sha. We truth sayers see everything Oil discovery in the north is good no doubt, but the fanfare is undeserving please To prove the clumsyness of the project. Educate yourself on the exploration costs, cost of setting up the refinery and all the expenses on it and maintenance for the 23 years, you'd realize you were all scammed because you lots ached for lies. This is glorious unprofitablity and colossal misinformation. Cc : Racoon SarkinYarki |

Excellent article. Well penned. I foresee massive investments of the proceeds in infrastructure, agriculture and education. The integrated blueprint (refinery, fertilizer, gas & power plant) is a masterstroke. |

Which oyel the north found? Buhari doesn't want criticism over the trillions of dollars spent on searching for a sham oyel.Is he not the one telling Nigerians to diversify into agriculture? What has he spent in purchasing tractors for agricultural use? Nothing |

What oil wealth did to us was to make the government awash with petrodollars while Nigeria and Nigerians were not better off commensurately. Government became the biggest centre of patronage. To be in government was an invitation to become rich with minimal work. Government started creating more ministries, departments and agencies where access to cash is unlimited and the levers of accountability are terribly low. Getting government appointments became more profitable than running businesses. Government contracts could give as much as 500 percent returns. That is what oil windfalls can do to a society without visionary and accountable leadership. |

Even the oil in the southern region was not utilized for the regions benefit . So you think the north will do anything meaningful with oil in its region .. please sleep and wake up again .. until we separate nothing good will happen |

Quintopia:What is different today whether what the white imperialists or the stupid irresponsible leaders Nigeria have today are doing something new or different. The useless leadership of this nation goes to London and other cosy hospital to seek healthcare to the detriment of the nation. Buhari plane was senseless parked @ Stansted Airport London wherein it accumulated staggering debt burden on Nigeria. Nigeria goes cap-in-hand to IMF, and other financial bodies to beg for loans or borrowings that have crumbled this nation. Meanwhile, the debt servicing charged by these borrowers is choking. Keep up with your delusional beliefs. |

God bless Nigeria. As an Engineer, empirical statistics of the data available shows that the oil discovered in this basin will only last for a period of 24 years max, at 100,00 bpd production capacity. Now my question is this; The resources and infrastructure being put in place, in the long run, will the profit obtained cover the cost of production if the wells dry up? |
