Are You A Christian If You Are Not Born Again? by FreedomfromtheT(op):
When Nicodemus met Christ secretly, Christ told him emphatically that except he or any other person is born again, such a one cannot get into the Kingdom of God. Apparently, the aim of an average religionist is to get to God's kingdom, Paradise , heaven or whatever nomenclature one may choose to call the Beautiful Place, at the end of this life.
The question is, what does it mean to be born again? From what I read from the Scriptures and my own personal experience, I got born again the day I experienced a change of moral life. It was dramatic. I heard a powerful message from a young man in the same school were we both taught then. That was on the 12th of November, 1999. The young teacher was asked to give a moral talk to the students as a lot of them were misbehaving, disrespectful and into sexual immorality. The moral talk turned out to be a piercing gospel message that I could not resist. I confessed my sins, prayed for forgiveness and accepted Christ as Lord and Saviour in real practical terms ( before then I was a Sunday School teacher and a member of the choir in my former church). I used to invite some of the female students to my house for immorality, I used to tell lies and I had a bad temper among other sins. I later went looking for him at home to inform him of my experience but didn't meet him at home. Next Monday, I told him what had happened to me and later my desire to join his own local assembly. He was surprised to hear that as he had assumed that I was a Christian already. He encouraged me. After by born again experience, the power of sin was broken and I started hating the sins I had pleasure in. By God's grace, this is now 23 years since I got born again. Alleluia!
My question is, can God accept one into His Kingdom simply because such a one is religious, has been taught the Bible or Scriptures or is vast at it, has been baptized in water, can pray etc but without genuine new birth experience?

1. I am afraid what you described isn't the born-again experience as explained by Jesus Christ. What you experienced is no different from say a turning point, born of a realization that there is a need for change in what is your moral life. Everybody experiences such things from time to time. The Kingdom of God is not of morality though. undecided

2. God never gave religion to any man. Religion is a system of delusions, and lies, built by men with which to deceive and delude their fellow men with. That is why what you refer to for instance as Christianity does look anything like that taught by Jesus Christ. So why would you think God would accept such an abomination into His Kingdom? Jesus Christ warned that the doctrines and traditions of men, lies, have no place among those who belong to Him - Matthew 15 vs 1 - 14 & Mark 7 vs 1 - 13. undecided

First of all you need to know the indepth meaning of the word "BORN AGAIN" then these questions:

Who are the BORN AGAIN Christians?
What are they supposed to do?

If you're interested we can discuss.

I am Maximus one of Jehovah's Witnesses!

That is your own cup of tea. You didn't really disappoint. I expected this your response. I don't expect you to agree with me because through your write-ups, it is clear you are a hateful, bigoted fault-finding religious man like the biblical Pharisees. Having disproved my experience as not what it means to be born again (as Christ taught), I think you should have stated what it really is and if you have the real one share your own experience. There were people in the Bible who got saved or got born again. Their testimonies were not identical but their is a common denominator: a change in moral life, a departure from the sinful life of old. It was not just resolution or turning a new life. Those personal decisions not backed by the Holy Spirit do not last. Such Bible characters who were born again include Peter and the other disciples, Nicodemus, Mary Magdalene, the woman caught in the very act of adultery, the woman of Samaria at Jacob's well, the repentant thief at the cross, Saul of Tarsus, the Ethiopian eunuch, Cornelius and his household, Philippian jailor etc.

If the blind leads (teaches) a fellow blind, according to our Lord Jesus Christ, both of them will fall into the ditch. A person who is not born again can only teach others religious dogma or head knowledge. Jehovah's Witnesses can't give what they don't have.

Newsflash! Being born-again, as Jesus Christ explained, means along with acquiring a new spirit, one has gained access into the Kingdom of God through either the Broad gate which leads to destruction(Hell) at the end or through the Narrow Gate which leads to True life(Heaven) in the end - John 3 vs 1 - 8 & Matthew 7 vs 13 - 14 & Luke 13 vs 22 - 30. So do not be deceived into thinking that once you are born-again you are home free because all those who will end up in Hell are also born-again, and have a spirit .I.e. eternal life as a result. undecided

You claim you are born-again but you never obtained a new spirit as Jesus Christ said all those who are will have. That only means one thing and that is you are not born-again. undecided

P.S Being born of spirit means in addition to having a mind, body and soul, you also acquire a spirit component to your being. This new spirit aspect you acquire will seem to operate according to its own mind and ability over you and as Jesus Christ explained in John 3 vs 8, it is not under your control. And he is with you 24/7 - you are pretty much aware of his presence with you too. undecided

You see your error. You are quick to falsely claim that I didn't receive the Holy Spirit and so I was not really born again. Is it every spiritual experience of mine that I must share in one testimony. Did the Bible state every single experience of all the people who were born again including their receiving of the Holy Spirit?, no. Does that mean they were not really born again, no. Not that I really care about your judgement.
Back to my question: can anyone claiming to be a Christian be accepted into God's kingdom without being born again?

1. Um... being born of spirit has nothing to do with having the Holy Spirit unless you somehow believe that even those who will end up in hell - all of them also born-again - have the holy spirit as well. Instead as Jesus Christ explained to you in His Gospel, being born of spirit is akin to having the Kingdom of God, inside of you and all around you. undecided

To obtain the Holy Spirit afterwards, you first have to become a perfect/holy vessel that is worthy of the Spirit of God aka the Spirit of Truth to abide on the inside of - John 8 vs 31 - 36 & John 14 vs 15 - 27 & John 15 vs 26 - 27 undecided

2. There are no "spiritual experiences"! That bullsheet was fed to you by your many false teachers and false prophets. Once you become born-again, and acquire a new spirit, every moment of your day you spend with this spirit, aware of its presence such that there ceases to be experiences --- instead what you have is life spent with it. He is everywhere you are and in everything you do so there ceases to be experiences but instead it is a living with the spirit. undecided

3. Without being born of spirit .I.e. born-again, you can't have eternal life. And only eternal beings can belong in the Kingdom of God regardless of whether they are to end up in Hell(Eternal damnation) or Heaven(Eternal Reward) in the end. . undecided

You are just interested in religious semantics for showmanship. A person who repents from his or her sins and accepts Christ as Lord and personal Saviour, becomes born again. It is not rocket science neither is it a technical theological lexicon. "By their fruits ye shall know them". Kobo, you are not yet born again. But it is not too late. Thanks.

2. So what you are saying is that all that Jesus Christ explained to Nicodemus regarding what it means to be born-again, this in John 3 vs 1 - 21, Jesus Christ lied about?, undecided

Do you see how Jesus Christ more than revealed in His Gospel that those who ar His are those who produce fruits born of obedience of His teachings and commandments and not simply those who confess with their mouths? undecided

All the essay and bible quotations you mumbled together is summarized in repentance and faith in Christ for salvation and the new birth experience. Everything else follows. Trying to be obedient to God and keep His commandments with the new birth experience will still lead to hell. That was why God asked God-fearing, commandment-keeping and prayerful Cornelius to send for Peter so as to hear the word that would lead him to the new birth experience. Salvation is never as a result of our works but good works must follow the new birth experience. We should understand that not all people have the privilege of being educated but they need the experience of being born again. So we need to make the gospel message of salvation simple, less ambiguous and plain. Thank you.

Cornelius was an Israelite -- of the 10 tribes who had been cursed and scattered by God at the time--- who obeyed God's Old Covenant Law, a law which never promised Heaven to the children of Israel- Deuteronomy 30 vs 15 - 20. Cornelius, was not a Jew --- not of the tribe of Judah, Benjamin or Levi -- but was observed as a good man since he gave to the poor according to God's Old Law rule - Ezekiel 18 and Ezekiel 33. He wanted Heaven and so needed to have Jesus Christ But Peter, the Jew, felt Jesus Christ was only for Jewish Israelites and not for the cursed tribes who were regarded as Gentiles by theiir Jewish brethren. Peter believed this even though Jesus
Christ had previously thought Him that He, Jesus Christ was sent only to the lost sheep of israel of which Cornelius happened to be of. undecided

God calls sinners first and foremost to repent and be saved or born again. Your past sins must be forgiven for your obedience, sacrifice, keeping of God's commandments etc to take you to heaven. Salvation must come first before anyone's obedience and good works can count for heaven. If you are not born again, your good works are mere dead works and filthy rags before God. Thank you.

1. What you typed makes no sense at all. Do you even realize what obedience simply means? It means doing what God says to do - obeying His teachings and commandments. The opposite of obedience is disobedience aka sin. undecided

▪︎In order to have the sins of your past forgiven you, Jesus Christ said you have to do what He says to do meaning you have to obey Him. ▪︎ To be born-again one also has to obey that which Jesus Christ stated one must do with is one has to be born of water and born of spirit. Ofcourse, He also explained that the Broad gate is there for those who try to force their way in instead of obeying all that Jesus Christ commands. undecided

Do I sound like I am against obedience to God's commandments? Not at all. My point is that there must be genuine conversion before obedience to God can lead to eternal life. You must start a race before you can proceed and eventually win. The beginning of the Christian journey or race to heaven is the new birth experience. Any so called obedience without the born again experience is mere delusion. Thank you.

1. Recall that Jesus Christ said, "By their fruits, you shall know them"? Guess what? No Individual who knows and obeys Jesus Christ would rail against Obedience as the key to the Kingdom of God. No individual whose life is lived in continuous submission to the teachings and commandments of Jesus Christ, God's New Covenant and Law in the Kingdom of God would ever open his or her mouth to indicate, contrary to that declared by Jesus Christ, that there is another approach order than that of obedience. It is near impossible because the spirit that lives inside of such a person would have been training that person to realize that obedience is indeed the only way. undecided

2. Again, where God is concerned, and this truth has been the same since the days of Adam,
▪︎ Obedience is the Key to knowing and loving God
▪︎ Obedience is the only way to have faith in God
▪︎ Obedience is the only way to obtain eternal life
...
▪︎ Obedience is the only way into the Kingdom of God
...
▪︎ Obedience is the only way into Heaven at the end of it all. undecided

The way to start the race, where God is concerned, is to take your first step in obedience to God's commandment. And then the next step in obedience, and then the next step in obedience, and so on... obedience is the key and only way to journey towards God. Disobedience(a refusal to obey God's commandment) leads you in the other direction away from God. Without obedience, it is impossible to experience or know God. It is impossible to live in disobedience of God's word and still have God. Those who feed you lies that make you think this possible are nothing but liars and deceivers. undecided

3. Jesus Christ told you of only one new birth... and that He described in John 3 vs 1 - 21 and that requires obedience to His teachings and commandments as expressed in His teachings.
▪︎ To be born of water, as John the Baptist explains, one first must change from following the Old way to following the New way, and this change is accomplished by way of obedience to the New Way i.e. the teachings and commandments of Jesus Christ - Matthew 3 vs 7 - 11
▪︎ Then one is baptized to show that one has indeed done as expected in order that God's word in Ezekiel 36 vs 25 will take effect
▪︎ To be born of spirit, one must believe in, eat the body, and drink the blood of Jesus Christ - John 6 vs 25 - 50 - in order to have eternal life

Any other "new birth" that is not as commanded or taught by Jesus Christ is nothing more than religious bullsheet! undecided

My question is, can God accept one into His Kingdom simply because such a one is religious, has been taught the Bible or Scriptures or is vast at it, has been baptized in water, can pray etc but without genuine new birth experience?
When you say "God accept" you have removed us from the question for God has the exclusive right of accepting or rejecting any thing with or without explanation.

However in respecting God's Rights, I would have referred you to the meaning of "religion" which simply means "serious pursuit of an interest".

Secondly, in the Bible we see that Christian and born again means the same thing, for Christian means "Christ-like or Like-Christ" where before we were not like Christ.

But because we have agreed to become like Christ therefore our former "not like Christ" died and we left it behind and now living as a new different man not seen before who is like Christ, hence new birth and rebirth aka born again.

Church going and church working is does not always mean Christ likeness and in fact today, it is "it does not mean Christ likeness at all."

So have you been set free from sin like no one has ever been before?
You people just fabricate delusion in your heads and start selling it for others.
Who among Jesus' disciples was free from sin after they became BORN AGAIN? smiley
In other words, you are not born again since you wrongly believe non of the disciples of Jesus was. You believe that the possibility of being set free from sin by Christ for which He was born (Mathew 1:21) is a delusion. You are simply a religious unbelieving sinner. You are on your way to eternal damnation yet you carry religion on your head. The good news is that it is not too late for you to repent and accept Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour so as to be set free from your sin. Do that today because tomorrow may be too late.

Answer the questions and stop your stupidity.

Have you been set free from sin like no one has ever been before?

Apostle Paul was BORN AGAIN and chosen by Christ Jesus himself {Act 9:15} yet he struggled with his sinful flesh throughout his live with the assurance that Christ will approve him! Romans 7:19-25

So if Kumuyi has brainwashed you know that his brainwashing is limited to uninformed and gullible people like you. Prove from the Bible how one can be saved from sinful nature just because they're BORN AGAIN! smiley

Any other "new birth" that is not as commanded or taught by Jesus Christ is nothing more than religious bullsheet! undecided
You can obey your organization's laws, rules, ordinances, or even the dogmas of your religious group etc to be accepted as a conformist. That makes you a good member. However, if you are not yet born again, your personal efforts at obeying even God's commandments though commendable, are not enough to qualify you for heaven. The bitter truth is that your so-called obedience without generation, is only leading you to eternal damnation. You are not different from the religious sinner, the moralist or the self-righteous. "Marvel not that I said unto thee, YE MUST BE AGAIN" (John 3:7).

You are wrong sir. First and foremost, I didn't get born again under the ministry of pastor Kumuyi. I also got sanctified before I got into contact with pastor Kumuyi's ministry. However, I listen to the Bible based teachings of this foremost holiness preacher and it has shaped my spiritual life so much positively and built on the foundation already laid. The Book of Romans 7:19-25 that you quoted applied to the nature of the unregenerate who wants to be free on his own without Christ which leads to frustration. It was Paul's past experience as a religious sinner before his conversion. A sinner is not yet a Christian and a Christian is no longer a sinner. Read Romans 6: 1 to 22 particularly verses 1, 12, 14,18 and 22. Read also 1st John 3 verses 1 to 9 particularly verse 8 that says "HE THAT COMMITS SIN IS OF THE DEVIL.........for this purpose the Son of God was manifested that He might destroy the works of the devil. Just to let you know that being born again according to John 1:12 and 13, John 3:3-7 and 1st Peter 1:22 and 23 is synonimous with salvation from sin, forgiveness, conversion or generation of life and the beginning of the new life in Christ. If a person claims to be 'born again' but not set free from sin, it means the person'a so called born againism is not real. Such is not yet genuinely born again. Thank you.

"HE THAT COMMITS SIN IS OF THE DEVIL"
This is what matters in your post!

Note the word "COMMITS" which connotes a continuous act of wrongdoing, that's what any true disciples of Christ will not engage in but as for sin all imperfect humans are prone to error (sin) that's why apostle Peter could deny his fellow believers {Galatians 2:11-14} because he is imperfect even though he is BORN AGAIN Christian and spokesman of the body of Apostles! Act 2:14; 4:8

So don't allow Kumuyi to brainwash you no human whether BORN AGAIN or not is above our sinful nature all we can do is pray for power of the holy spirit to conquer it! James 5:13-15

When we tell you people that you don't know the meaning of so many things in the Bible you will start quoting God's word out of context. The phrase BORN AGAIN has indepth meaning that nobody can teach you outside the organization of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Does this mean there's hope for survival?

The term BORN AGAIN does not have indebt meaning other than being a theological synonym for the second birth. We all were shapen I iniquity and in sin did our mothers conceive and give birth to us. That is the first birth and everybody experiences it. The second birth is done by the agency of the Holy Spirit leading to a change of character and lifestyle from the depraved sinful one to the divine one. Anyone who doesn't experience the second birth will not get to the kingdom of God otherwise called Paradise or the new heaven and the new earth. Since we were formed with the image of God and thus have an immortal soul and there are only two destinies, anyone who doesn't get to God's kingdom will end up where Satan and his angels will spend eternity. Any religious group like the Jehovah's Witnesses that arogates to itself the knowledge of the Bible without teaching it's members the necessity salvation or born again experience before any other religious service is a cult leading it's members to a doomed eternity. Little wonder, they deny the existence of eternal hellfire to deceptiively console themselves and their adherents. Those are the ones Christ refered to in Matthew 23:15. "Woe unto you, Scribes and Pharisees (false teachers inclusive)! for you compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, you make him twofold the child of hell than yourselves".

1. I don't follow. Does this organization whose rules you trust and obey also make available for you a Heaven of their branding for you to enter into at the end of it all? undecided

2. It seems you are not at all interested in the Truth of God since rather than accept the Truth of Jesus Christ — as Jesus Christ Himself commands, a step which requires obedience of His command by the way— you choose instead to postulate for yourself reasons for why you should reject and essentially refuse to obey Him. undecided

3. This very statement you make here reveals your utter foolishness! There are four kinds of sentences in the English language - declarative, interrogative, imperative, and exclamatory. Can you guess which of the 4 this statement, "YE MUST BE AGAIN", falls under? Here's a hint provided below... undecided
im·per·a·tive
1. of vital importance; crucial.
2. giving an authoritative command; peremptory.
Jesus Christ said, "Except a man be born-again, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God". That statement there renders your original question of foolishness. Clinging to religion— the doctrines and traditions of men and their organizations— is what brought you this far, still without knowledge as far as Jesus Christ is concerned after decades of your life. If you were to breathe your last today, realize it would all have been for nothing since, as Jesus Christ made clear to you, you cannot enter and become a citizen in the Kingdom of God — either Hell or Heaven bound — unless you are born again. undecided
