in 1977 Bob Marley was diagnosed with a type of Malignant Melanoma under a toenail. He rejected his doctor's advice to have his toe amputated, citing his religious beliefs.

He died four years later, at the age of 36, due to the spread of Melanoma to his lungs and brain.
