I'd like to know how adoption works in Nigeria.

It's more than just saying, "oh, I've adopted this child"; there is a lot of paperwork and procedures that go into the process. First of all, as long as the parents are still alive you can't just adopt, the parents would have to hand over guardianship to you, that's a lot of court work which will take weeks and months.

Except she has done all these before publicising the news. Or she has not done anything but has simply taken the girl as hers and is taking care of her financial needs but has no legal binding with her.

I am open to corrections though, I might be mistaken.
