Just few women knows the way to their husband's heart knows this wonderful fish called ASA mangala, some people called it king of fishes , because of it meaty and sweet taste .

This the sweet fish, very meaty has ut own natural oil with less bones .

Asa mangala is the most expensive among dried fishes because of it uniqueness and tastes 😋 currently it goes for 16k per kg

Mangala" does not refer to a particular fish, but to a method of various fish in cutlet forms. Shallow water fish are cut into pieces before smoking rather than smoked whole. Fish under this name are called " Mangala" smoked in northern Nigeria Lake chad basin, so are larger freshwater fish, including knifefish (Asa) and various catfish.


We have basically 3 types of mangala

* Asa mangala

* Bragi mangala (Okpo)

*Aririah mangala.

Eja Osan is known to be one of Nigeria's most expensive type of fish, It is called dansarki in hausa and azu asa in igbo. It is not cultivated artificially
instead it is caught by fishermen from water where it grows naturally. This is one of the reasons why it is expensive.
