The ending isn't even what's fücking my brain. It's the conception of Jane.
For Jane to be conceived, she has to become John who then goes back in time to impregnate her. And without the sex change resulting from the labour, Jane doesn't become John. But if she doesn't become John, Jane is also never conceived. So how was Jane conceived initially and how does she go on to become John and conceive herself in the very first cycle?
This is the chicken and egg situation that's been stressing my brain.

Good question though, nonetheless don't get it twisted.
There's nothing like first, second or more cycle of events. There's only a single cycle/version of timeline/event but there's possibility of different or multiple versions of a person/time traveller with multiple perceptions of a single event, thereby giving illusion of different cycles.

Jane was born and taken back to the past (1945) by an older and future version of herself after making out and being conceived by different older but past versions of herself.

Imagine if you had excess food two weeks ago and even threw away the left over. Now imagine at the moment you're a little short of cash and feeling hungry, you could go back in time to meet your past self two weeks ago and eat that food you threw away.
If that were possible, it means, outcome of event last two weeks would have been different. No left over was disposed because a future version of yourself came from today and ate it.

The past, present, future versions of a single person creating an event on a particular timeline.
And past, present, future all happening simultaneously.
Then each version of the person experiencing the event differently.
