What's The Reaction/feeling When Someone Speaks Your Dialect In A Foreign Land? by Spaxon(op):
Alright guys.
Most times I do see Nigerians in Illinois. It's a normal thing.
Especially the Yoruba's.

And then I rarely do hear their conversations. Cus they mostly speak Yoruba.

So just last Thursday, met a couple in the park speaking my Native (Ibibio) dialect.

Well I felt I let an unconscious smile and next thing I walked up to them and we had a very wonderful conversation.
I got invited for Dinner.
It felt so good that evening to actually get that connection feeling.

PS; I know lots of Akwaibomites live in Chicago, but you'll rarely hear them use Ibibio in conversations outside their homes.

So have you got any experiences?
Maybe not outside Nigeria.
It could be within the country and in a different tribe.

I'll like to hear Nigerian/Indian accents abroad.
It will help me identify phone snatchers.
