No fixed price, based on international crude oil prices
Re: If Subsidy Is Removed, how Much Will Fuel Sell? by macdongenius: 8:25pm On Jan 09, 2023
Between #400-#550.

Ripple effects:

Food prices will quadruple
Transport fare will quadruple

If the money saved can be deployed to power and we have like 18hrs power supply daily, gradually modular refineries and dangote refinery thrives, security improves and money is pumped into agriculture, under a yr fuel price will crash to as low as #80/liter.

With food sufficiency achieved, our economy will start waking up, smes will begin to thrive. Gradually, our lost glory as a nation will have a rebirth

we are already buying in the East, 400. well, it means we can survive without subsidy but we need cushioning alternatives.. the burden is currently too much in the East.

one cushion is providing steady power supply, so as to save us from buying fuel for generators.

This is the correct answer

mine85, Market forces will do nothing.

OPEC sets the price of crude oil.

You cannot get cheap petrol if you keep importing refined PMS.

Nigeria would have been enjoying subsidy now if we had been sincere about it.

Nigeria as a country has a way of making her citizens look quite dumbb!
How can u talk about removing subsidies without ONE single refinery?
Like not one damn refinery works!
Is this really a country or where most of the dumbb humans in the world live?
Everything Obasanjo used to campaign in 1999 would be used to campaign in 2030, to filled stadiums of very unreasonable citidiots,
I wish you all goodluck as u flock to the poll and revalidate ur slavery

So you believe that there is subsidy? How much are you buying fuel in your area? That thing is the biggest corruption funnel in Nigeria. Government is the direct beneficiary. So wake up buddy.

380 to 400.

I am very sure of this.

Because governors proposed 360 and with inflation it might go a bit higher.

Once subsidy is removed, petrol price will only reduce based on intl oil price & exchange rate.

It will take a minimum of ten years of good government policy before fuel price would crash if subsidy is removed today.
You're naive. Unfortunately, majority of Nigerians are.

Governors lowered it to make it sellable to Nigerians and give them looting margin. 500 Naira is more realistic given the marketer union are available to inject their greed margin into the final cost.

Extremely Wrong, based on the falling value of the Naira

Should the subsidy be removed immediatly or bit by bit? So that the increase in price isnt so drastic people are dumped into poverty without preperation

People that are saying when subsidy is removed fuel will be 400 should ask about the current price of diesel and kerosene now. Nigeria work in a way that nobody understands

800naira to a 1000 naira and above.
Don't believe all those fairytale never ever after story tellers. This is Nigeria, and every business man dreams of sending his fellow Nigerians to bed with a hungry stomach and a crushed soul.

Let me try to answer some of your questions.

StaffofOrayan:
Nigeria as a country has a way of making her citizens look quite dumbb!
How can u talk about removing subsidies without ONE single refinery?
Like not one damn refinery works!
Because they(government) can no longer afford it, supposedly. The whole thing may have been started with sound intentions and the rationale probably was sensible initially, but now, the program is obviously unsustainable.

StaffofOrayan:
Is this really a country or where most of the dumbb humans in the world live?
Unfortunately you might be right in this notion, but I'll hold my more qualified opinion for now.

StaffofOrayan:
Everything Obasanjo used to campaign in 1999 would be used to campaign in 2030, to filled stadiums of very unreasonable citidiots,
I wish you all goodluck as u flock to the poll and revalidate ur slavery
In fairness to Nigerians it is the same bag of tricks that American politicians use on their constituents every election season that is also being employed on them(Nigerians) so that whole re-validation of slavery bit is hardly peculiar to Nigerians.

If we have constant electricity then any price we will buy it. Majority are buying fuel because no electricity, factory are buying diesel because of the same electricity. If want to fuel my car, will cut my shoulder according to my size.
