Ukraine can only defend. Any attack directly on Russian soil is a room for a full war that will wipe Ukraine totally.

All the western countries do is supply Ukraine with defence weapons because they know the consequences of direct confrontation with Russia .

If they do, Russia has the right to respond with nuclear weapons. Their territories are under their nuclear umbrella, an attack on Russian soil could prompt it to use the weapons of mass destruction if it wishes to

Because it'd escalate the war and make Russia use tactical nukes which might be the end of this world as we know it as USA would likely retaliate with strikes of their own and nobody can win a nuclear war

Ukraine is fighting a defensive war and those gifting them weapon do so on the condition it only gets used in Ukraine

America is smarter than that, they would respond with sanctions only, they would only retaliate with a nuclear strike if it is targeted against them. They promised zelensky they would help with troops on the ground but when the special military operation began, they withdrew their statement and said "when Russia and America starts shooting at each other then the world is at war"

If Ukraine attacks Russia and tries to sustain it, Russia will go into full mode of war where even the leaders in Ukraine and other NATO states will become targets, hence World War III.

Neither the US nor NATO wants any direct involvement but are just using Ukraine to have a proxy war with Russia to weaken it financially. This is why US and NATO only provide short range missiles to Ukraine to prevent escalation.

Ukraine is the biggest loser though, with the EU closely following behind it.

Trump was talking about 'dismantling NATO' which suited Russia's interests fine, and made many countries pause their applications. Once Biden was in power, NATO was once again backed by the US, which made Ukraine want to join, which got Russia tetchy.

So in a way, the trumpistas are right, though not in the way they think.
