OPOBO Sesquicentenary:

Below is the end of year event scheduled for 2022 year end and new year.

All are invited.
Opobo remains the first city state in Nigeria and was so strategic .

Lord Luggard lived in Opobo territory and the collapse of Opobo ushered in the dreadful colonisation of Nigeria by the British which ofcos was fiercely resisted by Kingdom Opobo.
Her king, The king Jaja the 1st was taken into exile and as a result of the resistance.

If not, we wouldn't have had a country like Nigeria, we would have gotten a monarchial kind of government or a parliamentary system of government as seen in the UK today.

Come and learn history.
Opobo on its own is a museum.
U can't afford to pass through the country without knowing or visiting where the country started.


Opobo remains the political pilgrimage of Nigeria.
Calabar was chosen to be the first capital of Nigeria because it has a large flat land unlike Opobo that is an island and also small in size else, Opobo would have readily become the first capital of Nigeria aside Bonny.
The first British consulate building is located in Bonny and later Opobo after the great exodus.
