Well, I don't know much about the Quran and what it says on issues like that sha..... But from the much I've read here today , it appears some of the things some adherents take to.heart are actually not commanded by the Quran like the case of blasphemy that was discussed earlier today.
Real Muslims follow both Qur'an and Muhammad's hadith or Sunnah (Muhammad's recorded deeds). Qur'an is silent on some issues like apostasy, but the haadith are very clear on them, with the punishment of death stated explicitly.

Sharia laws are developed from both Qur'an and Sunnah, not only Qur'an. And if you follow only Qur'an without following the Sunnah, you're not a real Muslim but a munafiq (a hypocrite) as stated in Qur'an, and Qur'an says such will enter hell-fire.

Anyone that reads Qur'an in English doesn't really understand Islam. If you understand Arabic, you understand the violent ways of the average northerner against so-called unbelievers is exactly what Qur'an preaches and commands.

For instance, Qur'an forbids Muslims to have friends from other faiths and fundamentalists don't make friends with Christians and the likes.

Qur'an regards unbelievers (Christians, freethinkers, Buddhists and co) as people like mere animals and criminals who are sub-human meant to roast in hell-fire and Muslims as the best of the humans.

But Muslims like to deceive others that people (some misguided Muslims) are the problem because those ones (the others and even many Yoruba Muslims) don't really understand Qur'an and Sunnah because they don't understand Arabic.

A lot of meaning is lost in translation to Arabic. And you don't interpret or try to understand the Qur'an without considering the circumstances where each of the verses was revealed to the Prophet.

That's why those that really understand Qur'an knows the Sunnah in and out.

And that's why ex-Muslims that understand Arabic and know these things vehemently criticize the religion on leaving the faith.

Personally, if my child wants to be religious, I'd prefer he stays clear of the toxic religion called Islam.

Christianity is still a bit better because it had been reformed. But then, I can't force even my kids to become an agnostic or follow a particular religion.

It's their choice but I'll educate them on the history of the popular religions and let them make their choice.

Islam is in need of serious reforms and the Qur'an is too archaic and harsh for the modern times, but who will reform a religion that considers Qur'an, the words of God (Allah), immutable?

After all has been said, religion, the poor man's opium, is one of the biggest problems of the society.
NOTE: Religion and spirituality are 2 different things.

Couldn't agree more bro. Religion has no use in modern day.

Nothing good can come from religion. any benefit we think we are getting from religion is due to our assuming religion is responsible; if we dig deeper we'd realise there are other sources but we're simply too lazy or too fond of religion to find them.

Religion just gives us one more reason to hate each other, as though the reasons we have already aren't enough......

Flash is fast too but he's by no means the leader of the Justice League or its top 3 most important member.

Messi is Superman.

Take to a court so that he can be tried sir.

You seem to have forgotten that courts also acquit people.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Amoto never said Deborah committed Blasphemy.

He also said he supports the death penalty for anyone convicted of Blasphemy through the court system.

So what's the problem exactly?

That's why I asked you if you support the death penalty for any reason - because if you do, then you really have no point.
Stop playing the emotional card here.

The point is if blasphemy is worthy of death penalty. It doesn't matter how or where the conviction comes from.

Is blasphemy worthy of death penalty?

Nope. Religion is good for the society. Just imagine a society without religion. People will just be living their lives anyhow. Please, not everyone can think reasonably and rationally, religion will close that out.

Some people don't believe what you said makes sense at all.

So where do we go from here?

Do we continue to debate each other's opinions?

Or do we subject ourselves to the laws of the land, which if I may remind you, Amoto did do...
