If you don’t celebrate Christmas because it’s of pagan origin, then do away with everything around you that is of pagan origin! First and foremost, stop mentioning the days of the week because as you do so you’re mentioning the names of pagan gods Diana as the Moon for Monday, Mars for Tuesday, Mercury for Wednesday, Jupiter for Thursday, Venus for Friday, Saturn for Saturday, and Apollo as the Sun for Sunday 2 Likes |

The Romans named the days of the week after their gods Sunday: The first day of the week was named after the sun – dies Solis – day of the sun in Latin and later Sunnon-dagaz in old Germanic. Monday: Monday is the moon day – dies Lunae in Latin, becoming Mon(an)dæg in Old English. Tuesday: Tuesday was named for the Roman god of war, Mars, so in Latin was known as dies Martis. However, the Germanic god of war was known as Tiu and the English day of the week is derived from this Germanic god’s name instead, first known as Tiwsday and eventually Tuesday. Wednesday: Similarly, the Germanic equivalent of the Roman god Mercury was the equally as swift Woden. And so this day, which started out in Latin as dies Mercurii became Woden’s day in old Germanic, eventually becoming Wednesday in English. 2 Likes |

Thursday: Jupiter, also known as Jove, is the supreme Roman god and patron of the Roman state. He is the god that created thunder and lightning. Thor is the Norse god of thunder, often shown riding through the sky in a chariot. And it’s from this Norse god that we see the Latin dies Jovis (day of Jupiter) become Thor’s day and eventually Thursday. Friday: Venus is the Roman goddess of love and beauty, and in Latin her day was known as dies Veneris. We get the English name for Venus’ day from Frigg, the Norse goddess of love and the heavens, and possibly Fria, the Teutonic goddess of love and beauty. In Germanic we have Frije-dagaz, later becoming Friday in English. Saturday: We end with an easy one. Saturn is the Roman god of agriculture, known in Ancient Greece as Cronos. In Latin we have dies Saturni and it’s not hard to see that Saturday today is still very much Saturn’s day. https://englishlive.ef.com/blog/language-lab/origins-behind-english-weekday-names/amp/ 1 Like |

Let us talk about the months of the year too: They are also of pagan origin, so using your pagan origin as the reason for not associating with or celebrating Christmas, then you shouldn’t associate with the months of the year too because when you do, you’re mentioning the pagan god, practice January: January is named after the Roman god Janus. As you can see in this print, he had two faces so he could see the future and the past. He was also the god of doors February: February is named after an ancient Roman festival of purification called Februa. March: March is named after Mars, the Roman god of war. This statue shows him in battle gear April: April takes its name from the Latin word aperire, meaning 'to open' (just like flowers do in spring) Apparently this was not named after any pagan god or practice May: May is named after the Greek goddess Maia. This print is an allegorical representation of the month of May. June: June is named after the Roman goddess Juno – the god of marriage and childbirth, and the wife of Jupiter, king of the gods 2 Likes |

July and August They were not named after pagan gods but were named after leaders you will refer to as pagans. July and August were named after two major figures of the ancient Roman world – the statesman Julius Caesar (and Rome's first emperor, Augustus. September–December But what about the rest? September, October, November and December are named after Roman numbers 7, 8, 9 and 10 – they were originally the seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth months of the Roman year. Before July and August were renamed after Roman rulers, they were called Quintilis and Sextilis, meaning fifth and sixth months. How boring! https://www.britishmuseum.org/blog/whats-name-months-year 3 Likes |

advocatejare: Weak rebuttal! Do you stop calling someone by the name he is popularly known simply because he bears Èṣùtọ́tá, Ògúnbíyì, Ṣàngótádé, Òrìṣàfẹ́mi and so on? Ọmọ it's when you join in celebrating or b greet them for their festival celebration that you become part of them not when you call them by their names. So if you can go and convince people of the world to change the names they're calling days of the week otherwise you won't stop celebrating Christmas, nobody cares but one thing is certain: no servant of God celebrated birthday so it's pagan tradition not God God's people! 3 Likes |

advocatejare:Infer? Dude you are the one that is not making sense. Week days are named after gods, okay but we don't pay special attention to them and the gods they represent, likewise Christmas. Folks that do not celebrate Christmas acknowledge that today is Christmas according to Christians but don't pay special attention to it. They feel exactly the way you feel about Sallah. It is an important day to those that it is important to, the rest don't give a hoot. Read Your Bible In the same way, some think one day is more holy than another day, while others think every day is alike. You should each be fully convinced that whichever day you choose is acceptable.Romans 14:5. A day is what you make it not what another person makes it and they are all acceptable to God. While Romans were counting days as Mon, Tue etc others are counting Nkwo, Eke, Orie etc. Refunding my entire school fees will greatly be appreciated if it is possible? Can you help? 1 Like 1 Share |

This is actually the most hilarious thing that I have heard anyone say in futile defence of the pagan festival called Christmas. Celebrate your Christmas, if you must, but don't associate it with the Saviour of the world, Yahushua the Messiah. Christmas has nothing to do with Yahushua the Messiah, the Word and the begotten Son of YHVH Almighty. |

AntiChristian: Pagan origin of Islamic month: the pagans already named all the months after their practices before Muhammad claimed the months as Islamic months just like he retained many of the pagan practices al-Muḥarram (Forbidden): The pagans Arabs so named this month because battle and all kinds of fighting are forbidden (ḥarām) during this month. Safar (Void): Supposedly named this because pre-Islamic Arab houses were empty this time of year while their occupants gathered food. Rabi al-Awwal (the first spring): Also means to graze, because cattle were grazed during this month. Rabīʿ ath-Thānī or Rabīʿ al-ʾĀkhir (the second spring) Jumādā al-ʾŪlā (the first of parched land): Often considered the pre-Islamic summer. Jumādā may also be related to a verb meaning "to freeze" and another account relates that water would freeze during this time of year. Jumādā ath-Thāniyah or Jumādā al-ʾĀkhirah (the second of parched land, the last of parched land) |

AntiChristian: Continuation of pagan origin of the Islamic calendar Rajab (Respect and honor) This is the second sacred month in which fighting is forbidden. Rajab may also be related to a verb meaning "to remove", so called because pre-Islamic Arabs would remove the heads of their spears and refrain from fighting. Shaban (scattered): Marked the time of year when Arab tribes dispersed to find water. Sha‘bān may also be related to a verb meaning "to be in between two things". Another account relates that it was called thus because the month lies between Rajab and Ramadan. Ramadan (Burning heat) : month of fasting for pagans Burning is related to fasting as with an empty stomach one's worldly desire will burn. Supposedly so called because of high temperatures caused by the excessive heat of the sun. Shawwal (Raised): Female camelswould normally be in calf at this time of year and raise their tails. At the first day of this month, the Eid al-Fitr, "Festival of Breaking the Fast" begins, marking the end of fasting and the end of Ramadhan. Ḏū al-Qaʿdah (the one of truce/sitting): This is a holy month during which war is banned. People are allowed to defend themselves if attacked Ḏū al-Ḥijjah(the one of pilgrimage) the month the pagans used for pilgrimage! 2 Likes |
