Not entirely true. My mum sells yams in large quantity (This Alajapa people) she doesn't know shit about electronic transactions. The least you can purchase from her as at then was 50k. Thank God we successfully stopped her few months ago from doing the business. I wonder how she will cope with this new rule. Some of these local people that are into food business or farming don't know anything like transfer oooo and they have money en Ventura1: 2 Likes |

lrman: You should be able to pay with your card if the business owners have POS machines.. Inshort with this new policy..every average retailer will order for one to make transactions easier. The rural areas will be the worst hit along with POS operators..but trust Nigerians a few months after everyone will adjust |

linearity: Nice one. I totally agree with you. Looking at the bigger picture, the kidnapping business demanding for #100m as if they are asking for a thousand naira, will be checkmated. Corruption will be reduced and money in circulation can be well monitored. Carrying about wads of cash will be minimal. Infact, this is laudable but normally it will have its teething problems at the beginning. 3 Likes |

Akwamkpuruamu: I totally agree . Some of these policies are draconian . Banks will be making a killing , staff of banks will reduce terribly, pos companies will take a hit. Banks will be the ones smiling because they are suddenly having more funds to do whatever nefarious activities they are usually up to and will have an increased customer base . Construction companies where labourers that MUST collect their money in cash will suffer because their fees will rise . they will include POS charges and inconveniences . People that earn max 3,000 in a day and they can be up to 40 people on site . |

Paxxcarl:They rather entered into business fully....as dey're the only one to give beyond wot CBN stipulates. Infact, dey will even increase charges sef. Most POS outlets are owned by bankers. They will make d cash available for dia agents. Even d people selling mint, where u think dey get dem from, ATM? ....nope! Also, people will reduce d money they pay into their bank accounts since retrieving dem is becoming difficult. Dey would opt to keep cash at home thereby reducing bank patronage. ...don't u think so? 2 Likes |

I pity reconciliation officers. Them go dey sleep for bank. Remind me again of how many months it takes to settle "I was debited", " but, you weren't credited". NIBSS, Interswitch etc can not even handle the current traffic. Another way to plummet Nigerians into another round of suffering. A cashless policy is nice but the Nigerian banking system and the present society have not fully evolved to fit into that decision. 5 Likes |

I don't know why but I think this is a very good policy thats if it is enforced and strictly followed with no backdoor. It will check corruption because transactions will be properly monitored and also raise nairas value. The inflation we are presently experiencing is out of this world. And also with the planned removal of subsidy, we will not be able to cope because the prices of everything will skyrocket but if this policy is ensured then we ll only look for alternatives to goods and services or simply don't patronise instead of the usual I don't av a choice and buy things. If only the policy has no backdoor...... |

am laughing going through the comments on this thread. Let me help you guys with the solution, it's very simple. Open many bank accounts like five account in different banks. You withdraw 20k from 5 different account is already 100k in day. And you can open more than five accounts. Do this and thank me later. 1 Like |

This policy wont affect the big men,not even the politician because they can just contact bank manager and get any amount they need. Na d masses go suffer am Even POS operator will be forced to increase withdrawal fee,cos Dem going to the bank to withdraw more than 100k will attract 10% fee. So won't they make increase on the charges as well? The truth is u can't compare US to Nigeria Bleep it this are two different countries one is technology advanced while the other is not. Before US adopted cashless policy they did what we call a thorough check on how it is going to affect businesses, they put all the necessary things in place before coming up with such decision meetings were setup, citizens were all carried along as well In Nigeria dey just do anyhow no info on anything 1 Like |

Moh247: POS can register their accounts as business accounts, and that puts the limit at 400k weekly. I don't think most of the POS units around make such high volume transaction per week, so they will mostly be fine. |
