In the build up to 2003 general elections, OBJ and the 5 AD governors (excluding Tinubu in Lagos) struck a deal to backed OBJ with the agreement that OBJ and PDP would support their re-election bid. They all lost their re-elections, because immediately PDP won the presidency in their state, PDP activated the bandwagon effect on the electorates. Wike knows that if APC wins Rivers presidential election, PDP would be overran in the governorship, same way PDP overran AD in SW in 2003.

Secondly, Wike is better off supporting Peter Obi, who would not be a threat to PDP in subsequent elections, unlike APC. LP candidate for governorship would even step down in honour of Wike's magnanimity to PO than challenge him at the polls. Wike knows his political enemies and would rather avoid them entirely

Thirdly, although many may disagree with this, but about 95% of Christians do not support the muslim-muslim ticket and Wike is obviously not among the 5% Christians who have chosen the part of Demas, who forsook christianity and abandoned the ministry of Jesus Christ.

Wike may not voice it, but Shettima was and still remains a political enemy to Wike. As minister for States for Education, Wike knows that Shettima orchastrated the kidnapping of Chibok girls to dent both his ministry's image and those of GEJ. That singular act destroyed GEJ government both locally and internationally. See attched letter Wike wrote Shettima, which was clearly ignored by Shettima. If Shertima acted on Wike's letter, Chibok would NEVER have happened. No Wike, with concussions would support a Shettima or rather patronize such evil doer. Who destroyed the families of fellow Christians in Chibok.

Fourthly, Ameachi and his APC team would go to the market with the story of how APC delivered Tinubu in Rivers State. The gubernatorial elections is about 2 weeks away from the presidential polls. In politics, two weeks is enough time to destroy your opponent politically, especially in an election year. Wike knows this game.

So, in my view and thoughtfulness, Wike would rather support Peter Obi's LP, who are no threats to his successor than an evil infested APC, whose candidate is even sick and weak.

It will be very suicidal for Wike to publicly and fully support Tinubu 100%. The best he can do is deal with Tinubu for a minimum of guaranteed 25% votes.

Supporting is the sensible thing to do because their is why majority of the masses especially South are inclined to be voting if massive vote buying won’t be changing their minds because these politicians are surely going to be weaponizing the high poverty rate in the land.

Again, Wike is not a rookie in the game, he must be seeing something everyone is not seeing yet.
