I don’t think the religion is the problem , it’s the mentality of those who still want to practise it like the old time when there’s no organized government , law courts where cases can be tried on its merit and no such thing as fundamental human rights .

That’s what explains why those in the south appears to be more liberal in their approach while those in the north take a different approach to things .

While I was in school I know a lot of Muslim and Christian leaders who were committed to ensuring cultism was reduced to the barest minimum and some even offered refuge to ex-cultist who were committed to renouncing their various cult groups. This whole apostasy thing makes the Muslim amir and the congregation’s actions hypocrisy . This is because u are not only helping someone rid himself of his cult group that forbids leaving , but u are also indoctrinating them into ur own group that also forbids them from leaving or face the wrath of the sharia law system .

As an aside, Christianity has always been spread by demonising other belief systems. Our God is a kind loving God vs your harsh and cruel God.
