Watched episode 9 of Chainsaw Man yesterday.
Has anyone else seen MakimAlluka in action? I almost started feeling sorry for the bad guys.

More importantly though, has anyone else seen GOATbeni in action?

Anime-onlies what are your thoughts on Chainsaw Man so far? Did it live up to the hype? Who is best girl? Best boy? Best doggo?

For the manga readers, how do you feel about the approach that Mappa has taken in the adaptation?
Do you enjoy the more cinematic "live action" approach? Or would you have preferred something more like manga complete with art style changes during funny scenes?
How do you feel about the Muscle Devil fight that got cut from early on in the adaptation?

General question, do you think the CGI has been done right so far? Has it enhanced or detracted from the series?

It's a pretty decent show so far. I generally haven't been moved by hype for quite some time now, so the fact that I'm actually interested in its world and characters speaks for the show in of itself.

Who is best girl?
Power

Best boy?
Aki, obviously.

Best doggo?
The One and Only. Needs no mention.

General question, do you think the CGI has been done right so far? Has it enhanced or detracted from the series?
Aside from the shoddy parts in the first episode, the CGI has been on point so far. The animation is so fluidly done you rarely notice the CG and the modelling looks great overall, both background and central. Can't really say if it's an enhancement as I'm not really familiar with the source material.

as a manga reader...
I love the cinematic approach of MAPPA...
I believe it's true to the mangaka Fugimoto and his love for cinema...

The muscle devil fight was honestly forgettable...I totally forgot it until people mentioned it...and I went back to reread it.
It could have been added but might have messed with the pacing of episode 2...so I understand why it was cut...
I would have loved to see it tho for it's weirdness

The CGI so far is great ...only those shots in episode 1 that I didn't like...
Unfortunately anime fans nowadays freeze every frame and analyse every frame from any anime just to find something to criticize in it's animation

Btw, The focus of season 1 so far has been building up the characters...season 2 is where the chaos begins

Final note: I already can't wait for season 2...
I'm hyped for the final 3 episodes of season 1 but nowhere near as hyped as season 2...or 3 or a movie for the final arc...

Golden Kamuy S4 will restart its run in Spring 2023 season after having gone on hiatus due to the death of a prominent member of the production team.
Condolences on their loss and much appreciation to the production team for still continuing with the show as soon as they could.

Beats me. I've been trying to post a manga review. I'm afraid to try again.

It moves wild sometimes and it seems to be currently wildling in the TV/Movies section. I've seen multiple bans on the Movie and Series threads.
I understand that fear. Ever since I got banned for posting my usual weekend watch list, I now post that with my alt.

My alt got banned for trying to post a manga review. There are no links at all in the write-up. Too bad.

In all honesty, everytime I saw an Oshi no Ko visual, all I appreciated was the quality of the art. I assumed it would be some idol show and I didn't really think I'd have the time for one, that wasn't Zombieland Saga, next year. Then I stumbled on the information that it was written by Aka Akasaka of Kaguya-sama: Love is War fame and my attention was instantly grabbed.
I don't really need to explain to any sincere Kaguya enjoyer but, for any who may not know, Akasaka wrote up a slew of interesting and entertaining characters in Love is War with some of the most hilarious character interactions while also handling the mood switches to the more emotional moments of the story expertly. Man has some mad talent in character writing and that has me excited to see what he's done in Oshi no Ko.

Synopsis from MAL
Sixteen-year-old Ai Hoshino is a talented and beautiful idol who is adored by her fans. She is the personification of a pure, young maiden. But all that glitters is not gold.

Gorou Amemiya is a countryside gynecologist and a big fan of Ai. So when the pregnant idol shows up at his hospital, he is beyond bewildered. Gorou promises her a safe delivery. Little does he know, an encounter with a mysterious figure would result in his untimely death—or so he thought.

Opening his eyes in the lap of his beloved idol, Gorou finds that he has been reborn as Aquamarine Hoshino—Ai's newborn son! With his world turned upside down, Gorou soon learns that the world of showbiz is paved with thorns, where talent does not always beget success. Will he manage to protect Ai's smile that he loves so much with the help of an eccentric and unexpected ally?

I'm not even going to front like the synopsis itself gripped me. I'm just really interested in seeing what Akasaka does with this premise.

I was privileged to read to the first couple of volumes during the pandemic. It's nothing like Love Is War. The story is actually pretty heavy and isn't afraid to delve into serious topics. It also usually off as critical of Japan's idol culture.

I was able to track this down!!!

CoolUsername:
So this isn't a review or anything but I recently just finished binge-reading Oshi no Ko. It's written by Aka Akasaka (of Kaguya: Love is War) and drawn by Mango Yokoyara (Scum's Wish).

It basically follows the drama that goes on the background of the Japanese celebrity and idol scene. Now, I've always been aware of the toxicity of Japanese fandoms to some extent but for those who aren't, this is a good place to start.

I won't go into much detail but this is some good stuff. If you haven't read it and are looking for something to read, consider checking this one out.

Glad to hear this. Asian idol culture could really use some constant local criticism.
