For 40 years now.... Once the longest-range SPG in the world for 30 years, we wrote the doctrine on wheeled artillery.

I haven't seen any other SPG with this kind of design. South African weaponry are truly unique.

I read up the range and abilities of the SPG. This is superior to the over hyped Chinese PLZ 45 in my opinion and comparable to the pz 2000. I believe it will be beneficial for Nigeria to acquire this technology and begin licensed production but Nigerian pride and will might not agree grin

Guys, I saw a video of a Nigerian ZSU-23 Shilka SPAAG in active service . Do you still believe that SPAAGs will be effective in the next 10 years across battlefields in the planet?

When I say, "effective", I mean against its primary aim. Low flying aircraft. Why do we need SPAAGs when short range missiles can do the job. I can't fathom any other reason except costs.

All opinions are welcomed.

So, India, UAE, Togo, Saudi Arabia, are the known operators.
Latest statement by Paramount mentioned 8 countries have ordered. If Thailand does order, who are the other 3 customers?

For a change, went out to False Bay for some sailing today.
I was about to suggest a proper DSLR camera for you, I then remembered that South Africans are digital camera shy, you can shoot with your phone all day long and no one would care, take out a digital camera, security will immediately entertain you. I used to have such problems when I used to shoot for Skyscrapercity... Maybe the Cape is different, but the inland is a problem.

Honestly, I have no idea, I did not even think this vehicle was going to sell considering the availability of the Marauder.

Exactly. I only have three reservations for this tank. Price, side turret armour and APS.

I'm not sure if the Korean APS is tested but the side turret armour can be easily upgraded for a Nigerian version.

The Korean version featured minimal side turret armour because it was seen to be a Korean tank built for mountainous warfare as that's the terrain of South Korea. The Koreans don't believe that their primary enemy, North Korea would flank them in attacks due to the terrain. However, Nigeria is multi terrain. We'll need upgrades.

Do you in any way think it's possible for hybrid turrets with mixed manned and unmanned capabilities be manufactured? Especially by South African defence companies?

UK Spy Chief admitting to pushing a narrative in the media to counter Russian information.

When you are pushing out information to a population that is already sceptical of you it is much harder to gain traction in those scenarios.

"We recognise that we were able to have impact on countering disinformation but that there were limits on what we were able to do."

Not vouching for it, but I shared this back in 2020:

Lurker4Long:
Seen via Twitter:
"I found this in the internet. It's a VT4 turret without it's armor modules installed + armor module on the floor. Armor is not very thick it seems, also these mounting holes in turret shows backplate is also not thick"

I don't believe in the VT-4 tank neither do I believe in the T-90A. I understand that the T-90M export version is a great tank but like I used to say, technically the entire planet is behind in the development of tanks. Armies of the world has had fewer tank to tank engagements after World War 2 hence the average designs.

The M1A2 abrams sep v3 might be the most advanced tank in the world today, but the Americans were never the best tank designers. The Russians have smaller tanks with more emphasis on a larger gun and fast tank attacks but I don't fancy having a auto loading carousel in the turret.

An auto loader might seem to be an advancement but it's suicide. Russian tanks lacks blowout panels compared to the American tanks. It's rare for you to see an M1 abrams tank exploding with the turret cooking off. The blast can be directed away from the crew because it has no auto loader and the ammunition is stored away from the crew.

The truth is that, most world tanks lack people blowout panels but the Leopard 2a7+ and K2 black panther has better survivability compared to the Russian tanks.

The Indian army had to tailor their T-90 bshima tanks to their requirements and also increase the armor protection. Any modern tank with a less than 1000mm protection against armored piercing fin stabilized discarding sabot is nothing but a walking mechanic crap. That's basically our VT4 tank. We need atleast 1300mm protection if we want to be relevant in the next 10 to 15 years.

About the tank main gun, I understand that Russians are considering 152mm main gun and that we'll require an autoloader, also the German 130mm is already under testing and an auto loader will be required due to ammunition weight, however that can be done by redesigning the autoloader from the carousel style. The leclerc tank and K2 black panther uses autoloaders without the carousel design that will endanger the life of crew in the turret. We just need to ensure its reliability in battle.

In summary, Nigeria needs to get into tank development, maybe partner with turkey and develop its own tank.

Below, is destroyed American M1a2 abrams tank vs the Russian T-90 tank. Notice the blown out turret

Not yet. Still trials:

DTI D-Lion is a Thai version of the Mbombe 4 mine-resistant armoured fighting vehicle unveiled at the Defense & Security 2022. The Defence Technology Institute has announced a partnership with South Africa firm Paramount Group, Thailand’s defence research and development (R&grin) agency, and local partner Jatunapas, one of Thailand’s leading defence and security companies, to produce its advanced Infantry Combat Vehicle (ICV), the Mbombe 4, in Thailand. The Mbombe 4 completes the highly advanced Mbombe family of combat vehicles which have been designed to directly address the increasing demand for outstanding protection yet versatility in conventional and asymmetric warfare, counter-terrorism, and peacekeeping missions alike. Following assembly of the Mbombe 4 within Thailand, the next generation ICV is to undergo vehicle trials by the Thai Armed Forces and the DTI.

The news is false.

The blast occured hours before the President was due to arrive Kogi state.

He did not visit Okene, instead flew to Lokoja the state capital.
