Tafawa balewa,Nnamdi,Awolowo and that former and longest Minister of Finance during their era are the core problems of present Nigeria. They left a bad legacy and we are reaping the fruit

The Northern states concern will show their Southern counterparts how to judiciously use the oil derivative money accrue to her.

Exactly bro.
Just as they have judiciously used all their time in government and in top positions in the country to better the lives of Northerners, pulled them out of poverty and developed the North above other regions.

Great insight, I hope they take a cue from our mistakes in the south to do a better job when production starts. Nigeria will succeed!

We can be sure that the selfish
parasitic north will keep the proceeds
of the Northern oil to themselves while
they continue to be parasitic and keep
taking the lion's share of the oil from
the Niger Delta.

I have always wondered why the
South South allows Northerners to have
control of the oil in their region while
not allowing any Southerner have
any control of whatever may be more
in the north, like gold, agriculture, FCT.

What is different today whether what the white imperialists or the stupid irresponsible leaders Nigeria have today are doing something new or different.

The useless leadership of this nation goes to London and other cosy hospital to seek healthcare to the detriment of the nation. Buhari plane was senseless parked @ Stansted Airport London wherein it accumulated staggering debt burden on Nigeria.

Nigeria goes cap-in-hand to IMF, and other financial bodies to beg for loans or borrowings that have crumbled this nation. Meanwhile, the debt servicing charged by these borrowers is choking. Keep up with your delusional beliefs.
It's better we join england than be recolonised by them.

I am coming to add something.

If you want to expose the scam. Ask government to allow state's to retain 80% of their income from petrol while 20% is paid to FG account to be share to states without oil exempting state's with oil from sharing in it. This means saying to oil producing state's," take 80% of the revenue from the oil you claim to have and send 20% to FG and you will have no share from the 20%."

You will see all these states lying to have oil confess their sins as no money from oil will accrue to them.

now that the north has found oil? I'm not trying to be a pessimist but there would be increment of food price, why? lands in that region wouldn't be fertile anymore, with the new found wealth, most Northerners wouldn't even bother farming anymore....all regions always complemented each other and now APC has altered that balance

Leave Nigeria out of your madness.

Stupid slave.

Nigerian leaders not doing well enough? Okay so let's hand the country back to foreigners whose VERY REASON FOR COLONISATION is to LOOT our resources.

That is the fundamental motive for all colonisation throughout history. To LOOT the resources of the colonised territory, to enrich the coloniser's country.

That is what you are calling for as a solution to our problems?

I mean, the way some of you reason is just baffling.

And tomorrow you’ll be praying for visa to go abroad?! Lol.

Black people aren’t fit to rule. Maybe the next generation but not these set of hungry greedy men. If you like break your head on the wall, it doesn’t change the fact that you walk beside open gutters and the most progressive state in your country has a huge landfill site at the entrance of the state. Like wtf! Who heaps trash at the entrance of their state and within heavily populated residential areas?

Let me tell you who; Africans. Lol.

Food prices will never increase.. cows grazing also causes the land to not be fertile.

The food the north eats is different from what other regions eat..

Food prices will only increase in the north.

I find the framing of the headline problematic. And this is the way we continue to stake narratives that further divide us.

The headline should read:

Now that WE have found oil in the North

Dear Op, what a brilliant piece! Its lengthy structure notwithstanding, I read it to the last word. Kudos!

The "devil's excreta" has proven over the years to be more of a curse than a blessing to the ordinary man on the street.

Only the privileged few and gangsters actually feed fat from that sector!

Therein lies our bane!

The talakawas up North would still end up as drawers of water and hewers of wood.

This will go down as the biggest scam in the history of this country because there is no oil anywhere in the north. What Buhari did was to connect pipe via underground from Niger delta to Kolmani field in the Upper Benue Trough of the Gongola Basin.

Oil in the North is a scam
Buhari is pulling that scam to deceive northern urchins into believing he brought something tangible to the North for supporting him for eight years
He pulled such scam with Baro port towards the 2019 election.
Today, Baro port is only working on paper
I pity notherners. Buhari scammed them big time.
Re: Now That The North Has Found Oil By Simon Kolawole by Bobbiee: 11:09am On Nov 28, 2022
When Nigeria struck oil back in the 70s, they did develop some infrastructure, like the automobile manufacturing plants, several refineries, and even the cocoa house in Ibadan. And the Ajaokuta steel. All are now dead. Why?
Bad management. And the fact that even though we build cars for instance, we still make importing cars more lucrative by not putting high tax on imported cars, which result in them being more cheaper than locally made vehicles.
People would always choose the cheapers alternative especially if it overperforms the locally manufactured product.

If you make oil refineries and still make importing oil the cheaper alternative, those refineries would fall moribund within a few years.

Can youh elaborate in this "The detail that has been lost in the conspiracy theories, though, is that it will still take years for oil production to start in Kolmani, so the issue of derivation payment does not arise yet."

Why will it take long for production to start if Oil has been found?
QuotaSystem:
Excellent article. Well penned.

I foresee massive investments of the proceeds in infrastructure, agriculture and education.

The integrated blueprint (refinery, fertilizer, gas & power plant) is a masterstroke.

Something must be wrong with some of you!

Simon wrote this piece as if the Oil that is found in the North belongs to the North.

Even the title of the message is whack.

"Now that the North has found oil."

Not now that Nigeria has found oil in its Northern part.

So the Oil that has been carrying Nigeria for 50yrs that was found in the South is Nigerian oil but now that it's time to tap that found in the North it has become Northern oil.

It's a pity that the Yoruba Nation has developed a slave mentality to the North.

That mentality appears to have always been there but Tinubu boosted it out of proportion.

So Simon acknowledges that the South is a second class citizen in this political arrangement
