Hope I'm creating this thread in the right section, since depression is about the mental state of one's mind, so I thought of putting it in the health section. Please it might be a little bit lengthy but just take your time and read through. Before I proceed, I will like to make it clear that I'm not creating this thread to solicit for financial aid or whatever you might think of. I'm here to seek the opinions, thoughts and views of my fellow nairalanders on this
thread and that is even the major reason why I'm using my real handle.

Who knows if those that might have been going through similar terrible challenges can find succour on this thread also. You can't tell you know ??

You know there will get to some point in a man's life when things do not go in the right direction even after he has deployed various machanisms within his reach. At that point he needs to speak out and seek advice. I have seen how Nlanders contribute intelligently to topics of discuss and that's why I'm using my real handle to post this here.


For 26 years of my existence on the face of this earth, I'm having serious suicidal thoughts of jumping into the Lagos lagoon. Where I live isn't far from the third mainland bridge by bus anyways. I came from an average Home and I have been an introvert all my life.

I rarely make friends because I spend most of my time reading online articles, journals and books. I also spend much time on nairaland. I graduated from secondary school in 2013 but had to hustle and raise money before I finally got admission in 2019 at one of the federal school. I'm the first son of 6 children and most time I feel like i have failed. My parents have been extremely supportive also.

I have deployed various mechanisms and ideas over the years to better my life but if just seems year by year it gets worst. I can't start going into details but at this point my life is hitting the rock bottom. Maybe there is something I might not be doing rightly or is it because I'm irreligious ? My parents have really tried a lot for me and it's really painful that at this stage I can't do anything for them.

I'm good at being an OAP and also a media personality. I used to anchor talk shows as a teenager in church back then. But I think me being an introvert hasn't really helped because I do not socialise and kind of shy(note I'm not timid). I'm seeking opinions on what I can do. Ideas, thoughts and opinions will be deeply appreciated. Thanks!

It’s never the end. You could be close to that break through.

I know how it feels, when it’s like every door is locked and it seems the world is against you.

Don’t initiate your psyche into failure or suicide. Your perseverance and beliefs will get you anywhere you want to be.

It shall never be well with Buhari and APC. This demonic party has brought untold hardships upon Nigerians. Many has Japa, while many are even committing suicide.

The most annoying thing is, they are currently packaging another fraud and disaster.

Look behind you, you will see a lot of reasons to be grateful for. No matter what you are going through, always look behind you cause am very sure someone somewhere is looking @ you n still praying to be like you.

Things are hard generally, but suicidal is an option my brother. Like someone said, when God picks up your call just for a month, you go forget say you done suffer for 10years before.

Things will surely get better for you, it's just a phase in life you need to go through & for you to be able to appreciate God more when things get better.

Thanks for the word of encouragement. At this stage I just need to be advised on the critical steps I can take to meander myself out of this shackles. I have done so much and it seems it's same results! You know still staying with one's parents at 26 isn't something good!
