Government should recruit teachers and stop relying on Corp Members. Perhaps Corp Members should be enlisted in the Army and Police to fight insecurity too?!

What is wrong is wrong. We can't get it right if we keep defending malpractices. If we wanna be truthful with ourselves, you and I know its wrong, so what are we trying to justify here?

If it's happening in other states too, it's wrong!
Yes, the government should recruit teachers...Qualified teachers..

But since they cannot recruit, an issue that predates even before 1999, what do you expect them to do?

Post corpers to teach?
Or let the classrooms be empty since they cannot recruit that much?

What exactly is your point, my brother?

Is it that you don't want corpers to teach?

Or is it that the 62.5% in Anambra sounds like a lie or propaganda?

Because I am starting to think that i dont understand you
grin

I've made my point clear bro, that's percentage is too high in my opinion.

..... and you and I believe its not affecting the basic Education system in Nigeria one way or the other?

You always call out Government for wrongdoings but seems this one is an exceptional case I guess?

NYSC Anambra State Coordinator, Mrs. Blessed Ekene Iruma has said corps members constitute 62.5% of teaching staff across schools in the state.

I can't seriously doubt it sha .
St Jude at Eziora Ozubulu had 6 corpers last year. Same as Seat of Wisdom at Egbema Ozubulu . I don't really know about other schools in the area like Okongwu memorial ( although I think it should be sizeable)

BTW, what agenda are you trying to push here because I "think" it is the same everywhere especially the North

Okay, let them not post corpers to schools again. Let us wait till when they recruit the qualified teachers.

This option is okay baa?

In my opinion, you have a point, but you are fighting a solution, instead of a problem.

The government cannot recruit the required number of teachers, so they ask corpers to fill that gap. How is this an abomination?

This is not an Agenda, I do not have time for lengthy discourse on this one. Let's make it brief please.

This current presidential aspirant promised to put an end to all strikes and create students loan, mind you I'm not even talking of Buhari oo, I'm talking of Tinubu. He's the one who made those promises and people listened to him.
Were those promises fulfilled?

The government found a way to reduce the gap in the teaching force, by telling corpers to go there. It may not be the best option, but it has some form of effectiveness. It is absolutely better than nothing.

A corper has a tertiary form of education, so it is assumed that he can handle the primary and secondary. Yes he may not be qualified, but the necessary knowledge can be transferred. The government didn't train you in the uni, but they can use your service in one year for some stipends.

You can't compare it with insecurity. Nobody was trained to kill in the uni or poly. So the government would have to spend resources training a corper to handle armour (and he will leave in one year oh). Isn't it better to use that same resource to training someone for life?

In some Countries like South Korea, its mandatory for every able young men and ladies above 18yrs [I guess] to undergo military training.

Is it gonna be bad to replicate same policy in Nigeria?

For you to train anybody, you need funds

Funds to procure equipments
Funds to establish facilties
Funds to hire the appropriate personnel
Funds, Funds, Funds....

Where will Nigeria get it?

That is why i said both BAT, Obi and Atiku have no HOW to solve anything. They are just telling you what you want to hear.

The CBN just said the excess crude oil savings that was 3 billion in 2014, is ABSOLUTE ZERO today. But no, our saviour is coming in 2023.

I was happy when they asked Kwankwaso how he would employ 1 million personnel into the military. He said he will make WAEC free.

SK have the funds to train anybody. Nigeria does not.

You're 100% right with the highlighted part. I've said it here many times, we are simply gambling and hoping we pick the right choice.

Let's put aside the Candidates and dissect our major Problems in Nigeria, cause, effect and solution. Who knows maybe they do view this thread for Information.

We can help by contributing positively on this Board too.

It is on this board i heard that debates don't matter.

But i think everybody here is educated enough to know when someone is trying to give you Lamba. The woman selling pepper may be swayed by promises, but i expect educated people to see through the bullshiiit

Nigeria is broke. Yet everybody's manifesto os talking about how they will create this and that, increase this and that, etc.

BAT said he will add 50,000 to the army. How will you pay them, equip them and fund them? Just multiply the basic salary for a soldier by 50,000 and 12 months. This is excluding allowances, and other resources and weapons needed.

The others have their own promises that when you look atvit critically, it isnt feasible. But then, i am not God.

Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Donjazet2: 12:26pm On Nov 28, 2022
Seems a very good time to remind people of the difference between candidatures. What they represent and why not voting should never be a choice.
Donjazet2:
Choosing a candidate to support to lead you should not be based on just one factor. There are different metrics, indices and factors a candidate should meet up to before being viable for office. Competence (ability to lead), character (relative personal moral standing and behaviour), Physical and health status, impact (legacy, effect and symbolism of candidate's victory).

I will try to very briefly explain those points and in relation to both candidates.

No 1, Impact, what is the legacy, the effect and the symbolism of Obi's candidacy? Let me start with an example, Obama winning in 2008 broke so many racial barriers in American democracy. His candidacy and presidency was highly symbolic in the sense that it healed the scars of America's dark racial past and opened doors that were previously shut to black people in America. How does this relate to Obi. As I've said severally before, an Obi win will be Earth shattering, the effects and implications of Obi winning the presidency next year would send waves across the country and continent. A whole lot of Nigerias will then understand the power they have when they unite against bad leadership and representation. Nigerians just picking a tiny party and making it the ruling party. Politicians become accountable as a result of this. Our democracy and governance improves instantly. It's impact is felt instantly.
As for the symbolism and legacy of Obi's supposed win, just like Obama, Obi winning next year's election shows that the nation has healed from the tribal divisions and deep animosity from the past. An Obi presidency symbolises that igbos are no longer looked at suspiciously or marginalized but are embraced as brother's of the nation too.

Now for Tinubu, voting Tinubu simply signals business as usual. A kakistocracy and a plutocracy. It signals a continuation of the present ruling class, this government and its components which will inevitably lead to the same results. Tinubu's candidacy doesn't bear the same symbolism which an Obi candidacy does.

Now number 2. Physical and health status: I don't need to talk too much here. You already know which candidate is younger, healthier, more energetic and capable of bearing the huge physical responsibilities of leading 200 million people. A presidents job entails Constantly travelling, Constantly attending meetings, Inspecting projects and developments across the entire country. Attending emergencies. Alacrity and sharp mental acuity. Need I go on? Between both candidates, who will handle this best? Tell yourself the truth. An 86 year old or a 61 year old.

Number 3, character. I'm sure I also don't need to talk much here. Even you cannot say Tinubu has a better moral standing and better character than Obi. One has never been a defendant in court. That is, he's never had to defend himself for any negative case whatsoever in any court while the other is an international criminal with criminal cases and indictments both home and abroad. Don't forget that Tinubu has faced corruption and embezzlement charges in Nigeria to add to his drug related and money laundering cases abroad. Small detail to note, Tinubu's physical appearance indicates a person who was or is a habitual user of drugs to which his current ailment is also an indicator to.

Competence; this is where I score both fair. This is Tinubu's only selling point. Honestly I do not know much about Tinubus governance seeing as many of us were too young when he was governor and have to rely on his owned media channels to toot his own horns. But what I don't think anyone would say is that he was a failure. But this is exactly the same with Obi. Aside politics, no one would say he was a failure. So it's very fair to say both have competence based on pedigree.

Soo now, I revert back to an earlier statement, you cannot use only one metric to support a candidate. Yes, Tinubu is competent but is he healthy enough, Is he in the right party, surrounded by the right people? What are the effects of a Tinubu presidency. He has failed the character test. He came out to tell us his entitlement to the office. He believes its his right and that is a failure of character and dignity.

As I've stated above with all my reasons
Obi side by side with Tinubu is just non debatable. Why?? Go up and read my points again. When you've done that, there's no doubt left that your purpose for strongly advocating for your candidate is based on primordial sentiment which is tribalism

I need have enough data on the state of our finances for me to make any personal submission. I was hoping to hear it from the candidates, but only Obi tries to give numbers.

That's why I can never rate Buhari. The guy took the easy way out

Take loans and build infrastructures. Some of these projects cannot pay for themselves. Rather, they become liabilities that need more loans to service them. You just shared a document on using 100 billion loan to build roads at 15.6% interest. How will that loan ever be repaid in this life?

I have once asked if we generate anything in this country. Our debt was 70 billion at Dec 2021, and as at June 2022, it was 151 billion. ECA account is now Zero. What masterclass did Buhari actually apply for 8 years?

I expect the next president to take this route too. Use loans to build roads, and everything. Then campaign with it for 8 years.
